You can do better than that! M$ is at the top of their game, right? The ISO scandal has not touched their reputation in the least and the Norwegian standards body can safely be ignored. Everyone is going to be migrating to OOXML because they all love M$ Office and Vista! Pass the crack pipe!

Do you LOVE THIS COMPANY? Let me hear you say it.

As usual, you have nothing on topic to say. Not even you would care to defend M$'s doomed effort to capture the better free software programs under Winblows. They know that the effort drains resources that would be better spent making free software better. What they don't know is that the free software world has the resources to waste and that most people understand that the further you get from M$ the better off you are. The tipping point passed years ago and the exodus is accelerating. Young people know they can find better software in the free world and are not going to waste much time porting it to an OS they don't need.

Do you have anything new to add to this conversation? The GP already mentioned that "more is better" and not even you can believe what you "had" to write what you did. Someone who knew something could point out technical details of Wii's GPU and how that translates into something less than what you might expect from the average PC game or PS3. Even a link to a review would be cool. Everyone already knows you have an obssesive hatred of twitter but no one ever cared.

The core of Sir John Sulston's complaint is the privatization of scientific knowledge but that is a core mission of the Gates Foundation. Every "gift" and grant comes with typical M$ strings, including software use and they demand a servile "respect" for "intellectual property". Real charity does not come with conditions, it is freely given out of love. The Gates foundation is all about Gates moving M$'s ethics into medicine but it should be rejected. Patient care is more important than profit. Control of medical information for profit may not be a crime now but it should be.

I know, you probably don't watch much TV or go outside but broadcasters have been showing crowds with identifiable people for commercial purposes for decades. Google's static images are less intrusive than that why would you make them jump through more hoops? There is a big difference between pictures of a public place and coopting someone's image for commercial purposes and this the case law is well established.

Freedom of press is when anyone can publish their opinions without fear or reprisals and shutdown. Granting a few publishers the ability to shut others down is the opposite of free press and it disregards the work of the majority. Their study showed that most attacks were against old exploits. This is because non free software is so difficult to upgrade, update and repair. Rebuilding a Windows from scratch is still a huge hassle. Most people cling to their install as long as they can because they don't want to have to feed CDs, reboot and go through the terribly user hostile process of reinstalling expensive programs like photoshop. Then there are service packs, three of them for XP by now... the proof is in the traffic. Windows security is still an oxymoron.

Then there's cost. Why require your students to purchase an OS and Office when they could use GCC or Watcom and learn something useful?
