So does image search. It also suggests that the usual cargo for a kounotori is human babies. Are they hiding something from us?

Re:Who?
Who?
Steve Jackson Games
What?
Look, I know that nobody reads the fantastic article, but you're allowed to read the summary. Steve Jackson is the founder and editor-in-chief of Steve Jackson Games. What's Steve Jackson Games? Well, since you're clearly new to this whole "internet" thing, that underlined text is what's called a hyperlink. You can click on it and it will take you to another web page with additional information. Or there's this marvelous invention called a 'search engine' (of which there are several) that will let you put in practically any series of characters you can think of, and it will generate a list of resources that contain additional information on your query.

So close and then a miss.
Right now there are large urban areas that have enough people to vote to favor them over the rest of the populations in their state. Chicago does this to IL and NYC does this to to NYS. Until you get back to a republican form of government for the states, which is required by our constitution, these people that live over large areas of the country are being held hostage to the policies of the large cities. Take a look at a vote map by county some time. Sectionalism is going to cause a Civil War in this country if we continue on this path. Giving more power to democracy will just further strengthen the large urban populations to control policy over those who are more diffuse in the states and the federal government. It is no the answer to the problem, it is the problem. Some kind of splitting up needs to happen, while it can happen peacefully, instead of further entrenching the status quo.
Look here is a map showing voting by counties Why should the Dense Urban areas control the Rural areas policies? Its going to be ugly if we have 3 wolves and 2 sheep voting on whats for dinner, or rather Urban Density voting for policies that favor them at the expense of the Rural areas. -

Varies by phone, I did it easily enough on an Adroid 2.4. Most texts come thru but if I suspect a picture, I consider the source first before downloading. Suppose I could confirm via text that they intended to send a pic too.

Re:Anubis IV, which sockpuppet'd you use?
The first DuckDuckGo search I did turned up our last discussion. But thanks for jumping to wrong conclusions that are easily disproven and then basing a series of false accusations on them. I've come to expect nothing less from you.
(quick aside: while I know others have multiple accounts, this is my only one, and the only time I post as AC is when I post sensitive information)
Anyway, I have no intention of getting dragged into another discussion with you. You and I have already said what we want to say to each other, both in that last discussion and in the one that preceded it (which is linked from the last one). I have nothing more to add, and I'm frankly not interested in hearing anything else you might have to say.
Have a good day.

Re:There's no reason to go to the moon again
Yep, up to bullet point 3.
Stuff just keeps getting cheaper, for the most part.
Well, oil prices have gone up. Until the cost of petroleum rose so high it was almost cheaper to make it from turkey guts. (Much faster than waiting for geology to make petroleum, and the imitation crude oil made was almost good enough to use, as-is.) And new technology arose, then OPEC wised up.
That's the general trend line for natural resource costs. Down. Exceptions tend to be few, and temporary. Just ask Paul Ehrlich. http://duckduckgo.com/?q=paul....

Depending on your own interests - you might type in some country in a Google search, and add "times" or "post" or "news". From time to time, I do something like that - the earthquake in Tibet for instance. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=pale... That search offered up a number of sites, but I didn't add any of them to my feeds. Note that many of the hits are very politicized, but you can still find Tibetan news sources among them.
Have fun!

Re:Just run your own
Someone may correct me if there's more to it, but I think it's just that some people are uncomfortable with Google having so much access to information about us. Any DNS server you access will have the potential to keep records of which IP addresses made which queries, which potentially gives Google even more tracking data. As far as I know, there's no real sign that they're using that data, but to some extent, they're a company that makes money from collecting data about their users, so...
I just happen to use and dare say trust Goggle, no matter what search engine you use with the exception of https://duckduckgo.com/ will track you. I do read the ToS's and privacy policies of any site I'm about to register on it's the data collected that your being informed of, I've refused to register on some sites over it or had second thoughts and bailed (Microsoft's Insiders program).
It's many features or abilities is why I use Goggle - and they give back to the community, the only company I know of that does it on their scale, Goggle Earth while very useful was first seen as incredible; it's now Goggle Earth Pro.
Above all you have to remember they make their living off of your data, Goggle Earth Pro was once sold (mostly to companies doing demographics), it will show you the tax assessment of every building I've check but one. I have an unlikely video hit on youtube.com the demographics given me are vast, and varied - while myself I'd never put an ad or overlay on any video; it's interesting the ages of people who are most likely to participate in a specific activity.
Angry Birds (www.Rovio.com) has or had (it's been awhile, and now have it blocked) what was the most informative ToS and privacy policy I've ever read. They list where your data is being sent, the only one left in question is what does "data sent overseas" mean. The data they collect they sale to Flurry.com (Goggle) who with that data and what Goggle has collected are combined and sold to advertisers who wish to send ad's that you would be interested in (targeted ads). It's important to get your mobile devices opt'ed out of Flurry.com
Bottom line, I trust Goggle to a point, as I won't use their DNS's, while tracking is ok within reason, I don't need to give it to them, and what's collected going through their DNS's? All ToS's and such claim unidentifiable information (but they've got your IP address) they don't need to know who you are, just your interest. There's a reason another Goggle sever center is being built, they need more space for what they do.

https://duckduckgo.com/ They don't track you or sell your data and do a pretty good job.

Re:Good for them!
If I can't find something, I can always to go Google.com and look for it.
DDG can even handle that part for you. Check into their bangs. They have "!g" to automatically run your search through Google for you, saving you the hassle of navigating there yourself. I miss the inline map results when searching for addresses, so I'll use a !g on those to save myself the hassle of pulling up Google Maps directly...and I just noticed they have a !gmap, so I'll likely start using that instead.

code search
if you are searching for code (eg function names and how to use them), then use a code search engine. Since google shut down theirs you can try https://code.openhub.net/ https://codesearch.debian.net/ ( !co and !dsource respectively on duckduckgo https://duckduckgo.com/bang )

Re:AWESOME!
Speaking of making money: if the climate models are right (or right enough) to make major economic policy changes that affect literally billions of people, a savvy person could make money off those denier rubes.
Just apply Allison's Precept, and bet them about near-future climate changes. They'll think the models are hooey, bet against them being right, be wrong (of course) and you'll not only win money, but they'll lose money. http://duckduckgo.com/?q=allis...
You ever try that?
So far, I've not found a believer in AGW who is willing to risk their own money on the validity of those climate models, but is perfectly willing to risk the chances of increased prosperity for the poorest of the world's people on their validity.
Maybe today will be different.

Re:Uhuh.
blacks neither adopted (made use of) the wheel nor of written languages.
Egypt, an African nation
Reading comprehension fail. Or you're an out and out SJW liar.
Ah; I see... you have some magical point at which skin pigmentation affects people's ability to write and use wheels. Might this be why I not only mentioned Egypt, whose inhabitants some might not consider "black enough" but also Sudan? Is this skin pigmentation dark enough for you to call "black"?
The entire point of calling out Egypt was to draw parallels with Sudan (the cultures lined up quite well, off by time more than by anything else) as everyone knows about Egypt.
So if you're not actually talking about skin pigmentation, and you're not talking genetics, what, pray tell, do you mean by "blacks?" If you're being racist, it's useful to actually define what you mean by race.
Oh yes, and what I didn't add to my other points: Many of the native peoples of North America and the Pacific islands also failed to create a written language or use the wheel. Some of them built quite advanced civilizations.

Re:cost recoup
Flights get cancelled all of the time. It's just part of the business. Flights get cancelled by computer glitches all of the time as well, yet you don't see the airlines going back to the pre-punch card tickets. Despite what some posters around here would like you to believe, computers screw up. But we still keep them.
I guess it's like a dysfunctional relationship. We're codependent.

Re: Something more useful
Every second you spend on thinking of how to "fix" their integrity, is a second you could spend on something much more useful, like thinking about how to make dog shit taste like chocolate pudding.
No need as far as dogs are concerned. They alread think it does.
Many veterinary web sites talk about this.

Re:Mass Murder
It's even worse than that
... Turkey actively supports ISIS by buying oil from the oil-fields the terrorists have taken-over. (Something the rest of the world frowns upon.) This is one of the reasons that ISIS is the best funded terrorist group in history. From the article:
Unlike other major terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda, which are primarily reliant on wealthy donors, ISIS gets most of its funding not from the illegal market sale of oil, as well as from ransoms and extortion.
Another showing of Turkey's true colors came when the Turkish army (soldiers, tanks, etc) literally stood by and watched ISIS slaughter Kurds in the neighboring town of Kobani: Turkey’s act of abandonment may mark an 'irrevocable breach' with Kurds across the region

Re:How Bing learns
Ah, but DDG has !bangs, so you can... duck?... for "!g foo" to get the Google results instead. I spent a few days acclimating to DDG and now use it for almost everything, falling back to Google for the 1% of the time when I don't get the results I expect. Also works for a few hundred other things, including the old green mare herself: "!/. foo" searches Slashdot.
-
Re:How Bing learns
DuckDuckGo uses Bing, but it does some nice enhancements, like putting Wikipedia results first very often. If you want to live a Google-free life, and don't want to give your search history to MS either - ddg.gg.

Re:That's because
https://duckduckgo.com/l/?kh=-...
Looks like I was looking at older data. However, the answer is likely that it was an easy way to unlock phones sold in the N. American market. Every time Apple releases a new phone, a bunch are bought up on the west coast by people who jailbreak them, unlock them, and then sell them in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China. This likely accounts for both the large number of jailbroken devices and for the decline, as a larger and larger number of legit devices are sold directly into the Chinese market.

Re:Brits hated him so much....
Psychological manipulation or social influence is not necessarily negative depending on how it affects YOU. If it benefits you then it is in your interest to promote it. Do you understand? I know of Tommy Flowers, and you know of Tommy Flowers, and when somebody reads this they know of Tommy Flowers and the secret will eventually spread . But for now the masses will believe a gay man Alan Turing, was the person responsible for shortening the war. it benefits gay people and it is meant to make heterosexual people ashamed for mistreating homosexual people. http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?TommyFl... ( On the other hand, in early 1998 Tommy Flowers said with great feeling to a friend of mine, when Nic referred to AlanTuring's "great contribution" to Colossus (and I accept Colossus and the enigma code breakers had a key role in the Allies defeating Hitler): "Alan Turing had nothing to do with it!" It seemed like it wasn't the first time he had heard of Turing's "great contribution" to the engineering and practical breakthroughs that nobody now questions Tommy was crucially involved in - and he was quite keen to put the record straight! ). https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ouk&...

Re:Ethics?
(Not the same AC as above.)
Depression Quest has gotten a ton of attention and received many reviews, some of which have been positive. Since you ask for specifics, here's a particularly gushing one. Given the timing and the fact that that reviewer does hardly any video game reviews, it's safe to say the this is a result of her relationship with a journalist and the ensuing fallout from that.
I'm betting that's not what you meant though. You probably meant that the only real corruption is quid pro quo corruption, and that if a review wasn't written by the same journalist who slept with her then obviously it doesn't count. The supreme court certainly seems to agree with you, but many of the rest of us feel that a cozy relationship of that nature is one that comes with intangible perks. There's no reason why, for example, her boyfriend at Kotaku couldn't raise his hand at a meeting and say, "Hey, how about this game Depression Quest that my girlfriend made? I think someone should review that. Not me of course, because I am filled with integrity, but one of you should give her some free press."

Re:Update to Godwin's law?
According to DuckDuckGo.
https://duckduckgo.com/privacyFor sure they COULD be lying, and open them selves up to bad press and legal action when they are found out. But so could ANY company, so what other choice is there than to go with the probability that their privacy policy is what they say it is.
I do need to use a search engine, and I know for a fact that Google save searches, and I have a feeling that Bing and Yahoo do, though I haven't checked recently. So it's a pretty easy choice.
What search engine do YOU use?

Re:Lucky them
Actually, when people say googling, they really do mean "look it up using Google."
Actually, no, they don't. They mean "look it up with whatever search engine you usually use". As in, google it with Bing".

What Have They Done!
Nature will undoubtedly intervene. Selection will naturally favor salmon that fly better. Evolution will possibly favor simple gliding at first. Then, add some maneuvarability to just enough dodge the birds and land in better places. Specialization might spawn a more nocturnal flying 'stealth' branch. Then, as the years go by....
Anthropocene fallout : Flying Squid.
