Whose prick was so long he could suck it,
He said with a grin,
As he wiped off his chin,

Say what you will about Microsoft, but I'll start using Linux on my production machines when I want to start losing money. Get the facts, people.
1. The discussion is about Microsoft and Open Office, not Linux.
2. What makes Linux a good decision when you are losing money but not a good decision if you are profitable?
3. Profit!

obvious troll is obvious.

- Windows Vista TCO = 996$
From TFA:
- Staffing - the cost of managing and maintaining IT systems-accounts for 60 percent of TCO.
- Downtime is 15 percent of TCO.
Interesting. This actually allows you to compute the TCO of a PC running Windows Vista Ultimate: $249 / (100% - 60% - 15%) = 996$

Hmm... posting Microsoft sponsored and paid for FUD, that hypes their interoperability on a post that talks about how that interoperability is actually non-existent.
Think you need to get the real facts.
And find unbiased websites to cite.

Re:Tested on a beta...
Yeah whatever, you Linux nerds wouldn't know TCO from your own B.O. Get the fa... Oh, wait... Damnit.
-
Re:Tested on a beta...
All of this may be true, but I still think that writing articles about this in regards to what still is a beta product is sensationalistic and unethical.
Please keep in mind that Microsoft is also sensationalistic and unethical at times, and this article could be viewed as Linux marketing.

Re:Driver issue
"Because we can" the neckbearded Linux dweebs living in their mother's basement will tell you in between LARP sessions and shoving greased up Yoda dolls into their asses, while the adults are running rock-solid proprietary software on their server machines to do things which are actually important. So, how's it feel to be astroturfing for a buggy whip manufacturer well after the introduction of automobiles? Pay well?
Open-source is nothing more nor less than the commoditization of software. Commodities sell for pretty much the marginal costs to produce another copy. The marginal cost to produce another copy of software is zero.
Microsoft is fighting a losing battle. No one WANTS to pay for software.

ATTENTION /. MODS: DO NOT MOD THIS COMMENT DOWN!!!
My message to you is about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and the way to end it.
I had not intended to speak to you about this issue, because, for us, this issue is already decided on: diamonds cut diamonds.
Praise be to God, our conditions are always improving and becoming better, while your conditions are to the contrary of this.
However, what prompted me to speak are the repeated fallacies of your President Bush in his comment on the outcome of the US opinion polls, which indicated that the overwhelming majority of you want the withdrawal of the forces from Iraq, but he objected to this desire and said that the withdrawal of troops would send a wrong message to the enemy.
Bush said: It is better to fight them on their ground than they fighting us on our ground.
In my response to these fallacies, I say: The war in Iraq is raging, and the operations in Afghanistan are on the rise in our favour, praise be to God.
The Pentagon figures indicate the rise in the number of your dead and wounded, let alone the huge material losses, and let alone the collapse of the morale of the soldiers there and the increase in the suicide cases among them.
So, just imagine the state of psychological breakdown that afflicts the soldier while collecting the remnants of his comrades' dead bodies after they hit mines, which torn them. Following such situation, the soldier becomes between two fires. If he refuses to go out of his military barracks for patrols, he will face the penalties of the Vietnam butcher, and if he goes out, he will face the danger of mines.
So, he is between two bitter situations, something which puts him under psychological pressure - fear, humiliation, and coercion. Moreover, his people are careless about him. So, he has no choice but to commit suicide.
What you hear about him and his suicide is a strong message to you, which he wrote with his blood and soul while pain and bitterness eat him up so that you would save what you can save from this hell. However, the solution is in your hand if you care about them.
The news of our brother mujahideen, however, is different from what is published by the Pentagon.
This news indicates that what is carried by the news media does not exceed what is actually taking place on the ground. What increases doubts on the information of the White House's administration is its targeting of the news media, which carry some facts about the real situation.
Documents have recently showed that the butcher of freedom in the world [US President Bush] had planned to bomb the head office of al-Jazeera Space Channel in the state of Qatar after he bombed its offices in Kabul and Baghdad, although despite its defects, it is [Al-Jazeera] one of your creations.
Jihad is continuing, praise be to God, despite all the repressive measures the US army and its agents take to the point where there is no significant difference between these crimes and those of Saddam.
These crimes include the raping of women and taking them hostage instead of their husbands. There is no power but in God.
The torturing of men has reached the point of using chemical acids and electric drills in their joints. If they become desperate with them, they put the drill on their heads until death.
If you like, read the humanitarian reports on the atrocities and crimes in the prisons of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo.
I say that despite all the barbaric methods, they have failed to ease resistance, and the number of mujahideen, praise be to God, is increasing.
In fact, reports indicate that the defeat and devastating failure of the ill-omened plan of the four - Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz - and the announcement of this defeat and working it out, is only a matter of time, which is to some extent linked to the awareness of the American people of the magnitude of this tragedy.
The wise ones know that Bush has no plan to achieve his alleged victory in Iraq. -
Not Compatible with Linux
I'm sure you'll all want to know that this device will NOT be compatible with Linux.
This is because the disk subsystem of Linux relies on some delay being present in between a piece of code triggering a write opearation and the write actually going to disk. This is why that whole sync() thing is required.
To combat this problem, Linux will have to be written from the ground up to take this into account. I think it'll take several years for support for these devices to make it into the kernel, and probably a few years after that for the bugs to get worked out.
If you would like to run this right now, though, I suggest you try Microsoft's line of products. They're much more stable and secure than Linux, and much less expensive. Feel free to read some information about these products here. -

Linux Geeks To Take Over World
Not if I can help it!
GET THE FACTS! -
I'll probably get modded as a troll for this...
Linux users and administrators need to learn two things:
1. That they are ILLEGALY using stolen code to run their businesses. This is just plain wrong and they need to be paying their license fees lest they get their asses sued by SCO.
2. That there are better and more cost effective solutions for running a business than using Linux.
GET THE FACTS! -
BULLSHIT!
Everyone knows that Linux costs are 5 to 20 percent higher than Windows costs, so the article's entire argument is utter bullshit.
Don't believe me? GET THE FACTS! and see for yourself. -
Suckers!
They would have saved even more money using windows. Pah! They need to Get the facts!

Re:Great marketing (post is not flamebait)
Whoever modded my post as Flamebait should observe the FAQ here
:
Flamebait refers to comments whose sole purpose is to insult and enrage. If someone is not-so-subtly picking a fight (racial insults are a dead giveaway), it's Flamebait.
My post was not flamebait. It certainly does appear that Microsoft has issued this 'discussion' right at a time where NT users are considering Windows or Linux , and it really doesn't take on any different stance than what Microsoft is promoting in its Get The Facts campaign.
From what I read, it's just purely Microsoft advertising. -
Great marketing
It ends with a great piece from Martin Taylor on how fantastic Windows Server 2003 is. Then it points to www.getthefacts.com
.
That's not really comparing Windows and Linux, it's issuing more FUD, and another attempt at pushing those NT users to 2003 rather than an alternative OS. -
Re:Let TCO wars begin..
They already have; if you go to getthefacts.com and if you fill out a form there, they'll Airborne Express a rather expensive-looking packet filled with facts about Windows and Linux, including:
- Linux was invented by Adolf Hitler in 1934.
- The name "Linux" comes from a Native American phrase meaning "Outrageous TCO Going Forward".
- Windows 2003 Server was first mentioned in the New Testament, to glowing reviews.
- Exposure to Linux makes one out of every fifteen people break out in itchy yellow-greenish sores.
- At night Linux servers often grow robot arms and robot legs, trash your office, and leave beer cans around.
...I didn't know half of this stuff!
