Re:Barco...
Since I do not know your budget there are several ways. If you are going via data management & control center. Hare is one way http://www.matrox.com/graphics... they have complete packages. And other way is to a multi PC using ATI cards well AMD infinity for every PC 6 displays. That would make 6 PC's for 42 displays to get and idea, here are some links. http://www.9xmedia.com/new/pro... http://www.techradar.com/news/... hope this helps.

New monitor
I've always wanted a huge multiscreen display from here!

Re:Personally
Ah the icons... First I tell XP not to display anything but a garbage can(trash). It goes on bottom right (thanks apple) Then files that I'm working on get saved to desktop. Files i'm done with go in My Docs (also not displayed) and things that I was working on, and never finished go in a 'drop box' shortcut...
All together, there are only 2 icons that get to call my desktop home, Recycled and dropbox. I'm thinking about remove recycled.
Then I go find a desktop background that's not a corporate endorsement, or a woman, car, sports team. They're usually something abstract... and contrast with the icons rather well... meaning large fields of solid colors. It needs to be something that will span 3 screens. I tried a pic of the kids once, but it was too hard to find the icons against the background.
The 3rd one on this page has been my favorite for a long time. http://www.9xmedia.com/Pages-products/2000-Backgro unds.html -
Re:3 monitors
Why stop at 3 when an array of 30 40" lcd's is only $262,000?
-
Re:Just get two of the same LCD
If you are willing to do that, you can just use 'thin bezel' setup for multiple monitors - as
:-) shown here: http://www.9xmedia.com/ They even put it on one stand -
Whoa, what news this is...
I mean, no one has ever seen these over at http://www.tigerdirect.com/ and no one has ever visite http://www.9xmedia.com/. I am astounded that this stuff exists. Dual monitors. Wow.
Okay, dripping sarcasm aside, maybe there's a couple /.ers who haven't crawled out from under the glare of their monitors to look around and see what's new, but I am pretty sure most know that these things are out.
Yeah, you could go with a standard CRT, but I moved a 32 inch television the other day and used to roll out 21 inchers to coders at a former job and I really don't need to finally get a hernia. Personally, I'm waiting for laser based projectors to come down in cost. -
Re: The Monitor
Go-L doesn't actually make that huge monitor, and are most likely a bunch of frauds. Check out ViewSonic's, Panoram Tech's and 9XMedia's models.

Re:Mach L 3.8 etc..
anybody remember these guys? http://www.go-l.com/monitors/index.htm last i recall, they had fraud rumors flying left and right, but then they showed up to some convention or other with an actual setup and made everyone eat their words. i still think a lot of their desktop descriptions sound like complete hogwash, but whatever. that grand canyon display still looks pretty badass.
Or, for a wider range of multi-monitor styles, you could check out 9X Media. Their expandable multimonitor units run up to 32 displays; their 3-over-3 six-monitor configuration would be almost ideal for a flight simulator, particularly an air-combat sim -- the front three and front-up three views visible all at once would improve your SA in a dogfight situation immensely.
Of course, with a setup like that, you're limited in your choice of video cards; only the Colorgraphics Xentera video card is available in an eight-head model, and that's only available for PCI, and only supports eight displays in analog mode (4 DVI outputs); if you were willing to sack the up/front/right and up/front/left views, though, you could get 9X Media's 1-over-3 monitor configuration and the Xentera GT-4 quad-head card, which supports 4 DVI displays and is available for AGP. Of course, the video card is pricey, but when you're ponying up $7,400 for the four-monitor display unit, what's a $600 video card? Besides, $8,000 for a multiple-monitor gaming configuration that none of your games support is the ne plus ultra of excessive technology -- the mark of the true uber-geek. -

Seems real enough to me... -
Why stop at three?
Once you get your head wrapped around how to use them efficently, your productivity goes up.
Isn't it more about getting them wrapped around your head efficiently? (Insert "Soviet Russia" joke here.)
I'd like one of these.
Yes, it is a photoshop (and a simple one at that), but it is based on this offering. The company also has wall-mounted systems that let you build a display in an 8x8 grid (64 heads). -
may have been cheaper...
to go with one of these babys

Re:ATI Hydravision Xfree86 Xinerama Enlightenment.
Oh yeah, my dream setup is to have a Matrox Parhelia and a 9X Media 3 pane display.

Problem solved...
I stopped getting sick after I replaced my chair with my old 19" CRT (kinda like sitting on one of those backless Swedish chairs) and expensed the 6 x 19" display.Odd, now my boss is calling in sick a lot...
