Re:Wha?
okay, so i rta then i went to wikipedia and rtd (read the definition) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_novel.
reminds me of broken saints though only interactive ( http://bs.brokensaints.com/dvd/# )
with software like koolmoves you could do the same only with animation as well and a locked file format (well, if you don't have any issues with flash) -
Re:Yay.
LoL...Boondock Saints...starring William Dafoe...sorry it was funny...
I think you mean "Broken Saints" -
Re:If there is a God...
The big rumor consensus is that the Xbox 360 will indeed be the weakest of all three next-gen systems. If Aries is to be believed, Revolution will be more powerful, and PS3 will be the most powerful.
And now, just because I have the opportunity, I'll state the hype that I think is most likely.
Nintendo On: Proven fake
Aries (self-claimed developer informant): I believe him, but his name has been compromised to the point of dilution now. But I think all of his own posts were made earnest.
Major Nelson's Revolution info sighting: Probably not a joke, but he didn't really see anything substantial anyways
Nesvolution split controller mock-ups: Definitely fake, especially if you believe Aries
Slot-loader Revolution mock-ups (Mac Mini style, wireless controller indicators on the left): Definitely fake (they are not photos), but I think an official design would probably not deviate from this design too drastically, given the dimensions that Nintendo themselves have already announced
I wouldn't expect MS to roll over and die, though. It's on a lot of people's minds and in a lot of people's hearts, but I just don't see it happening yet. I think they will go with their patented "third time's the charm" strategy, and there's no way of knowing whether that system will fail yet. -
Broken Saints: Game that contains the B.T.S. pw
Broken Saints seems like an interesting series. Has anyone found the password for the B.T.S.? Any hints as to which game contains (or does not contain) the password? Thanks.
The games and B.T.S. can be found under the A/V sub menu on the original Broken Saints site

The website won't work with most popup-blockers enabled, so here's a direct link.

Select a copy from one of these 'mirrors'.
I think of it as Dr. Strangelove compressed down into a 90-second animated masterpiece!
This and Broken Saints prove that Flash can be used for serious storytelling as well as annoying online advertisements. -
Re:Who Needs Flash?
Broken Saints uses flash the way it's meant to be used.
It's an online, cinematic novel-esque story thing. The DVD is coming out in October, and looks to be truly excellent. ...Macromedia is forever evil in my books, until they come out with a plugin for Shockwave on Linux. Boo on them. -

Re:First site(s) to visit?Well, I was just about to post "D00d! Check out All-your-base-are-belong-to-us!"
:-)But the Litte Ninjai is nice, as is Broken Saints and even Homestar Runner (which you probably already know).
If you are more into design oriented websites (like me), check out the news section on Kaliber 10000, Linkdup and many more.
Regarding that All-your-base comment: Once you Linux people get proper video playback, I will show you a video of Steve Ballmer dancing like crazy. You won't believe it!
:-))
(Yes, this is meant as a joke.) -
Oh geez, the logo on those...
... gave me quite a turn. Also the slogan "Get Chipped!". Compare the logo in the PDF to that of Broken Saints. The logo in BS represents, among other things, another chip which is implanted in people for supposedly good purposes...

Re:i hate flash..
the problems that you're citing are problems of the particular implimentation and not Flash itself.
Except that the the problems turn out to be caused by a technical choice between event and stream audio in Flash. More info here:
Broken Saint's FAQ

I suppose...
Broken Saint's animation is cool, but the story bores me I'm afraid to say. (I think I just get tired of reading and wish they included a voice audio).
I also wish they had a "play the whole story" button, it's a pain waiting for their lovely, but ultimately time wasting graphics as I navigate between episodes. And before you say anything yes, I am aware they provide zipped copies of the episodes for download and easy viewing (I think this is very nice of them).
In my book the best flash animation site has got to be this one. I just wish new episodes were made available a little more frequently.

Benefits of Slashdotting
Since Brokensaint isn't a slashdot user, I guess the article author will remain anonymous. It's hard to tell whether their intentions were good or bad; I pulled down 131mb of zipped episodes (1-22, plus trailer) from http://bs.brokensaints.com/av/downloads/ just now, and so in a sense I guess that's a bit of bandwidth hurt.
It seems kind of odd that the second-to-last episode, and not any of the others (like, say, the first) would merit a Slashdotting, but really now is a good time since there's more to see--better late than never.
But if even nine other people do what I did then that's 1.31gigs of data transfer; someone's got to pay for that. With any luck there'll be a benevolent user somewhere among the mix who's willing to contribute. The benefits of willfully Slashdotting are thus mixed at best: greater exposure but probably a low click to pay ratio.
At any rate, the comic is good. Hooray for pseudo-animation.

Re:With a 386...
Not movies per-say, but a lot of sites are coming out built almost entirely (and annoyingly so) in flash.
Some of this is acceptabe, such as sites totally dedicated towards flash entertainment in the first place, but in other cases flash/java/javaScript just leaves a lot of people in the cold.
