In June, we released SCO OpenServer 6, which was a multi-year, multi-million dollar development effort that resulted in a product that goes beyond simply leveling the playing field with Linux. Based on the feedback from our strategic partners, customers, resellers, engineers, and many others, I believe SCO OpenServer 6 outshines Linux on a number of fronts:
Sorry, Darl. Things like large file support, additional processor support, and many other "advances" in OpenSewer 6 are things that Linux has had for a while now.
...Hilary Rosen manages to piss everyone off with her remarkable cluelessness. What's her next act? OS X doesn't crash as much as Windoze, so God[0] Steve Jobs should put something in Macs so they crash as often as Windoze out of fairness for the consumer?

it is a 'better investment' to execute the creators of worms, virus and trojan authors, than murderers.
You could execute the creators of worms, virus and trojans, but their code will still be floating around on the net waiting for another person to pick up where they've left off. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Ahhh, I see that you've had Canada's psuedo version of Foster's lager. When I returned to the US after living in the UK for while, I acquired some Foster's from the store and found that it not only tasted completely different than what I had in the UK & Austrailia, but it came packaged with a *wicked* hangover. I took a look at the can and noticed that it was indeed imported: from Canada and trying to pass itself off as Australian.
Thanks to the new E.U. standards, there will be no more email. Frankly, we at $company can't be bothered to keep up with their standards much less justify the expense. Please go back to inter-office memos, fax, & snailmail.
:)
But seriously, does the E.U. really have to impose itself on businesses this badly?
What the man said! I love my 95 Cherokee. With over 97,000 miles on it, I've had only one problem that I couldn't solve by myself (and a Hayes manual).
Sure, it's not very flashy (actually, I think it has "bling-bling" repellent), but it will run through anything la.us roads will throw at it. There's nothing like passing a stalled BMW or Lexus when the roads flood.:)
Unfortunately, Jeep no longer makes those classic Cherokees.;( All that's left in the SUV market are glorified mini-vans with slightly raised suspension masquerading as sports vehicles. <sigh>

Looks like if Microsoft looses this case a fine of $1.5B would be imposed....THIS is the case Microsoft should be worried about, not the one from EU. Or do they think they can get away with this lawsuit?
I'm sure Microsoft will do what they often do when they get fined: Dole out software and licenses to schools and such then write it off at full market value against their fine.
Pull the license for something they can't easily do without, like Apache or ksh, and you might have something.
I'd suggest 'ifconfig'. I admined a SCO 2.1.3 box last year and their version of 'ifconfig' didn't bring up the MAC address of the NIC. Take away a few simple tools from SCO and it'll be too painful to admin.
Since a lot of spammers rely on open relays, maybe it's about time a few honeypots are set up with open relays that send all port 25 activity to/dev/null, sends the spammers fake ACKs, and log who's trying to send the spam.

Enough with the politics, okay?
I think it'd be interesting if Randall and Dante somehow ended up in IT doing hell-desk or Systems Administration. Just picture Randall, the BOFH.
Randall: This job would be great if it wasn't for the fscking (l)users.
Randall: I'm firm believer in a ruling class, especially since I have root.
Randall: (yelling at retreating luser) You're not allowed on my network here anymore.
I wonder... If I stop paying my "subscription", will a van will stop by and repo my hardware?

I asked for the time in France in broken French and was spit on. It doesn't get any clearer than that.

Q: What do the French & a billiard ball have in common?
A: The harder you hit them, the more 'English' you get out of them.
Perhaps we can have someone from Mississippi talk about how GNU/Linux is being used in those parts.
:)
A few years back, I attended a conference where a guy from baton-rouge.la.us discussed (I'm not making this up) GUN/Linux and the GUN-GPL license.
He was pretty embarrased when someone corrected him after his 30-minute talk.

Fast food for thought:
By the same token, a company could/should be able to sue a user dumb enough to download a screensaver virus, etc.

Did the characters ever managed to play Sex&Dungeons&Dragons or did I miss that issue entirely?
I wasn't aware of a Sex&Dungeons&Dragons, but I do remember rolling 2-d-6 for penis size when creating characters.

have you tried applying for jobs lately? more and more companies require a drug test.
Relax. They're just making sure you have enough drugs in your system to do programming or systems administration.

I'd give you an "Insiteful" if I had mod points. :)
A musicians rights group in France is suing Apple Computer for back royalties due from iPod sales.
:)
Yeah, but who would pirate French music?
Hats off to Fyodor for getting the ball rolling.

Or Fyodor could've put on his BOFH hat and made a b0rken port of Nmap for SCO.

That Microsoft took iTunes so lightly is a mystery.
In the same way that Microsoft took the internet lightly. Coming to a Theatre near you: Microsoft inbeds its music service in Windows $version.

Seriously, we must expose who is doing the spamming. Once people are out in the open, they may be less willing to send spam.
But we already know who the big spammers are.
Meanwhile, some lucky person in al.us has 1-256-512-1024. :)
