Re:Count me among them.
"However, there are just a few shows in our streaming library that are not included in the ad-free plan due to streaming rights. The good news is that episodes of the shows listed below will still stream uninterrupted -- there will just be a quick ad before and after each video. "
Also:
"If you subscribe to Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV, please note that you will still see ads during live streams, DVR recordings and the additional on-demand content that is offered directly by each network. " -

Sling Isn't the Only Option
Sling can add up, sure, but Hulu Live is in beta and looks to provide a better package.
And both Sling and Hulu offer
free trials so you can see whether it works out for you, and
no contracts, so you can start and quit whenever you want, and
no cable box rental fees - just use your PC, phone, or get a Roku-type for your TV.Cable TV still seems lousy to me.

Hulu has both a "limited" commercial version and a commercial free version.

Re:Apples to Oranges
Hulu offers commercial free for just a couple bucks more than Netflix. Good if you like current shows.

For Amazon, it's really fucking easy to turn off the mixed melange of content:
1. Go to Amazon homepage.
2. Click Departments->Amazon Video->Included with PrimeNOW YOU HAVE ACCESS TO ALL THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS WITHOUT FIGHTING THROUGH ANYTHING ELSE! Add shows to your watch list from here.
You can even select by movie or tv genre, and all the results are prime!

Re:God bless you, Pat Tillman, Jessica Lynch, etc.
What's amazing to me is when the government tries to pass policy "in the name of" victims who they use to create a propaganda framework for the policy... who then resist and speak up against the proposed policy...
The classic examples of bogus narratives for propaganda include Pat Tillman and his family as well as Jessica Lynch. The military tried to use both to help bolster support for the war. In both cases, there was resistance from the very people being "used" for that purpose, and it turns out that these people were more patriotic, strong, heroic, and complex than their "handlers" expected.
Can anyone think of other examples of this propaganda-backfires phenomenon?

Re:A couple comments...
Hulu says ad's allow them to provide their service at a lower price. Yet still refuses to offer ad free service at a premium.
That's not true anymore, they now offer an almost* commercial free experience for $11.99 vs the $7.99 subscription.
I canceled my Hulu account a while back sighting commercials as the reason.
I might try them again in a few months. Their show selection is not too compelling and I have plenty to watch on Netflix/HBO Now still.
* Exceptions:
Due to streaming rights, the shows below are not included in our No Commercials plan. You can still watch these shows interruption-free. They will play with a short commercial before and after each episode. The shows are:
- Grey's Anatomy
- Once Upon A Time
- Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
- Scandal
- New Girl
- Grimm and How To Get Away With Murder

Re:Flash?
Does anything but ads actually use Flash in this day and age? I haven't had it installed for several years!
Let's see... these are just some results using Firefox 41.0.1 on OS X Mavericks:
Spotify: "To enjoy Spotify, please install Adobe Flash. It's free."
Pandora: "In order to use Pandora internet radio, please upgrade to a more current browser or install a newer version of Flash (v.10 or later)."
Hulu: "Hulu requires Flash Player 11.0.1.152 or higher. Please download and install the latest version of Flash Player before continuing."
I'm sure there are plenty more, but just these three are enough to prove that you're dead wrong -- or just trolling. And no, there's no love lost between Flash and me, either.

Re:Both are bad but not comparable.
Honestly, I think that Nixon's stuff is worse. Spying on a journalist is bad - but not personal.
In addition, Nixon's crimes were both for his personal gain and hit democracy at it's heart - elections. Those make it incredibly evil crime.
The CBS reporter's incident, assuming it is entirely true, does not have these issues. There is no evidence that it was for any one's personal game, nor was it an attempt to circumnavigate political system.
As such, Nixon's crimes are far worse.
Yeah, right. Because Nixon politicized the IRS and set it against his enemies.
No, wait. He didn't. That was Obama.
Sorry, there's not much more fundamentally corrupt than politicizing the tax collector - that can and does take all your assets for no reason at all.
Is there anything Obama does that you wouldn't apologize for?
In the words of SNL's skewering of Obama's entire record of failure:
“Some people want to criticize the way our administration has handled this crisis, and it’s true we made a few mistakes early on. But I assure you, that was nowhere near as bad as how we handled the ISIS situation, our varied Secret Service mishaps, or the scandals of the IRS and the NSA,” he said. “And I don’t know if you guys remember, but the Obamacare website had some pretty serious problems too.”
He said that considering the rest of the second term, “this whole Ebola thing is probably one of my greatest accomplishments.”
To be fair, the IRS is supposed to go after tax cheats.

Re:When will it work in Seamonkey and Firefox
Things like Netflix don't need to run in a web browser at all. They just need to make full applications (or plugins in the case of XBMC and others) for all the platforms worth supporting.
Unfortunately, Hulu gave up on this ideal as of January 31st this year.

Re:so? americans always hate some company
Just to nitpick/be pedantic - Hulu Plus is not ad-free. I signed up for it back over the winter, and promptly canceled a few days into the free trial after seeing that the commercials were the same as watching OTA, if not worse.
And to make it even more bothersome, they couldn't be bothered to use a feed that just streamed the show with ads inserted after the fact, they more or less just straight rebroadcasted a station about 2 hours away and included their local ads.
I'm sure there's some sort of technical or monetary reason for that, but it annoyed the hell out of me.

Re:As a US-only service
No, he means exactly what he says. While there are Hulu apps for Roku and the Xbox 360, not all of the content is available to stream to those devices. It comes down to licensing but it is still very annoying. http://www.hulu.com/support/article/20116158

Re:Any Ideas?
At the moment there appears to be more growth in ads on Hulu Plus and other Ten-Foot-Interface content companies than on mobile in general. Statistically people are more likely to watch an entire ad on Hulu than any other non-streaming cable method, and their CPMs are something like 10 times that of web ads, and those are twice over more than mobile ads.
Mobile ads are mostly a bill of goods Google sells to advertisers, and users hacking around at the edges of that isn't very important -- ads on TV are orders of magnitude more valuable real estate.

Re:Wanna earn $200K+? Two words...
Money makes people really ugly and people who just lust after money above all else can never be trusted, believed, or act as my employer.
I think it's the opposite: money attracts "really ugly and people who just lust after money above all else can never be trusted,"
Self selecting population? Assholes like that are attracted to professions like that - a profession that theoretically should offer society a valuable service (efficient application of capital) that it really a parasitic, lying, entitled (their motto: "eat what you kill" - whatever) , fuck everyone because they can and therefore they have a right to.
Please watch Park Avenue on Hulu - PBS also hosts it but their servers suck - but go ahead and try it.

Can't wait
I actually just got through watching the original Cosmos series on Hulu. For 1980, it's a very entertaining show and accessible to normals. And anything that stands up against the tide of really awful, retarded television that has popped up in the last 10 years is good.
Reading some of the backstory, Seth McFarlane appears to be putting his money behind this as sort of an anti-Family Guy force, so hopefully it should be very good. Having it on Fox is also a good idea - there's probably more money being splashed around it, and it doesn't have the "stigma" of being on PBS.
Anything that sparks even the slightest interest in science is a good thing, even if it's wrapped up in an entertaining story. My man Carl said something like, "Everyone is born with natural curiosity. Most people get it stomped out of them early. A few manage to survive and become scientists."

Atlantis is a geologically absurd myth (or maybe a flying city), whereas linguists do agree that proto-Indo-European existed at some point. And the various efforts to pin down its origin seem to be pretty scientific, even if they do produce conflicting results.
