Re:ESR has a point
WoW runs just as happily using OpenGL on Windows and OSX - I'm not quite sure if there's a technical reason for the lack of a Linux client. Sign the petition and see if Blizz will change their minds.

World Of Warcraft: time us to not run Windows.
I guess its time to get the World of Warcraft running under Linux.
Wine can't run as fast as a native port, so look here:
so I am signing the BlizzPub World of Warcraft on Linux petition
Here is the pointer that lead me to the petition. -
Petition WoW for Linux
WoW already has great OpenGL support, it shouldn't be that hard for a company like Blizzard to port WoW to Linux.
There's already an online petition to get WoW ported to Linux claiming 23725 signatures (at the time of my posting this).
Sign it here.
(disclaimer: I'm not connected with the creaters/pwners of the site in any way what-so-ever, I just really want this to happen.)You don't need to own or currently play World of Warcraft to sign; you just have to support the idea of it being ported to Linux. Please support this. This would make an incredibly strong argument for Linux as a viable gaming platform.

Re:I can see it now
Speaking of Linux and WoW, people should sign the petition. WoW runs fairly smoothly with WINE, once you patched the cursor bug, but it's not as smooth as it could be.

Re:Linux version?
How many copies would you buy?
How about almost 18 thousand?

Re:This is the main drawback for me`
that is the idea!
That is why the "Dark Forces" threaten *any* company that dare port their games to Linux
.
* Half-Life had just about been ported to Linux but then ... silence.
* Tribes 2 was ported and was extremely successful, then all of a sudden - all distributors were explicitly prohibited in making more copies. Despite huge demand.
* For sometime people have been lobbying to get WarCraft ported to Linux, the current signature holds 12'000. Not only that was ignored, but the attempt to have a Linux free alternative was immediately culled.
Again and again - understand - if Linux or Apple become true gaming platform, Microsoft will lose the Desktop war for good.
That is why we have the Blizzards, Vivendis and Sierras pro-actively stopping such thing from happening.
Of course they don't mind using Linux to develop game servers; free platform and stability; suits them all very fine ... "thanks very much!" - they say. -

I have my Linux machine in DMZand this week end I decided to play World of Warcraft so I poked an older hard drive in and installed Windows XP on that drive. The installation was taking forever to happen and I was wondering why! It turns out that my machine was infected even before my first boot. It was infected while the machine was installing!!
On first boot my computer was extremely slow and I had IE popups all over the place for gay porn and viagra.
Ok sure it wasn't the smartest thing to forget that this MAC address was in DMZ but damn!!! Shouldn't Windows be more secure by default?
So I decided to get myself a mac but still ask everyone to please sign the petition to get world of warcraft on linux. I'm not sure it will do much but at least it will show that there is a desire there. Not everyone can afford a Mac and some people don't want Windows on their machine for what are now obvious reasons to me anyways.

if you want more games under linuxplease sign any petition helping Linux go in that direction.
There is one petition asking for World of Warcraft to work under Linux. Sign it and pass it on.

Please sign the petition to get World of Warcraft ported to Linux.

Linux petition
Anyone interested in passively promoting development of World of Warcraft on Linux through a petition can have a look at this site. With a Mac port already, they're more than halfway there.
