Re:Open Source is better.
Just FYI - I had a lot of trouble finding instructions. So here you go:
http://tomatousb.org/forum/t-2...I used Lassik's instructions (multiple posts). And yes, I only found the firmware on the 4shared site:

Re:Characters
Well, our own Latin characters are pretty well preserved. Lapis Satricanus is from 500 BC and the font is quite modern.

Re:The WRT54G had a good run, but it's obsolete.
Tomato isn't dead... The main site isn't being updated--the devs either don't have access or don't update the site.
The two main branches of Tomato are:
Toastman: (What I use) http://www.4shared.com/dir/v1BuINP3/Toastman_Builds.html#dir=zBnbpdpY
Shibby: http://tomato.groov.pl/
I've been using Toastman tomato on a WNR3500Lv1 and a ASUS RT-N66U for months now. If you're going to get a new router, I'd strongly recommend the RT-N66U, because the WNR3500L has a v2 which is totally different hardware. In addition, the RT-N66U is very fast, stable (never crashed), nearly impossible to brick and is dual-band. The RT-N66U is $170, and it's been worth every penny. Signal output is very strong--I can pick up my internet in my neighbor's house, without adjusting transmitter output power. In addition, the devs appear to use the RT-N66U's personally, so it has the most testing.
Tomato has been rock solid, stable, and an excellent daily driver for me for the last 5 years or so. I strongly recommend it, and my friends and neighbors use it and have been very happy with it. Do update to Toastman or Shibby--they're doing an excellent job fixing issues and keeping things current.
I still use my WRT54G's as wireless bridges throughout my house, but they do show performance issues when I go above 10MBps Upload/30MB Download. -
Wrote my thesis about that.
About 6 years ago I wrote a thesis about this subject. Its main focus is the introduction of a new video game device in the Japanese market. And it was written before internet connected devices like the PS3 and XBox360 were on the market. For anyone interested, feel free to grab a copy or use it as material for your own thesis or report : http://www.4shared.com/office/8vhkle4Y/Bas_Vijfwinkel_Thesis.html

Simple English Translation done :)
I downloaded the original Cahier de l'admin ebook PDF here: http://www.4shared.com/document/AwZDpWi9/Cahier_de_ladmin_Debian.html
Then I uploaded the PDF to Split PDF since Google Translate has limit on large pdf, split pdf splits up the pdf into smaller chunks: http://foxyutils.com/splitpdf/
Then I reuploaded them to google docs and translated them back to english.
Seems to have worked perfectly for me
:) just do that instead of trying to hire tons of people I guess, just upload your ebook to google translator it does french to english perfectly. -
Re:Tomato
Tomato is stale? Spend 5 minutes looking around and you can find close to weekly updated builds http://www.4shared.com/dir/v1BuINP3/Toastman_Builds.html most stable and functional firmware i've encountered to date.

Re:first poster has no problems with dlink
I have an E3000 running Toastman's Tomato-USB build. He really piles in a lot of stuff in his firmware but what I like the most is that I can monitor bandwidth usage in near real-time (two second delay) using the web interface. I can even find out what specific machines are using bandwidth as well. Very stable. Haven't had one issue with it at all.

Re:Why Is It Wrong to Call This ESP?
Clearly, you are unfamiliar with your audience. From the ultimate tome of human knowledge (aka the Dungeon Master's Guide) ESP is Mind Reading.

Re:The answer is, of course...
There are tremendous economic advantages in participating in a division of labor economy. Private property rights are an essential component of the division of labor.
Anyone who individually violates these property rights will quickly be ejected from the division of labor and find himself as an outcast. If he gangs up with other bandits, they will still find themselves outnumbered and in a precarious position. If this brigand band succeed in bamboozling the productive class into paying monopolistic fees for "protection," this band still has to fear stronger bands of thieves or an internal uprising.
Finally if the band of thieves allows free entry into it's class through a universal suffrage democratic process, the line blurs between the political and productive class. This permits much higher levels of theft and regulation than would be accepted under a clear class distinction regime. The increasing theft and violation of property rights leads to the consumption of capital and the devolution of human society. With the loss of production capability, the health and longevity of members within such a society decreases until the point occurs that private property rights are rediscovered and respected once more.
The failure of a society to respect private property is that society's downfall. It is an economic certainty that this decivilizing effect will occur when property rights are systematically violated.

Re:Gotta love john carmack
I recently downloaded Rocket Manual for Amateurs(1960) and it's a classic. It contains some basic rocket science aimed at model rocket enthusiasts and for anyone interested at a layman level it's a must read.
-
Re:Sounds familiar.
Science Channel (USA) July 5th, 9 PM eastern time.
The (legendary) Rocket Manual For Amateurs is online as a PDF.
What the heck, grab a PDF of the LONG out of print Golden Book of Chemistry while you're at it.
Hey, kids! Set up your OWN chemistry lab bench and do real chemical experiments.
Like safely generating Chlorine gas.
Science Is FUN!

Re:Professional Write
You mean PFS Professional Write? You can download version 3.0 here (first Google search--might want to look around for other versions). You'll probably have to run it in some kind of compatibility mode or VM if the option is available.
PFS Professional Write had built-in conversion to other file formats like WordStar and WordPerfect. Those should be importable into modern-day Microsoft Word.
Alternately, you can use one of the plethora of file conversion utilities available on the 'net. Here's one that claims it can handle PFS files.

UNCONSTITUTIONAL
http://www.sltrib.com/News/ci_10592897
http://www.4shared.com/dir/9534755/19d8052b/sharing.html
Read this case Decided weeks prior to the KIDS Act being signed into law, addressing the State of Utah's version of the law. It is UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!! It will be fought, just the same as it was in the State of Utah...
You cannot search through someone's personal papers or communications without a warrant, issued by a judge, or "unmask" their identity in anonymous internet speech with proof that a crime has been committed or is being commited by a certain INDIVIDUAL.
Additionally, according to the decision of the Federal Judge in Utah sex offenders do not forfiet thier rights to protected anonymous online speech as a result of thier convictions, PERIOD!!!

Whatever
Though I doubt no one cares at this point, I took the images in the article, and the current google map images, and overlapped them. If it was a photoshop job they did a really good job with the traffic. If it was real, then the same cars just happen to park in the same places on those days. Or maybe the satellite passed by twice on the same day to take a shot at a different time. The link to my image file is here.
