3D image here.I did what I said and extracted two consecutive frames from the SOHO images and 3d-ified them with red/cyan images (so you can use your 3D glasses from Spy Kids 3D or Shark Boy/Lava Girl or some other 3D DVD you have at home). The left eye is red, right eye cyan. Consecutive images were too flat, so this is from frame 170 and frame 172 of the animated gif. I dropped it down from false-color to black and white to make it easier to see.
What do you think?

. jpgSome of the features have evolved. But the sphere shape is there as are some of the more macro features such as the corona and flares. The granules don't match up though.
That's from about five minutes of work.

Re:Must every thread be used by you for proselytiz
But of course, it doesn't look so hot in KDE. That's using the Gorilla (Industrial engine) theme; you wouldn't want to see it in the gtk_qt_engine...

Re:Must every thread be used by you for proselytiz
I dunno, things look pretty natural and GNOMEy to me (Industrial engine)...

Re:advancements/innovation?
I think extension support is the single most significant feature of Firefox. Sure you can add functionality to IE but it's not as easy as packaging up some Javascript. This extensibility lets Firefox support new and unimagined features without adding bloat. It wouldn't surprise me if IE moves in this direction eventually just to stay competitive.

Re:Arrrg.
He's saying that the US media are showing only "wonderfull" -it's ironic- images and not saying what really append.
For information how CNN is very wrong, look :

and compare to

If you know Europe and/or France there is lot of mistake in this image ( all city are at wrong place, "toulouse" is in france, not in swiss...) -
Re:Exactly the problem
Know what? CNN is not mainstream media in France. Maybe just because they can't even place french main cities (including Paris) on a map. (By the way, I'm sure Google appreciate being mentionned on this map.)

I love my school...
I've got a fully stocked bar in my room, bar mats, shelf liners, full compliment of glassware and an underlit shelf for the bottles. This is part of the collage thats my photo on facebook. Several of my RAs are my facebook buddies.

Re:Attack the messenger (please)
Besides, the Bible can't be taken at literal value, specifically because so many things we know for fact contradict it. We even know that the tower of Babel still stands tall.

This is a few months old
This story is a few months old, at least back from June or July. There were even pictures, not mentioned in the article, one of which looked vaguely like multicolored magnetoscopic x-rays, although considering my expertise in the field and affinity for spotting pseudoscience and hoaxes, I'd say gravity was the last thing involved in those pictures.

Re:Who is Rick Maas?
Here is one peer review of said paper. If you ask me, though, the author has his head in the clouds.

Re:Why do you focus on just this kid
I think this diagram sums up my thoughts nicely. The chart clearly represents an ever-growing scale of disproportionately gifted humans, rising above the average person's potential.

Futuristic soapbox car
I did something like this once a few years ago with my father, before I graduated HS. We would rig up solar cells to the top of hood of the car and put in a crappy little motor that would locomote the soapbox... if nobody was in it, that is. Otherwise, it would get really hot in there.
Technically it wasn't a soapbox car, as we used orange crates. Here is an old picture circa 1982 of it having just spun out of control and into a drainage ditch :( -
Progressive disclosure (Re:My story.)
"Programmers [want] control over and visibility into every aspect of their computing environment... For me, going back to Windows, or even OS X, feels like slipping into a [straitjacket]."
Well, here's the problem. The Mac's philosophy towards configurability, and in fact the entire Apple experience, is intuitive for a certain kind of person. Artists, fashion mavens, leftists, and other creative personalities can sit down with a system offering a range of configuration options--everything from System Preferences, to XML property lists, to flat text files like crontab--and comprehend its sensitive, tasteful aesthetic. It's a rare instinct, this appreciation for beauty and truth; accountants and other such pencil-pushers haven't a prayer.
In summary, unattractive squares should stick to Linux and Windows. Progressive disclosure is for different thinkers.

Everyone knows that the Objektsynth "Deathstar" logo (created in 1996) was the first and best 3-D logo to ignore the constraints of the black and white print world. Of course I may be biased
