Why do I hear echoes of Neville Chamberlain in my head? Really, I don't think that we're under a Nazi regime, I equate it to more of a fascist concept. First, they tried to control the media, then they limited the speaking points of the individual ministers, then they limited the public demonstration of respect for our fallen soldiers (no lowering the flags for casualties in Afghanistan). Unca George must be SO proud! Except for the little thing about the trains running on time, the checklist is becoming much pretty complete.
Also, when it recovers if you tell it that yes, it can send the info to MS, you'll often get the answer from that.
I would have to add/amend that to "if it recovers" and that after 10 years of sending MS the option of submitting error conditions of the failure, I have NEVER received any response. I can only presume that I am not alone in this.
Man, I'm flashing back to my tech support days of a decade ago, "Where did I save my files?". Does user education have any place in today's 'Search and ye shall find' mentality?
Just like the tobacco companies, many years ago. We still don't trust them and they still exist. Thalidomide is still in production, the manufacturing companies still exist, too. Why shouldn't we trust corporations when they tell us everything will be OK?
The contradiction lies in the defaults of VS 200#.Net. When the default in your IDE is to client side scripting, you are no longer in a true ASP environment. In fact, any concessions to accessibility in VS 2003 were only implemented in SP1. They were also disabled by default. The IDE itself is not usable by programmers with disabilities. MS has chosen to leave making the program accessible to "third parties".
Or, in still other words, you bow (kneel & bob) to MS or Adobe. Either way, you are going to lock yourself into proprietary, hard to make compliant, hard to make accessible, formats.
Sweet! I'm all over that!
Yes, I know it can be done, but how many drag-and-drop designers are going to git a shit about learning how to do it well.
I liken it to getting laid for the first time: you really didn't know what you were doing, or how to do it well, but damn, it felt good.
Well, I agree. However, I'm looking for a device that will zap cellphone signals when there are kids on public transit who are talking to their friends about "Yeah, I cut class today. I don't need no F$#%ing B^&% S!@# on how to do !@#$%^&*()". Asking them to be more considerate of others results in a tirade of abuse.
I am looking at developing a small device to inhibit signal reception and transmission. Power supply seems to be the restriction.
And you base this on what? Vast amounts of empirical data?
New, Plain, off the shelf, Big Box, retail machines make everything "easy". Pop in a "Kingston Data Traveler" or a "Lexar JumpDrive" and XP is more than happy to recognize it. Heck, XP even offers to display the contents of the device.
You and I know to deny such offerings but, in the "Click OK to Continue" culture, this is not he norm.
Not to mention the fact that ½ the people I know regularly reinstall Windows every 3-6 months to improve performance. This ½ would be the more "hard-core" gamers that I know.
I'm not implying a connection, this is just an observation.
Dragon Naturally Speaking from Nuance is about 75-80% accurate out-of-the-box. It is the other 20-25% that you have to invest the time in to get it to your liking. Even after a few months, you will probably still only reach up to 95% accuracy. Using it when you have a cold, sore throat or when you have been indulging in your favorite alcoholic beverage can corrupt your voice profile and set you back considerably.
Never let someone else use it under your voice profile.
Will voice rec systems ever be 100% accurate and spearker independant? Maybe, but I don't expect to see it for a long time.

Can you give me your PayPal info? I'd like to buy a vowel.

It's now called "Scotia Bank Place".
Mmmmm, nice warm fuzzy feeling there.
I love the sarcasm in this.
It is not lost on my blind clients!
When your primary interface fails, it's the end of your on-line world.
Just a thought.

If hardware issues were so aggregious to cause a non-reliable result in the software, should the software had the ability to install without error?
Basic Quallity Assurance Testing deficiency.
"Possibly caused by..." is not a valid issue reporting methodology.

There is Not good CSS support in the next iteration of the browser so, how could we expect good support in an IDE? Comments on I.E 7

GIGO-Garbage In Garbage Out.
The code will be as good as the support in their browser. See how this stacks up in a Browser comparison

What are SlashDot UID's up to now?
Like the reference, BTW, it's been my sig for a bit.

What is a PDF?
In the web accessibility circles, it translates into "Pretty Dumb Format".
Odd, that beep rings a bell...
PDFs always look the same.
Yep, they generally suck for a blind person using a screen-reader.
This is why the blind community usually refers to PDF as "Pretty Dumb Format".

There are always extras on OSS CDs.
At least these are documented.
