There's actually a player made server (AADS) for Tribes:AA that runs on a PC. it actually fixes a lot of the bugs in the game, too.
This sort of thing really isn't a tricky thing for console game makers to do; they just don't want to let the players have that much control over the server environment.
And if you don't buy one, they don't recoup $200, so it's like stealing $400 from MS! And, there's the added bonus of game companies not seeing another sale on that ledger, so they're less likely to make games for the Xbox (which gives MS money thanks to liscensing fees)! Wow, not buying one is like stealing $400,/I. from MS!
God, did you do losts of or were you just born this stupid?
Secondly, the Senators/Congressman are elected by the people. Therefore, they are representatives of what they think the people want. If you don't like it, elect someone else. If you re-elect them, then you've just said "Hey, great job last term! Have another!"
That's how it works. And if the people petition their new representative to have the law overturned, it can be. Nothing's set in stone.
You want gritty, realistic graphics? Take a peek at Steel Battalion. The presentation of the game is very gritty and realistic. The game's developers really worked hard on the presentation of the game, and it shows. The game uses filters to great effect, and the results of their labor are amazing. You can also check out some of the videos of the first and second games in action; you'll be amazed by the use of shaders and filters to create a realistic, true to life scene of futuristic combat (wow, that's an oxymoron).
And of course, I haven't even talked about the fourty button controller. You want realism and grit? SB and SB:LoC have it in spades, along with unblievable gameplay and an awesome community to boot.
Now had this been a piece of MS software, you'd all be saying how it's a violation of your privacy that they're taking this info. But it's Valve, and so you're all OK with that?
If someone wrote that into the GPL, no one would ever use it. Also note if I own the copyright, I can do whatever the hell I want to the code. I can make it "Only I can use it suck off" liscensed. And the liscense I put on something I make can't stop me from changing said liscense. It's my work, and I can do whatever the hell I want with it.
The GPL merely stops other people from taking your work and then making it closed source. It doesn't stop the owner of the work from making it closed source, and legally it cannot do that.
But yea, I can see people buying Pepsis for no reason other than the code; as in, keep the cap, toss the Pepsi.
As in, I was agreeing with the parent post's asseration that "Now i'm off to buy many $1.20 bottles of sugar water so I get get a free $0.99 song!!!! I can't lose!"
The "hack" involves tipping the Pepsi bottle in order to see if it's a winner. How would these "cheaters" be tracked down? How would it effect your codes? RTFA.
You shouldn't have any problem with the scorpians if you're good. Throw on grenade, and they're dead. Fuel rod cannon? Dead. Rocket launcher? Dead. Sniper rifle? Dead. Etc.
You just need to get outa the way, that's all. But they're slow, so no worries.
Let's contemplate this. Yes, MS does eat something for every Xbox. However, if you don't buy that Xbox and instead let it rot on the shelf, does MS lose more money? Yes. If you buy it, does MS lose less money? Yes. If your goal is to hurt them, then don't buy an Xbox in the first place.
Oh, and I own one and love it. Steel Battalion, CSkies, and Halo all rock.
So you're saying the onus is on MS to check whether or not he's been using it? I don't know, but it seems to me he could have, say, canceled the account once he wasn't using it?
It's hardly MS's fault this nitwit didn't cancel his account. He engaged in a contract to pay; you expect MS to suddenly allow him to back out once he owes them money?
They informed me that since it had been longer than 60 days from when my account was renewed
Therefore, if the statement comes mid-January, it's only been about 20 days, well under the 60 day limit. Sounds to me like this guy plain old didn't pay enough attention to his monthly statements.
However, they -need- to include some sort of internal memory for LIVE. I love the DLC they provide; without internal sotrage, however, I don't see how it could be effectively done.
This sort of thing really isn't a tricky thing for console game makers to do; they just don't want to let the players have that much control over the server environment.
In the US it's $50 a year; I'd hardly say you're getting "ripped off." In fact, I'd say that's about even with the exchange rates.
God, did you do losts of or were you just born this stupid?

One word: cheaters.

Just pointing out the hypocrisy of it all.

You don't/I> have the option to censor them.
Yea, sure. Just send $20,000 US to this Nigerian Prince I know, and I'm sure we can work things out...
Uhm, just a legal FYI: Yelling fire is illegal because it causes physical danger (stampedes, etc). Spreading FUD isn't doing this, now is it?
Making you, what, an idiot?
As in, I was agreeing with the parent post's asseration that "Now i'm off to buy many $1.20 bottles of sugar water so I get get a free $0.99 song!!!! I can't lose!"
Moron.
Isn't that what I said? Do you have reading comprehension issues or something?
Nice try, though.

And that screws Pepsi...how? They still make the money off of your purchase, after all.
You just need to get outa the way, that's all. But they're slow, so no worries.
(What kind of money are we talking about here? How much does Xbox Live cost, anyways?) $50 US a year.

Think again. (Read the entire thread)
