No, not all security is obscurity. If your list of things that need to be kept secret includes your security implementation, and especially your algorithm, then you have flawed security. Multi-level security increases the number of things you need to have and/or know in order to compromise the system. With e.g. ROT-13 or another shift cipher, once you know that they are using that cipher, there is no other knowledge that you need in order to break it. On the other hand, if you have an arbitrary number of keys and the knowledge that your opponent is using e.g. SSL, you don't have any greater ability to compromise other users.

Security through obscurity may be an overused phrase, but it does have a specific meaning; it only really makes sense in the context of security systems. You may use words however you wish, but to me that's not glory.

You're acting like George Lucas, insisting that one needs an excuse (Lucas's official line is that Han shooting Greedo first makes him seem cold and heartless, nevermind the fact that Greedo had a gun pointed at him, and besides, "cold and heartless" is how we like Han, anyway). You haven't actually said it, but I've heard many people say "Han shot first". That makes no sense, "Greedo shot first" does.
I mean, when you say "Greedo shot first", you can then go on and say "...And then Han shot back and killed him/it". But you just can't say "Han shot first"... and what, Greedo shot next?
So my advice to you, my dear friends, is to quit saying "Han shot first". You should instead be saying "Only Han shot" or "Greedo never shot", or pointing people to the Top 10 Other Things that Han Shot that Didn't Shoot at Him First page.

Han Solo unsportingly blasted Greedo under the table. It makes Solo look like a cold-blooded killer.

Lucas wanted it changed in the special edition to make it look like Han shot in self-defense only after being shot at first. The scene looks like crap. Fans universally hate it.

George Lucas thought the scene between Han Solo and Greedo in the cantina made Han cold blooded. Let's think about the original scene, shall we? Greedo the bounty hunter is holding Han at gunpoint and says in his gurgly argot that he is going to kill him. Han shoots Greedo through the table before Greedo can blow Han a new smuggling hatch. That's makes Han cool-- not cold.

Now let's look at the new scene. Greedo is sitting with Han at gunpoint again, only this time Greedo states his intent to kill Han and then shoots the wall. Han quickly avenges the stucco and blows away Greedo. Boy does the new scene stink! Even a stormtrooper could have hit Han at that distance! Perhaps Greedo turned to a life of crime after flunking out of Stormtrooper Academy.

Shh! If Lucas finds out that Han Solo uttered an incorrect measure of time and/or distance, he'll change it. To something like "She can make the Kessel run in 12 parsecs [dubbed, flat voice] per Galactic standard cycle.

Wow, I actually had no idea what this was referring to... so of course I google'd, and found the whole sordid story.

I didn't have a clue that was ever the case (hey, I was young when I watched both versions! heh). This really does astound me, though. Lucas is a goddamned moron, and really has no clue how to make a compelling story anymore. So sad.

The cantina scene in 'a new hope' was changed so that greedo (the bug-eyed bounty hunter) shot at han solo first, then han shot him back, killing him. the original had han just shooting him under the table. it's pretty rediculous in the redo since they're sitting at a table no more than 5 feet apart. greedo has his gun pointed at hans chest and shoots...and MISSES!!! He's a freakin' bounty hunter! he captures/kills people all the time. he wouldn't miss at point blank range. it's stupid.
