Must start with male
As is common knowledge, only male racers participate in the Boonta Eve Classic.

Re:Gotta watch those promises
God: Ok, roll a saving throw.
Sodom & Gomorrah: *rolls* 1. Uh-oh.Ok, now someone needs to write a version of the bible with God as the DM and the major characters as players (or NPCs). Something along the lines of Darths and Droids.

Re:This is like taking over the Death Star
It's now called the Life Star, and instead of blowing up planets, it'll cover them with a spray of flowers.
Or something.
I just wanted to use the Star Wars metaphor.
Everyone knows it should be called the Peace Moon.

Re:The Truth
It can be hard to break into (but well worth it) alas I can only provide a UK perspective but I suspect its valid elsewhere
The main problem is finding people to game with options include
- finding a (physical) games shop and seeing it it has a players wanted board
- googling for phrases like 'games day' 'games fest' 'games convention' 'games club|soc|society'
- if there is a local university, collage or similar see if they have a games soc.
one really radical solution is to start your own games day!! I go to one that was started by a guy who wanted to play games but didn't have any so he advertised a games day. For the first few meets you need somewhere free but with luck you have an entry fee and hire a hall.
The main thing to remember is that you may need to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your perfect group. There are a lot of styles of play from the hyper stimulationist where they endlessly discuss agrarian economics and the effects that low level magic usage would have on it, to group that likes to hang out and crack poor quality jokes
try reading GM of the Rings and Darths and Droids to get a idea of different play styles (I'd give my eye teeth to be in the Darths and Droids group!!!)

Re:Would you prefer a completely clueless jury the
Having never actually served on a jury, how exactly would a juror go about learning what a phrase means if everyone was acting like it's supposed to be common knowledge? Do they just, like, raise their hand and ask?
David Morgan-Marr (creative force behind Irregular Webcomic and Darths & Droids) has an account of service on a jury in which the jury asks for clarification on a point. It's quite an interesting read in total, but the sections regarding jury confusion are found on page 12 (at the end of witness 26 and end of witness 29), page 19 (most of witness 50), page 20 (not much happened with the jury that day) and concluding at the top of page 22.
While this jury trial occurred in Austrailia, the basic tenets are the same.

darths and droids will clean you mind
Darths and droids has succesfully made me overcome my star wars traumas and even feel happy with jar jar binks and anakin; start at the beginning here: http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/0001.html Warning: after this you will never be able to see star wars in the same way again;)

Re:Did she mention Stupid?
A lot of these characters are STUPID, but I don't think that's a good enough description for a redeeming movie.
That was actually the point of the movie. It's all about the downfall of the Republic, characterized by Queen Amidala's ineffectual term as Senator, and the decadence of the Jedi Order, demonstrated by how even "renegade" Qui Gon Jinn tells Obi Wan to let The Force guide him. When Qui Gon said "There's always a bigger fish" he didnt mean "It sure was lucky that a bigger fish came by", he actually means it.
And don't dis Muppets!

Re:TL;DW
So if we take out the "Anakin crap", we are left with a young Obi Wan, a half built C3PO, and Jar Jar.
You're left with Qui Gon and Obi Wan beating up a bunch of droids with light sabres, then some blurry stuff where we just can't seem to pay attention, then Qui Gon and Obi Wan beating up Darth Maul with light sabres. Then the credits roll, and nobody even remembered the Lost Orb of Phantastacoria.
I've seen worse movies.

Darths & Droids
Darths & Droids makes a much better job of making sense of 1 and 2 I've long thought that TPM played like an OK RPG campaign FX the whole podracing thing happened because the GM had picked up some racing boardgame and was itching to use it.

Re:Wii, lightsabre game?As to the weight of the light saber -- have we established it would have no weight?
A laser sword has to be a magnetically contained tube of plasma; anything else is clearly ludicrous. It cannot have a very high rest mass, and a high enough thermal energy density for it to have a significant weight from the energy... well, that would cook the planet.
However, interesting side-effects might arise from moving such an intense magnetic field at such speed. There should be a current flow. Lightsabers ought to crackle and discharge to nearby objects; they'd be EVEN COOLER that way.
