I find his 'uncollecting' activity to be far more fascinating than any information concerning another Sim City or any developments thereof.
Brings to mind ObeyGiant's take on phenomenology. This scould certainly prove to be a fun project along the lines of GeoHunting. -

Re:Similiar Flyers
Five years? They have been floating around since around 1995. A fellow named Shepard Fairey started it amongst some skateboarders and it took hold. Now, he refers to it as "an experiment in Phenomenology

In some cities, the standard "Toynbee tile" is accompanied by smaller adjacent tiles that express sentiments such as:
Submit. Obey.
Could this be an attempt to link into the Obey phenomenon? Sure, the tiles started in the 80's, but perhaps a new breed of social engineers are trying to plug us into the idea of examining our surroundings?
Or maybe some folks think that graffetti doesn't have to be a bad spray job that says "dave love's jessica" or "metallica rules!" -
Re:Trek, Blogging and Envy
Then again, I suspect the trolls are simply driven by a wracking, crushing feeling of sexual inadequacy.
I don't know who's modding this insightful; it's one of the oldest discussion group cop-outs.
For those who are honestly wondering why people troll, so I'll offer a little help: culture jamming.
A non-slasdot example. -
Color.
Most rooms have the same color scheme. Some shade of dove gray, off white, cream, eggshell, tope, tan, ad nauseum. Use real colors. A dark red, An electric blue, just something that isn't based on white. It'll give you a break from a day of being surrounded by the same flat color. Also, try incandescent lighting. Flourescent lights make me (figurativly) sick after a while.
A trip to the local Goodwill / Salvation Army / Value Village / College property disposition warehouse could yeild you a few cool decorative lamps, tables, perhaps a nice retro desk? (As I am typing this I can hear tyler durden saying "you are not your stuff")
Oh, and some Obey/Giant Propaganda would look nice on the walls. Might I suggest the Chuck D / Flava Flav combo? -
Likely explanation...
I believe that much of the website design for Mozilla.org is/was done by Shepard Fairey, of Obey Giant fame. He has a fondness for early 20th century Soviet propaganda styles that suffuses much of his work.
Also, there is a "revolutionary" quality to much of the Mozilla work, which the red star also harkens to.

Re:No offense but these were some boring questions
My personal favorite is "Wil's Got A Posse!". I just smile, because it makes me realize that he's just a dude like you and me, who's excited that people like him for what he is and what he's doing now, rather than how they knew him as a child actor. I guess I'm part of the posse, I visit the site about once a week to catch up on what's new in Wil's life
:)
Umm..sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think that artwork has really anything to do with Wil liking the fact that he has a posse, see this link. Hell, he's even got a link to obeygiant.com on his site.
Having lived in RI during the early 90's, in the peak of the Andre the Giant stickers (freakin' everywhere), I can tell you Wil's late on that train.

Not so fast
While I would agree that music will cease to exist in its current form, that does not mean the industry will go the way of the book.
The main reason is that music itself is exciting. Reading a book takes at least a several hour time investment, most of which is time spent alone. Music on the other hand takes just a few minutes to enjoy and is best when shared with hundreds or thousands of other people at the same moment.
Screaming, jumping, dancing... sound waves travelling through thousands of people simulatenously... sorry, but you can't reproduce that with a book.
For anyone interested, Shepard Fairey, the kick ass artist who designed the Mozilla logo has written on his site about this very topic.
Over time, CD sales may decline, but people will still want to share music with their friends. Concert sales will increase as people are exposed to a wider variety of music via better distribution channels. Personal music will take shape with the creation of high quality online services like FullAudio. But, to say that music will ever become anything like the book industry is totally off base. -
Re:Microsoft is bad for the economy
Now they won't sell Front Page to the porn industry?
Damn. Now I'm gonna have to use Powerpoint to create my anti-Microsoft, KKK fetish, pr0n site.
It's gotten so bad that Ron Jeremy even broke down and learned how to use emacs to write HTML
and JavaScript. :) -
Obey the Giant!
The logo reflects the fact that Shephard Fairey, who masterminds the Obey the Giant (nee Andre the Giant) campaign is also the person who designed the Mozilla site. He clearly has a fascination with Soviet imagery and iconography, as his wonderful series of Giant posters demonstrates. Also see BLKMRKT the agency he works for, for more examples of his work.
