Re:Refactoring
Florida has Online Sunshine - Their deep revision history is hidden, but the current text is reasonably well indexed. Interaction with Federal and Local laws is left in the domain of weasels for hire.

Re:Prepare for cranial explosions!Try again, this time understanding something about the structure of the court system in Florida. The Florida Bar is an agent of the Supreme Court of Florida:
Article V, Section 15 of the Constitution of the State of Florida gives the Supreme Court of Florida exclusive and ultimate authority to regulate the admission of persons to the practice of law and the discipline of those persons who are admitted to practice. The Court performs those official functions through two separate arms: the Florida Board of Bar Examiners , which screens, tests and certifies candidates for admission to the practice; and The Florida Bar, the investigative and prosecutorial authority in the lawyer regulatory process. Neither of these two agencies, nor any of their functions, is supported by state tax dollars

Re:Been done before
Yes. The "jack e thompson" listed on that page is not eligible to practice law in Florida because he is dead. The Jack Thompson that hates videogames is not only quite alive but is legally named John Bruce Thompson. John Bruce Thompson is still eligible to practice law in Florida.

Re:Been done before
You are incorrect. This is his actual entry on the florida bar member search page :
http://www.floridabar.org/names.nsf/All/07D0790038 98F95585256A830051348B?OpenDocument
as you can see, he is still eligible to practice law in florida.
(if he weren't, there would be no need to give him a 90 day suspension) -
Re:Been done before
Actually, according to this link, he's presently not allowed to practice law in Florida. One state down, 49 to go!

To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is regarding the current status of the license to practice law currently granted to Jack Thompson through the Florida Bar Association.
Jack Thompson is a very controversial lawyer, more often than not resorting to political matters to solve his own personal disputes rather than through the legal system. However, in recent months, it has become clear to me that Thompson is not merely a controversial individual, but is also a very corrupt, callous, and often rude individual who, in my own estimation, does not exemplify the ethical and moral principles for which a lawyer should hold, and I believe that the Florida Bar Association, in holding with the claim that "One of the primary purposes of The Florida Bar is to assure the highest standards of professionalism in the practice of law for the benefit of members and the public.", must organize a referendum to determine if Jack Thompson should be able to continue practicing law as a licensed attorney. Evidence for this need is widespread and incriminating. Examples of this unprofessional and unethical behavior are detailed below, and I urge those who this concerns to properly review these actions by this callous individual carefully.
Recently, he has engaged in a very callous, unprovoked and irresponsible tirade with the creator of the popular VGCats online web comic (http://www.vgcats.com/ and evidence of this encounter is available here: http://www.vgcats.com/jack.php. During this exchange, Jack Thompson made a number of references questioning Scott Ramsoomair's sexuality, intelligence, and his use of psychotropic drugs, all of which are unsubstantiated and irrelevant to the discourse (which Mr. Thompson initiated), and then proceeded to threaten legal action in an irresponsible manner.
During this discourse, after initiating contact with Mr. Ramsoomair and proceeding to insult him, he then claimed that he had not initiated contact, despite the fact that it is verifiable that Mr. Thompson did initiate contact.
This kind of conversational process is not uncommon with Mr. Thompson, and a simple search can uncover literally dozens of people and organizations who have had incredibly negative and often dishonest discourse with Mr. Thompson, commonly initiated by Mr. Thompson himself.

Furthermore, Mr. Thompson has made claims that the creators of the extremely popular online webcomic Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com/ Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, were "criminally harassing" him. However, this harassment allegation was made in response to a single e-mail sent to Mr. Thompson which responded to a proposal made by Mr. Thompson (where he requested that someone make an extraordinarily violent video game directed at a specific individual in exchange for $10,000 donated to a charity [source: http://gc.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=5883%5D ). Re:Disbarrment
I know I'm responding to a troll, but out of curiousity I did a search. If you go to http://www.floridabar.org/ and do a search for last name Thompson, no Jack Thompson shows up.
I don't know if this really has any bearing on whether he's really a lawyer in FLA. Its possible that not all lawyers in florida are in that list, or that his real first name is James or something similar and he just goes by Jack.
I believe its also possible to pass the bar in states like New York, and be allowed to practice in other states because the standards to enter the bar in New York are tougher. -
Re:Bar sanctions needed
The most likely way that he would receive professional discipline would be as a result of one or more well-reasoned, viable complaints to the bar.
I believe this is the proper form. -

Re:Disbarrment
On the off chance that someone who is dealing with Jack Thompson reads this, here is the procedure for filing a complaint against a Florida lawyer.
I would do it myself, but you have to be in some way involved with the lawyer (client or opponent) to file a complaint, it seems. -
Lawyer Honesty and Misconduct
I'm just curious why no one has contacted his Bar association. From what I'm reading in these various transcripts, if they are indeed accurate, he is violating several of their ethical guidelines, particularly with his threats. In the very least, several complaints made against him to the Bar would require a review of his actions and the reflections they are making on the legal profession in his jurisdiction.
He would be taken quite a bit less seriously if his teeth were removed and he was no longer able to legally practice law.
From the Florida Board of Bar Examiners website:
"The primary purpose of the bar examination is to ensure that all who are ultimately admitted have demonstrated minimum technical competence. In order to be admitted in Florida, an applicant must have proof of good moral character and must successfully complete the Florida Bar Examination."
In the admission requirements are then the following items:
"What is disqualifying conduct?
Pursuant to Rule 3-11 a record manifesting a deficiency in the honesty, trustworthiness, diligence, or reliability may constitute a basis for denial of admission. Any of the following may be considered by the Board to be a basis for further inquiry before recommending admission:
* Unlawful conduct
* Academic misconduct
* Making or procuring any false or misleading statement or omission of relevant information, including any false or misleading statement or omission on the Bar Application, or any amendment, or in any testimony or sworn statement submitted to the Board.
* Misconduct in employment
* Acts involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
* Abuse of legal process
* Financial irresponsibility
* Neglect of professional obligations
* Violation of an order of a court
* Evidence of mental or emotional instability
* Evidence of drug or alcohol dependency
* Denial of admission to the bar in another jurisdiction on character and fitness grounds
* Disciplinary action by a lawyer disciplinary agency or other professional disciplinary agency of any jurisdiction
* Any other conduct which reflects adversely upon the character and fitness of the applicant
