Sure. You can download big archives of offline content. In Visual Studio, go to Help -> Add and Remove Help Content. You get the window shown in this picture.

Re:Alternative?
"Were those installs hydroponics or vertical farms?"
Vertically stacked NFT *IS* hydroponics.
Vertical farms and hydroponics have two completely different meanings here in the US, sorry for the misunderstanding.
"What crops?"
Lettuce, fodder grasses, tomatoes, peppers, typical crops.
"What size instillation?"
1/8 acre building.
"What is their yield?"
Depends on the crop. On average we yield 1 acre worth in 1/8 of an acre growing fodder grasses for livestock.
That's all? All that effort and you can only do 8 times better than driving over a field a few times with a tractor towing various implements? (Yes it's a bit more complicated than that I know, but far simpler to what you've got going on.)
" What is the cost per bushel?"
Depends on the crop, oh and the rest of the world doesn't go by bushel, they tend to go by the kilogram.
So what? A lot of French people don't speak any English either. In the US we use bushels for quite a few things, Stay on topic.
Let's take fodder grass, since I'm already on that crop. Roughly $0.50 USD per kilogram. The grass is also grown using a special zero-light technology which the BBC has covered.
Thank you for admitting what I already knew, your high-tech hydroponics is several times more expensive than other more common livestock feeds. So it's no alternative, it's a supplement at best.
"What sort of pest control regimen do you use?"
Most of the buildings are sealed with clean room entrances (the original building in the UK does not have a clean room entrance as it was a prototype/POC building.) Pest control is never an issue. Fungal/mold control is, and we use UV-C LED lighting to treat that, along with ozone generators.
I know farm chemicals can be expensive, but I can't imagine how much all that costs. One screw-up and you'll be looking at total losses. It's bad enough in greenhouses when it happens.
"You'll know those numbers or ones close to it if you are who you say you are, which I don't believe you are."
Meanwhile, in the real world, I keep on designing and testing while you sit around in disbelief and ignorance.
You're the one that hung yourself here.
Nope, you've got that rope GOOOOOD and tight around your own throat there buddy. I never denied what you were saying COULD be built. My contention has always been that the schemes you seem so proud of are not economically viable vs far more conventional, which is what you asserted when replying to sideslash. I've met people who build those sorts of setups themselves, but they do it as a hobby for the challenge and readily admit that such methods of production are uneconomical. That and fresh local produce in Febuary.
On a Mars Colony that tech would be absolutely invaluable. Here on Earth it's an economic dead end unless a comet hits the planet and we all have to live in bunkers for the next 300 years. But as long as it's only private investors burning their money I have no issue with it. -

Your Thoughts and Use of Post Processing?
So I'm not too knowledgeable on photography but one thing I'm aware of is that professional photographers do a lot of post processing. To the point of Adobe Lightroom or higher being so mandatory with DSLRs that they sometimes package it with lenses (especially the ones that distort like a wide angle lens). Do you post process your photos? To what extent? How do you feel about people who use advanced techniques like even adding color to their photos? For example, I came across this photo which was odd to me because I've been to that place and it's beautiful but not like in that photo -- it doesn't need fake pink clouds to be beautiful. It would seem to me a shame to have a tree live 2,000 years and then a human uses a fish eye lens on its knotted trunk to make it seem more old and gnarled and then later adjusts the darkness of the sky to give it a Halloween feel, etc. And then since that's the most artistic shot of it, that's how we remember it.

Re:Not this shit again
Okey dokey! Let's go back into the past a little bit. A few months before this whole shitstorm started. I might be getting some of this wrong - I'm pulling it mostly out of memory and everyone stopped caring about ZQ a month ago.
a) A small internet forum (well, chan) exists. It has a few different boards, but most of the active users are people dealing with depression, and they keep to themselves.
b) Some posts appear on the site, attacking Quinn over her latest "game" (I'm using this term very loosely here), Depression Quest, which is about to enter Steam Greenlight and really needs some publicity. People on the site react to these attacks by telling the poster to get out, almost nobody joins the original poster. Nevertheless, Quinn makes a huge scene, talking about this forum and how the evil white men oppressed her, showing carefully cropped screenshots as "proof". This prompts her many, many followers to flood the place and turn it into a complete shitpile.
c) At the same time, gaming media are extremely quick to report on the issue, giving Depression Quest much needed attention and making it pass Greenlight - which is something this "game" (actually just a series of mostly static html pages with not even static pictures) had no chance of doing without this attention.Source (yeah, it's a bad quality image, but seems to cover everything nevertheless): http://imgur.com/a/4VOcx
And then there was the whole thing where Quinn found a feminist gaming charity event, destroyed it by tweeting absolute bullshit about it and getting her many followers to attack it, prompting some prominent sponsors to pull their funding, and then the next day started a similar charity of her own, and started raising money without ever specifying where, when or how the event would happen.
The best part was that after learning about this, the evil oppressive white men raised tens of thousands of dollars for this charity, more than it was actually asking for, and saved it. You can find about that too, search for "The Fine Young Capitalists". And again, this happened months before the whole "GamerGate" thing did. ZQ is a goddamn sociopath - but as I said, this was a long time ago, and while she tried desperately to stay in the spotlight, nobody really cares about her anymore.

Re:Trolled by Soulskill
So what you're saying is you're a racist misogynist who doesn't believe women and minorities can have a different opinion than you without being tricked or stupid? Also I didn't say a majority were women, I said they were disproportionately women as opposed to the almost universally rich white male demographics they're opposing.
By the way do you have any idea how you look saying it's photoshop when people are holding handwritten signs saying "#gamergate #notyourshield"? You should know that you're echoing a campaign of racially targeted harassment against blacks and other minorities supporting gamergate.
And yknow for someone who cares so much about people "spouting hate" you sure do seem to have a double standard considering you're supporting the side that started screaming racial slurs like "house ni**" at women and minorities, got a black man fired for daring to speak out against white journalists, and have escalated well beyond death threats in phonecalls, emails, and text messages into the realm of mailing people syringes, knives, and dead animals.

Re:You REALLY want to go down that road?
Actually there isn't evidence for the "gamergate is harassment" narrative. There IS evidence of the GNAA and other outside trolls going to the lengths of paying up to $20 for people to tweet while pretending to be part of gamergate, there IS evidence of the gamergate harassment patrol going to the lengths of tracking down the person behind much of Anita's harassment and even filing reports on him with the FBI, there ARE multiple statistical analyses empirically proving gamergate is NOT about harassment...
But there is absolutely no evidence for the conspiracy theory that tens of thousands of men, women, LGBT, and minority gamers from all over the world have banded together dedicated to the cause of driving women out of gaming by raising over $100,000 for charity... including $70,000 for feminists to get women INTO game development.
There is however a fuckton of evidence that a toxic clique of people with incestuous financial and personal ties are pushing a narrative defending themselves while rallying around someone multiple feminists have pointed out is blatantly a gaslighting domestic abuser.
Just like there's a fuckton of evidence for their vicous abusive behavior up to and including, like I said, a whole ton of doxings:
Because it's completely impossible to find out about serious criminal attacks like people getting sent dead animals without following each and every single person individually. Gotcha. If only there were websites where people talked about things that happened, all in one place.
Or even a website that lets you look for things elsewhere on the internet...

Re:Wouldn't It Be Funny If...
Holy shit this guy is clearly on the ball and has been following it closely. I definitely fell (or was pushed?) into one of those camps, due to the vehement whinging, whining, ranting, raving, accusations, shaming and what have you from camp #3 I kind of felt pushed into camp #4 with a bit of camp #2.
To make it clear, I'm not specifically 'pro' gamergate- but I am one of the people who was initially quite taken aback by the swath of remarks and insults coming in the general way of gamers or people who aren't extremely left.
It seemed when this whole thing went down originally, to EVEN ASK QUESTIONS, even politely (!) regarding the circumstances of it all, meant you were suddenly labelled a misogynist piece of.... by a whole plethora of well,.. frankly, extreme, white knight, SJW types. There's either "with us" or "sexist piece of garbage"
I found that (and still do) extremely frustrating, confronting and annoying. I wouldn't say I'm against rights of anyone at all â" but I do believe the politically correct / SJW movement has gone to a point where anything you do, you feel as if you're doing something wrong, or being a terrible person. This relentless shouting down of people, has some (many?) on the defensive, I honestly feel this is a primary factor in why GG lasted so long and why the "pro-GG" kept on with it, not necessarily as initiators of attacks but infact feeling the need to defend themselves of accusations of being ghastly people.
To add fuel to the fire, the terribly worded, clickbait garbage article by Leigh Alexander "gamers are dead" and the hashtag it spurned "#describeagamerin4words" being a relentless barrage of horrible insults "manbaby" comments and what have you from again, the SJW types, it's no wonder a whole huge heap of people who identify as gamers (as do I) got on the defensive and effectively "joined gamergate" in camp #4 (with boogie) as they felt opressed. Once on the defensive and identifying with gamergate in some way, bam, you're again, being labelled as garbage and further comments come at you, hence this huge separation.
I've taken to unfollowing good friends / muting good friends on twitter and even blocking some people on twitter because of this relentless onslaught of anti-gg rhetoric. It's ridiculous. Also, the vast vast majority of the gamergate discussion now appears to be mostly now coming primarily from the anti-GG'ers shouting from the rooftops, spamming twitter, spamming articles and endlessly raving how bad GG is, yet to me it seems the majority of it has fizzled out from the 'pro' side.
As I've said candidly, I think I'm just sick of being preached to, good message or not, it's relentless, annoying and constantly shouting it will achieve nothing, my twitter feed has become a nightmare of endless womens rights tweets (which is not a bad thing, IN MODERATION) but people in camp #3, many -have become total zealots, incapable of having a day go by without ridiculing sexism in general, yeah sexism is bad, but fuck me gently, spamming about it daily ain't gonna solve it.
I attempted to comment on a GG news article recently, outlining how the article was not only one sided but managed to say (as usual!) there's only 2 camps (unlike your far more logical analysis of the people involved in this)
The article effectively said it consisted of the scummy manbaby people and "those in the right". Of course my post on the article was rejected. Which is just further censorship along the "with us, or mysoginist garbage and against us" attitude, it's incredibly tiring.
http://i.imgur.com/mSxhW9e.pngThank you for seeing there are more than 2 damn sides to this entire thing. Honestly based on the tweets I read, civil conversations I had (with women in the pro camp!) I am not in any way convinced the vast majority of GG was abusing people, I think it was a tiny fraction of people to be honest. Furthermore, while not condoning abuse here, but people with their "back up" on both sides, becom

Re:It Remains a Journalism Scandal. Deal With It.
When by "source" one refers to any number of articles that have published the word "GamerGate" beside the word "harassment"... citing instances of harassment that never even pretended to come from GamerGate... and when these sources completely omit mountains of evidence of corruption and collaboration in media whilst never provide a whit of actual evidence.... One would be wise to question them.
Here is a timeline of GamerGate. It includes most, but not all, of the grievances the diverse GamerGate community has.
Here is a discussion of an email list wherein journalists colluded to spread a particular narrative. Some say it's "a few out of context emails". Those people are misinformed.
Here is a discussion of the journalist who was fired for being too noisy.
Here is a discussion of hidden conflict of interest. Here is another.
Here is an upload from an indy developer discussing press collusion.
Here is evidence of inappropriate promotion of Quinn's game.
I have more. GOD do I have more. You may have noticed conspicuously lacking from my post the following words: sjw, feminist, woman, female. That's because contrary to every major media piece ever written on GamerGate, it has not one fucking thing to do with feminism. Or harassment. or threats.
So ask yourself why someone interested in writing an article about GamerGate would completely ignore all of this and focus on the 1% of tweets about Wu, or on threats that never pretended to support GamerGate. Or on a very few very marginally related trolls. Hell, ask yourself why they would report only on threats against one side.
For my two cents people supporting GamerGate have a damn good reason to mistrust the media. So does anyone not supporting GamerGate. -

Have a good look at the limitations section on Wikipedia:
"...that the lidar technology cannot spot potholes or humans, such as a police officer, signaling the car to stop."We already have technology that can handle potholes to some extent: Semi-active suspension management.
It has been slowly trickling down from high end and commercial automobiles. There's two basic ways the systems work.
1. Magnetic shock fluid whose viscosity can be changed with a magnetic field
2. Actively adjusted shock valvingWith the right accelerometers, both systems allow for detection of potholes (actually the detection of rapid drops) and can almost instantly increase the shock dampening to prevent your wheel from dropping deep into the pothole.
There's also active suspension management, which either involves actively generating hydraulic pressure for a piston or using a linear motor. These are far less common because of the extra weight and complexity required, but they can literally pull a wheel up and out of a pothole.

Re:Can we stop trying to come up with a reason?
You are intentionally being an idiot (I hope it's not natural). A "know-it-all" is not a manly thing, it's annoying. And dickish. And puts people off. Most know-it-alls don't in fact know it all.
Not a manly thing? They literally call that policy "Operation Eliminate the Macho Effect". And by the way, italics indicate sarcasm.
So am I the idiot, or are they? (I suspect the largest idiot is a third party.)
Stop pretending it's a gendered issue.

The before and after pics
250GB EVO running for a year now, i never noticed slowdows using it as my daily SO drive. I guess its because the frequently accessed files aren't affected by this bug, i would have to run a complete drive read test to find out.
I did a test with a tool in one of the links and got the same results as other people.

See how the graph goes down as age of files increases.
After running the tool to update the firmware and "optimize" the drive the graph is very different.

Now i have to check again in a couple of months. I could run a full defrag and get the same result since all files would've been moved. -

Re:all
I get between 4 and 5 days (which includes ~4-5 hours of total use) per charge on my 3 years old iPhone 4S, with 3G enabled. If I play and surf a lot more the time obviously drop; if I don't do much more than handle calls on it a charge gets me one week.
I took this screenshot yesterday for an "Android friend" who refused to believe any smartphone would reach into a 2nd day on a charge: http://i.imgur.com/YxZjboT.jpg -

Re: I don't follow
I'm not quite sure your advice works (I'll check it later) -- I think I've gone through all the options at least once and did not get a result much better than this screenshot:
http://i.imgur.com/H8WmcQC.pngThe w's on the help window look pretty bad. Many UI elements still have coloured text. Not quite sure what's wrong.
(Here's a 2x blow-up that imgur decided to convert to jpeg so it's probably not good quality: http://i.imgur.com/yKL91gO.jpg )
At least the server-grade Windowses (2003, 2008) have those silly visual 'enhancements' turned off system-wide by default.

Not allowed to use Mac
When I installed Yosemite the EULA said
Note: It didn't say just say "use of this software", it said "Use of your Mac computer". It's effectively claiming if I don't follow the terms I'm not allowed to use the hardware period

Re:To quote TBBT
Whoa there, have you actually seen any good Aquaman related material? I mean, besides some campy old cartoon from decades ago? Bulletproof, super strength, super speed, the standard suite of DC powers, along with some magical abilities, ruler of a kingdom, master of the seas...and yeah, command of marine life.
If you don't know much about Aquaman I suggest reading over this or this to understand. Aquaman kicks ass. The common kneejerk 'Aquaman sucks' thing is not accurate.

Good call. From the URL that looks like an ad-wrapper around imgur, so tried punching the same ID into imgur itself, and voila!.

Broken WebGL
Sadly on a particular computer all WebGL looks like this, even though OpenGL works in other apps.

Maybe running the proprietary graphics driver would make it work, but it has or had just one particular little bug meaning graphics card or monitor would have to be changed. Well, no. The graphics card is only 8 year old but with lots of gigaflops and few watts, and monitor only 10 year old.

Re:Of course!
"No matter how many billions you spend, you're not going to make a Chevette go faster than the speed of light."
You're comparing something that most would say is theoretically impossible, to something that most agree is theoretically possible and has already been achieved on a very small scale(LLNL ignition, of course not at the efficiency tipping point yet).
"The problems are technical"
The problems facing a mission to the moon were also technical, but with extraordinary funding they were able to fast track it by dividing up all the technical problems they faced and tackling them individually.Fusion has many technical problems that could be tackled independently in parallel. See "When will fusion power my house (or vehicle)?" in the previously linked article. It covers this pretty extensively.
"You can't point at funding as a problem for fusion."
I can and did. The facts provided in the link are pretty compelling."..can't point at funding.... The problems are
... economic."
You contradicted yourself."No amount of money will fix that."
You've never heard of this thing called "employment". You have a technical problem, you use money to employ experts in the field that you are having that problem, and they come up with a solution. If that solution requires labor and materials to implement, you then employ some more people. No or little amount of funding means little meaningful progress. You have some independent researchers working here and there to produce some papers and try to get published, but at some point you've got to coordinate activities and get appropriate amount of effort applied to each technical problem in an organized way:
