I'd think that the same sort of approach could be taken as has been done in the past with macro's in mmorpg's. Track behaviour, and if there is suspicion, have an admin personal message the player, asking them a question a bot wouldn't have difficulty answering. Also,
I know a few people who play high stakes online games(2k+ buyin tables), are people trusting the bots at high stakes?
I just finished reading "In the Beginning... was the Command Line" by Neal Stephenson. If you haven't read it, it is worth the read. After reading it, it made me want to throw away my windows box, and stick with my linux box, heh.
Here's a quote that I thought fit this article. "The cosmic operating system uses a command line interface."
Ya, from what I've heard about this paper stuff, although these are just rumours, as I have never actually seen any, it is nearly indestructible!

Unless you are into digital editing, or watching TV on your PC, this dual monitor bit is nothing more than a rich man's folly. Having a second monitor isn't all that expensive -- what like $150 for a 17" crt? Also, many people I know who program, including myself, find having two monitors much more productive. There is so much more desktop real estate. eg, if you are working in java, you can have the api open on a monitor as you are working on code. Or, have some code on one monitor, and test it on the other. etc etc. All the people I know who have had two monitors never go back.
hah I also grade as a university TA, and let me tell you what is more annoying than that... people who don't know how to indent their code, and want you to help debug it! Ahhhhh!!!!!
If only they had this in Canada. I used to take the train several times a month for 5 hour trips, and interent would have been real nice for working on assignments using my laptop. Instead, I had to work offline, then quickly connect for about 30seconds to update stuff when we would pull into a station. This could be very handy if more places start implementing it.
My laptop currently has an AMD64 2800+.. does anyone know if the dual core 64's will work with older motherboards that support 64bit single core cpu's? If so, this would be great news for people like me who already have 64bit laptops, if not.. meh.
These services seem like good deals on the outside, but when you really look at the prices they charge, better deals can be found elsewhere. I'd like to see a decline in the high priced rental stores like Blockbuster, and a move to lower priced store with good selection. In my town, there are several small convenience stores that do very good business renting DVD's for cheap prices($2 Canadian after tax compared to the $6ish the Blockbuster charges). One store in particular always has many copies of all the new movies, plus tons of older ones. Plus, having the movies at a convenience store gives the added benefit of a large variety of snack foods to fill up on.
IMO PC games are much better than console games. You get to use the keyboard that you use all the time for typing, and can be crazy percice by using a good gaming mouse(like a mx510)..
Plus for multiplayer, you can just IM your friends, then start a game quick, without having to go turn your xbox on, and go to your tv to use the crappy controler..
Thus the joke 'Don't write FORTRAN' was applied to anyone with ugly code.
I mostly program in C, Java, php and C++(and several other languages that I dont use as much), and am always interested in picking up new languages to play around with. Is Fortran worth learning? And are there any things that it does a lot better than other languages?
meh. firefox still does a better job on the acid2 test. Although in general use, IE7 seems to do a pretty good job rendering pages

Didn't you see the update.. microsoft is F2'ing OpenGL to be a new 'advanced version' ClosedGL.
I fall for those every time! I got one yesterday that actually had [title][surname] in the body of the message. Must be a nice script they use..
I totally agree with you. Also for me, I know that I'll have enough cash laying around for a ps3 this winter/spring.. but 2007, I'm not so sure about.
I'm sorry sir, but the bot seems to be able to do your job better and faster than you can. No job for you!

Can a tracker-less torrent be slashdotted?

ROTFL, that is the best disclaimer ever!

That'd be one boring ass smart person, maybe throw a bit of Chris Rock's wit in there for fun.
I feel better about myself when I read comments like this..
*puke*
hah, someone wrote the address to that site on the board in our computing lab in permanent ink. Was funny to see how many people went to it.
It all depends on if the geeks were using Linux of not..

lol now that you have typed it on slashdot, in a few days "Linus is the devil" will have a result.
Searching for "bill gates is the devil" you get about 5100 returns. Thats a lot, but to be expected. Hell, if you search for "computers are the devil", you get 500 results. Or try "bush is the devil".. ~1000 returns. Even "religion is the devil" gets 4300 returns! Moral of the story, people hate a lot of things. :)

Screw ethics.. I want to be able to run faster, jump higher, and hell flying would be cool..
