Another ne-erdowell immitating APK LOL
Did you know, that Jeremy Reimer (of you OSY site there @ pegasus3d.com no less) admitted to impersonating me on his website? Right here:
http://www.windowsitpro.com/articles/index.cfm?art icleid=41095&cpage=124 [windowsitpro.com]
--------------
"Anyway the "APK" registered here is just an affectionate clone of the original. In fact I prefer him to the original." - Jeremy Reimer - March 25, 2005
--------------
That's right. See for yourself there, it's plain-jane quotes of his own words (my favorite tactic along with facts)...
Sad!
Read on, that part about him ONLY gets better as we go... This is so others can consider the source & all that... it's arstechnica/osy hilarity, @ its finest! I posted that earlier here anyhow, your ADD mental problems must have prohibited you from recalling it, right?
Well there tis again for your reference!
Plus, all that, in ADDition to his ISP busting him for email harassing me as well... he's touched! Remind YOU of anyone, hehe?
It's ALL there on that page url above anyways.
E.G. -> Some weird stuff, almost as bad as your 'secret admirer' internet weirdo psycho stalker profile you keep of ME on YOUR site... that's creepy stuff man, honestly! I hope you realize that... this from YOUR site, about me:
http://paperlined.org/apps/slashdot/anonymous_APK [paperlined.org] [paperlined.org]
lol! Flaky stuff imo, & as I noted above? Way, way off about me on many accounts!
Some of which like saying I have narcissistic something or other, and you admitting your fruity in the brain with ADD? Hell, that's funny man, it TRULY is!
Jeremy Reimer also wrote childish libellous songs about me, & more too (like edited photos etc.)... & the strange part, the really weird part??
The guy's 33 years of age - the "sheer maturity" of Arstechnica/OSY forums people, lol, eh?
Like I said, it's up there @ that URL!
Ah, anyhow:
Oh & Yea - My job's just fine. I like it! Forensics stuff, & data security etc. in nature MOSTLY...
PLUS, There is no "making up lawyers" in my world, not @ all. I keep one on retainer in fact, it's worth it just in case etc. & for GOOD reasons!
(This is because I enter into contracts & early on a decade or so ago? Well, I got burned once pretty bad, being told I would get one wage, & then being paid, lol (got suckered) minimum wage one time because my headhunter burnt me, I never signed off a contract with him (written one, all verbal)).
Shit like that, lol, (I can laugh about it now, my bad, it was 10 years back now)? Teaches you lessons!
I do have work though, pretty cool job (not coding as much as I would like to be doing) but more "forensics" in nature, & for a HUGE financial firm (which shall remain nameless, I don't give out that kind of info., not until job is done/thru etc. @ least).
:)* Risk mgt./Anonymity & all that... unlike your posting your personal weirdness about me here (which is WAY off base stuff... flaky actually, but coming from you, after I know now you do have mental issues & probably are on somekind of meds (are you?)) here in my P.S. below & the other paperlined.org url about me above... lol, Well, man... I dunno about you! Again - "Dr. Arkham Asylum" would be a GOOD nickname/handle for you imo, lol!
(Especially with YOUR trying to 'diagnose me' medically on your page url up there on your site, lol... that's CERTAINLY rich! Pot calling the kettle black? Oh, lol, hell yea, absolutely!)
I would like to see your PhD in Psychiatry &/or Psychology first though, might lend credence to your bottom-line @ that URL above about me on your site, lol!
*
:)(And, again - if you don't like what I write? Heck, again - ADD & all on your end, so I have to repeat it so it becomes a routine you
-
No degree MichaelK?? Or should I say Interiot?
OK, here goes, you're no longer going to get the "mentally challenged treatment kid gloves" from me, anymore.
"you think it's proper to call me Sir? that is very telling."by MichaelKristopeit409 (2018828) on Tuesday January 10, @07:14PM
So is my penis, ok? LOL, Whatever... I hope THAT is not another of your shortcomings, in being homosexual, because that's ALL I need right now, some nutjob who has THAT problem... & being gay? It's FAR from normal, no questions asked!
Above all: What you write, especially coming from YOU?
That IS TRULY hilarious!
I mean - dude, you're a nutjob (admitted one in interiot no less who knows he's not right in the head)!
One doing the judging of others who aren't 'touched' as he is? Especially about something HE PERSONALLY has issues with due to his "delicate mental condition", no less??
That's rich! OMG...
With YOU being the one having the problems mentally, and apparently ashamed of it, simply because of me posting evidences of your starting things with me here, FIRST?
(Care to deny that? Answer that question...)
No "I have ADD (b.s. crap imo) & did not see it" type avoidance of it either, ok?
Answer THAT question -> Did you, or did you not, startup with me here??
Also - I suppose YOU have elected yourself as "the spokesman for SLASHDOT" & are now 'president of the standards bureau for posting' & how to structure grammar & spelling, here, right???
New news everyone:
'Heck, must be MichaelK is KING of slashdot'
( How I should write/post, man... got 1 thing to say to you, OK mental boy?? Again - drink in & digest this:
You don't like what I write here? Don't read it! (Simple, but apparently NOT for a mentally challenged nutcase like you!)
So, instead of CONTINUALLY hassling me, nutjob? Get a life!
That is what the MAIN point is, here - you're NOT right in the head, you admit it, and then put up b.s. about me (keeping your weirdo profile of me on your site no less, that's sick freak)?
Then, lol, hilariously trying to 'diagnose me' here:
http://paperlined.org/apps/slashdot/anonymous_APK. html
With some condition, & it turns up YOU are the one 'touched in the skull' (with a hammer most likely)??
OMG, the "pot calling the kettle black" shit, ROTFLMAO!
Yes, now there is NO doubt of it - You have mental issues...
You DEFINITELY are not "normal". LOL, I love the "10% of boys have ADD" bullcrap - the 'misery loves company' I am part of the 'team' & 'jump on the bandwagon' shit... Especially after I tried to be understanding of it? You had this coming.
SO, that's it: The "kid gloves" with you? They're just dead-up off!
You mistake my being nice, trying to understand I was dealing with a mentally challenged person in you, for weakness. Newsflash BOY - it's not, & that is done now. You truly are one F-d up human being - a miserable one, that likes to try to bring THAT problem of your being a human wreck, onto others. THAT's in addition to obviously being somekind of a genetic error - a mental aberration.
Hey again - Don't LIKE that?
Then, take my advice - quit hassling me & reading my postings here if you don't like them... right??
Point-blank:
You're being f'd up brain doesn't allow you to concentrate longer than 5 seconds to write a posting, or read one that is longer than 2 sentences fully apparently! OR, allow you to remember promises & statements you make also, like saying you'd cut the crap with me, here:
http://it.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=157615&thre shold=1&commentsort=0&tid=95&mode=thread&pid=13224 172#13225084
I mean, lol, WHY ELSE THEN, DID YOU STARTUP WITH ME ( -

Re:Gender expression?
Yup, from the way they phrased it, it almost sounds like you can't identify as cisgender, which is awfully odd.
It just reinforces the fact that most companies have no idea what "gender identity" means, even when it's part of their equal opportunity employment statement. (hint: sex, gender, and orientation are completely different things)

Re:You're Right, Of Course
So a dedicated scraper would change IPs, write some code to detect and avoid the potholes, and then resume scraping.
There are lots of decent ways to detect scrapers or hotlinkers. But I haven't seen any idea yet from either side (web admins, or scrapers/hotlinkers) that can't be bypassed with enough work. It really seems like it's something of an arms race.
But the arms race hasn't progressed very far, even for attractive targets with some amount of money (porn sites), because it's just a lot of work for both sides.

Not Glad About Sovereign UnaccountabilityNo, I'm not glad that the tyrannical doctrine of Soverign Immunity is at all dignified, validated, or upheld as a basis for law:
Sovereign immunity, or crown immunity, is a type of immunity that in common law jurisdictions traces its origins from early English law. Generally speaking it is the doctrine that the sovereign or state cannot commit a legal wrong and is immune from civil suit or criminal prosecution; hence the saying, the king (or queen) can do no wrong.
Or, like Richard Nixon said as an excuse for his tyrannies:When the president does it, it's not illegal.
I bet that kind of defense will become increasingly popular as the current president and his regime gradually lose the secrecy of their many crimes they've spent so much time and energy (and our money) to maintain.
So no, I'm not glad that some tiny copyright rule is dead, leaving intact the rest of the ridiculous regime of artificial government monopolies on imaginary property. Since it comes at the cost of treating the state as an unlimited tyranny, not as composed of laws creating limited powers subservient and accountable to the people. -
Re:Burst vs Sustained Speed
Long before that happens though, customers will collect their own information and post it online.
If there was a program that kept track of when you max out your upstream or downstream, and tried to characterize what might be triggering any throttling, that'd be very useful information to post online.
Then, if you could set up a DOCSIS sniffer and collect similar data from everyone in your neighborhood, you'd have heaps of useful data.

Re:Well, duh. I could have told you that
I'm not sure I see that BluRay/HD-DVD will obviously fail to be profitable in the short-medium term, when current HDTV owners are shelling out $1000-3000 for their TVs...
HDTV prices are dropping 20% anually.
25% of TV's sold in 2004 were HDTV's... I can't find the other figures at the moment, but a the % of new purchases that are HDTV is increasing every year by a decent amount, something like 5% more every year. And if that trend continues without changing, then just back-of-the-napkin calculations, yeah, it's 15 years for full-scale HDTV adoption. (it's hard to say whether % yearly purchses will continue to increase at the same rate... you might argue thay'll hit a ceiling unless HDTV prices can dip below $600... I might argue that adoption rates could greatly increase if the price gets low enough (eg. a lot of people suddenly bought a DVD player the year that name-brand players started selling under $99).

Re:Encryption won't work anyhow
Let's shed some light on you interiot, just for everyone reading's reference:
---------
From this url which is interiots website and about himself:
http://www.paperlined.org/bio/fucked_up.html
"sort of like autism (antisocial, high IQ, some sensory sensitivities), though not nearly as severe as autism
doesn't like to look eye-to-eye with others
doesn't like to touch others
preoccupation with things
need a certain level of stimulation to function properly (though not nearly as bad as autism)
not any relatives to autism, except for sensory integration dysfunction or autistic spectrum
Visuospatial thinking preferred
These autistic traits may be beneficial for some disciplines like science, mathematics, engineering
though not these:
Poor use and understanding of nonverbal communication (i.e., facial expressions and body language) [as far as I can tell... I'm not very bad at these]
Poor understanding of abstract thought, metaphors, and symbolism
Peculiar clothing and food preferences
aspbergers
mild level of pedantic language... more anal than others, and like humor more than others, but not outside of normal
orderly things have appeal [oh hell yes]
INTP (introvert, intuition, thinking, perceiving) [oh hell yes]
high-functioning autism
intelligent, gifted, hard workers when interested in a task, though they can be extreme procrastinators when not, and excellent problem solvers
they may appear somewhat removed or disconnected at times, especially in situations of sensory overload, or extreme perceived social pressure such as a party
look into these more:
Pervasive developmental disorder"
---------
From what I have read in your postings history here, it appears first of all that You can't read like a normal human according to your website data on paperlined.org.
That is because you are mentally challenged/retarded due to dyslexia which you are afflicted with.
With that said, how can anyone trust you and your information to be accurate in your statements online much less at work on a job if they cannot read to get accurate information?
Give up already as far as trying to come off like somekind of authority in this field because you have lost the race before you can even start - You cannot even read correctly to gain information.
For instance, with someone like you? I could give you a Unix tech manual and you'd probably tell me it was a romance novel, hehe. -
Re:Fanless hardware not worth it
I second the cable-extender thing... though it's actually cheaper to go with Cat5 for extending most things. You might need shielded cable for VGA/DVI/USB (stuff with a bitrate >100MHz), but PS/2 and audio and IR can definitely go a long long way over the cheaper Cat5.

Re:IRC has its merits REPLY... apk
What exactly am I wrong about here? Please, tell me! Before you do that? Well, let's take a look @ YOUR b.s. you constantly have directed my way here... OK?
First of all - The fact you startup crap with me constantly & also got yourself beaten up pretty badly in trying it as well!
http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=162012&cid=135 79749
You did there from the get-go with myself, & on a post I was modded upwards for no less!
About me being wrong, in regards to yourself especially? LOL, well, I KNOW NOT! You started up with me, others even noted it & got on your case about it, & I simply finished you off!
(As per usual, & not hard to do - you just don't have the "cranial CPU power" to engage me in debate, period).
OR How about the evidence YOU provided myself & others with about your having mental problems in "ADD" & what-not? Heck, you said it, not I, & proved it for us your brain doesn't work right - it's just dead-up wired wrong!
(& believe me, judging by your behaviours online? It shows!)
"Oh noes, you got me again, I am so ashamed and embarassed. ADD, it's such a terrible curse upon me." - by interiot (50685) on Thursday November 03, @02:10PM
Well, if it is NOT such a "terrible curse"? Then again I ask you: WHY DID YOU REMOVE THE PAGE ABOUT IT ON YOUR WEBSITE??
(No, I was not on EITHER account - you've got issues man, & your own words made that plain as day/clearcut! Again, it's VERY funny how you removed them from your own website about your "delicate mental condition"!)
Is this quotation of your own words below about yourself? It is now, isn't it??
See below, I snagged it from your "paperlined.org" site online before you pulled it:
http://www.paperlined.org/bio/fucked_up.html

P.S.=> Above all - if you have to start your childish & immature "polls" about me (which nobody gives a damn about, or will go to your pitiful puny website for)?
Gee, that is one HELL of a childish reaction to my simply posting your own words... I guess it didn't get to you, but WHY REMOVE THE PAGE FROM YOUR WEBSITE ABOUT IT & then ontop of it, be shown to constantly start shit with me??
Prove I'm wrong, on any of the accounts above, ok? Good Luck, you'll need it - you don't have the intelligence or facts to take me on boy & you NEVER will! -
Re:IRC has its merits REPLY... apkOh noes, you got me again, I am so ashamed and embarassed. ADD, it's such a terrible curse upon me.
Oh well, if you change your mind at any time, you can call that number and leave a message.
And one of the defining traits about you is that you never ever admit you're wrong, no matter what. Just like everything else, I'm sure it's not something you're aware of, but it's true nonetheless. I'm sure others will agree (vote here or here).

QUESTION (that I would like an answer to):
Why did you take that page down from your website & it's material I quoted above? apk -
Re:That's so frustrating!Define "serious".
:)Don't you have problems with SD OTA/television/cable content on a 65" TV too? If so, isn't it better to have a proper scaler either in your TV, or as an external box right before your TV? (FWIW, that price is better than what was previously available at the top-end)

Ha, Interiot you're admittedly afflicted mentally with add, so listen up real well and concentrate.
You have 26 foes you list of them and I could be any one of those people. The problem with making enemies is the fact you have made so many enemies. That's your own doing.
I am just one that has been waiting for you to screw up some more and lay the smack down on you. You provided me that opportunity with this one.

With that condition (lack of attention span) You are trying to tell us about eula agreements is a laugh and a half. You don't have enough attention span to read one of them through fully.
I found that url and what it contained about you with your own words stating it because I have followed your postings and spotted this one about you where you started up a fight with this guy and got yourself into a jam via your own words.
You're the last person who ought to be talking about eula's, you can't hold your trains of thought long enough to read one, let alone comment on them. -

I hope you realize that... this from YOUR site, about me:
http://paperlined.org/apps/slashdot/anonymous_APK [paperlined.org]
@ least). :)
* Risk mgt./Anonymity & all that... unlike your posting your personal weirdness about me here (which is WAY off base stuff... flaky actually, but coming from you, after I know now you do have mental issues & probably are on somekind of meds (are you?)) here in my P.S. below & the other paperlined.org url about me above... lol, Well, man...
* :)
(And, again - if you don't like what I write? Heck, again - ADD & all on your end, so I have to repea -
Re:Name 1 person you asked? Simple not who you exp
LOL, no I don't "live with my parents" & haven't in ages, dude.
E.G. -> My mail is centralized to my father's home addresses, for good reason - it saves money & I don't own a home!
In fact, I travel all over the U.S.A. quite regularly, & I like it - it's like a paid vacation really!
(This makes sense rather than buying P.O. Boxes etc., Dollar$ & cent$ in fact, believe me, try it out yourself one day especially if you LIKE travel!).
I do, & I move A LOT, & have for years!
Work is why.
This makes as I said above?? Big time dollars & cents... lol, man, you don't contract for a living do you??? If you did, you might understand - you move quite a lot!
IN fact, in the last 3-10 years? Just to give you examples?? I've lived & worked in:
Mobile Alabama, Savannah Georgia, A brief tour/stint in Jacksonville Fla. (short job), Columbus Ohio, Buffalo NY (short job for a bank on Check21, consultation VB vs. Delphi), Dale Indiana (this was VERY beautiful imo), Long Island NY (Massapequa, &/or Syosset for most of 2003) & BEFORE that? Atlanta Ga. for many years (1995-1999 (nearly 2000))
It's been fun. Where to next? Not sure, wherever job market takes me! It's never too long between tasks, although 2002 scared me JUST a wee-bit!
Anyhow:
The point's not to put up facts about you, as you mention... I only make sure mine are accurate! They come from YOUR mouth & YOUR behavior in fact... like I said earlier:
I let YOU do YOU in... you defeat yourself.
Now, also: Why would I BOTHER spending on a 'background check' on you?
Heck boy - You did that yourself for me with all I needed to see with your own words, cited again in my P.S. below is all...
Bottom-line is, you are not right in the head man. Just a fact. One you gave me.
You put them up in your BIO section, I only saw them there after looking @ the lunacy you posted about ME on your page here:
http://paperlined.org/apps/slashdot/anonymous_APK
lol! Flaky stuff imo, & as I noted above? Way, way off about me on many accounts... some of which like saying I have narcissistic something or other, and you admitting your fruity in the brain with ADD?
Hell, that's funny man, it TRULY is!
"Dr. Arham Asylum" ought to be your nick here, lol, NOT "interiot"!
I mean, lol, your attempting to "diagnose me" is droll after all, you're the one with the mental hassles...
Also, again - care to show me your PhD in psychiatry &/or psychology?
Also, since you don't like my writing here & startup shit with me over it... how about that PhD in English too??
LOL! Hey, again: Instead of picking on my writing style, and commanding me or trying to on how to write (which the mods here often mod up etc. for interesting or informative)? DON'T LIKE WHAT I WRITE?? DON'T READ IT!
After all - The VERY FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF you put up on YOUR site no less?
WELL, as I noted & you removed now from your website, that proved to me, you (oddly enough) have the mental problems. Why pull the page down I wonder?
In your case, judging also by your behavior here, trying to tell me how to write etc.?
Pretty bad ones imo, because they're mental in nature man!
I can see why you think you can tell others how to write, you make massive mistakes for one, & cannot hold a train of thought properly... after all, from the descriptions of your symptoms?
I can see that happening! I tend to make longer postings, & according to YOU? They are "Too Long"...
Funny though: They often, when I post & don't get caught up with a nut like you attacking me here? Seem to get modded up quite a bit for "interesting & informative" rather than MERE "karma points" as you get.
Oh well... nuts abound!

P.S.=> I just use your own words against you is all... you do yourself in, right here: -
Re:Name 1 person you asked? Simple not who you expOh really? Ever consider that others feel the same??
You live with your parent(s). That's useful information for others to know.
I don't know if THAT's the truth, or not, OR how you could do THAT without my authorization... but I don't appreciate that either.
Of course it's the truth. I have no need to spin an increasingly bizarre alternate versions of reality. On this page, click on "view details", and you can see the various kinds of reports that anyone can buy. For the criminal background check, I ordered from someone else because they were cheaper.
I don't live with my parents, nor do I have any criminal background, so there's no need for you to spend money on that (though I do have two major vehicle accidents [1] [2]). My address isn't too hard to figure out, since I have various domains registered.
You're free to put any info about me up on your website, I suppose. But most people don't care about me. On the other hand, I have quite a few people stopping by my APK page, mostly by way of various Google searches.
In terms of your pot/kettle/black comment, yes, I agree that we're somewhat alike. As I said, that's most of the reason that I'm still talking to you and haven't grown completely bored yet.

That you yourself actually spent money, & ran a "background check" on me???

After all, the ADD stuff I mentioned:
Fact is - You're DEFINITELY mentally addled, this much you admitted to (albeit begrudgingly so, & then removed the page where you yourself in your BIO prove you have mental difficulties):

ROTLMAO! Yup... sorry, but it is VERY funny!
You wrote it & posted it up (then, removed it).
I know that in order to gain my current job however? I had to pass thru one of those, since I work for a financial organization in a position of responsibility (forensics job). That?
I am laughing about, hugely, once more... thanks for that laugh!
In fact, I had to get some folks fired on this job already... felt BAD about it @ first, but... they (like you) brought it on themselves - they were thieves, and breeding discord (finger-pointing started, etc.)

OK, here goes, you're no longer going to get the "mentally challenged treatment kid gloves" from me, anymore.
"Your posts are hugely abnormally longer than anyone else's." - by interiot on Sunday September 25
'Heck, must be INTERIOT is KING of slashdot'

If you don't like my posts? Man, simple - don't read them man! Can you not understand that??
Apparently not, if you write things like this to me & about me:
http://paperlined.org/apps/slashdot/anonymous_APK. html
Are you sick in the head? What is this weirdo stalker profile of me you are keeping there on your site??
I think you've been diagnosed with FAR MORE than just ADD before... probably some obsessive-compulsive mental disorder as well since you apparently try to libel & stalk me... that's sick man, it really is.
And, lol, you're attempting to 'diagnose me' with some mental disease which we already know here YOU have in "ADD" (b.s.) which you admitted to here no less & took the page down out of shame (or said you were going to)?
That's a HUGE laugh...
However, we already KNOW you have mental problems. That guess of mine would probably be NO surprise to anyone.
(and then when I got the better of you regarding Opera in the URL below etc.? Where in the end, I simply asked you to find a test as I used that showed Opera knocking BOTH IE & FireFox the heck out & in more areas than both of them in said test... you could not produce such a test that showed differing results than the one I used!)
"Okay, so do you agree that I have much more experience posting here?" - by interiot (50685) on Saturday September 24, @06:08PM
http://it.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=157615&cid= 13216924
Especially after reading THAT here? No, I don't agree about THAT @ all. You're only like 1/3rd into this field by comparison to myself..
See, what YOU fail to realize by trying to impose YOUR standards on others?
Most people don't bother others regarding their posting style here (or on things like grammar/spellchecking etc. as you do... they can draw someone's meaning of their words via the context wherein they are used is why - you can't, you're mentally deficient (literally & admittedly so)).
If you're sick in the head this way, & you admitted it no less? Please, don't try to impose your views on others. You have the problem, not anyone else.
(AND, it truly IS you with the problem, because you have ADD, literally & admittedly so).
Also, I note You get modded up +, lol, for "Karma Points" etc., again, this does not impress me one iota...
They're USELESS imo. They're simply an inducement to post here as a specific ID, making YOU trackeable as hell...
I don't need or want that.
All I wish to gain here is knowledge & to share mine in return for what I get here. That's all, simple.
"Karma Points", sheesh... they're not being modded up for technical interest or otherwise pertinent information.
Plus, I wonder... I really do specifically in THIS field (computer science), I truly wonder which of us knows more than the other regarding it & has more experience in it... the URL in my P.S. proves that for me in & of itself.
I think the post URL's I put up already evidence this for me here, & in earlier url's I posted in this exchange between yourself & myself, & rather easily.
(Also, about using forums & like items (like technical chats even) around it? Oh, I wonder who's been @ that longer as well?? To me, this isn't what counts really however as it does for you, but how much what you write helps others really!)
So... once again, I ask you again, can you chill out or what?? You said you would, & then started RIGHT up again!
What's wrong with you??? Oh, that's right: I know already - You have ADD & think everyone should cater to YOUR ideas of writing... b.s.!
(Sorry to burst your bubble, but do YOU speak for ALL of slashdot?)

I see from it, that you DO have problems & consider yourself mentally troubled... aspbergers, or autism on your end it seems.
Seems I was correct - you have mental problems & issues as I suspected!

Re:Let them keep itThe new 2005 telecom law is 72.4% magical. It's still in committee, but the whole concept that "Broadband Video" (loosely defined) should be regulated in a manner remotely similar to current cable operators [1] is a slightly absurd on its face.
I think that most people in government don't fully realize how dramatically different digital networked things are from what they're used to legislating about.

Re:Bingo! But unintended effect.this does not preclude a BITS provider from taking reasonable measures to protect the security and integrity of its network and broadband Internet transmission services; or prevent theft of BITS or other unlawful conduct
Okay, that doesn't strictly say that they can block port 25, but my bet is that if anybody decided to press the issue, a judge would rule that way

Re:It's FridayWow. So VoIP is declared to be interstate commerce, and subject ONLY to federal laws, and it's subject to the following requirements: number portability, interconnection, 911 services, possibly universal service, TTY relay.
And yet, it doesn't seem like they clarify the definition of "VoIP service" in the LEAST bit to clarify whether they in fact intend to include things like NetMeeting conferences, open source authors of SIP software, etc etc. Hopefully that's clarified soon rather than later.
The same comments generally apply to "Video Services" (it's federal-only interstate commerce, blah blah), though they do define it slightly more narrowly:
The term ''video programming package'' means the offering of a package of multiple programs generally considered to be comparable to programs provided by a television broadcast station.
Though that's not really terribly much of a clarification.
I have a feeling they don't know what they're getting into.

Re:It's FridayFor what it's worth, I've reformated the draft text here to make it easier to digest.
One thing to note, does this imply that ANYONE who writes VoIP software has to register with their state before allowing anyone to use it? (see section 202 and the definition of VoIP Service and VoIP provider)

Living at home. With his 70-year old mother. Don't keep replying to him though, you're just feeding the trolls. One of his other threads went on for OVER THIRTEEN MONTHS. The man is insane.

Re:Self-Destruct? Not likelyAhh, the virtual machine wars begin.
Intel and AMD CPUs shipping this year are going to support easy virtualization. Those hardware companies are pouring money into VM software, and that VM software is free, so anyone and everyone will be able to run VMMs on their stock machines. One way to limit some of the damage of viruses/spyware is to make it a habit to run with multiple VMs. Even grandmothers should do this. (on top of security, VMs have a wide range of other benefits that make them hard to sideline)
On the other hand, DRM is becoming more popular. MS will have its Next-Generation Secure Computing Base that will try to have sections of memory that are very secure and protected. Grandmothers are going to want to play their DVD's inside a VM, and play her secure
.WMA files, and...Multiplayer games are often hacked, and hacks can ruin a multiplayer game. Microsoft's new NGSCB promises to have a secure authenticated path from the USB hub to the software. Hackers come out with things like fishing bots that multiplayer game authors would really like to prevent. Normal players would like to play hack-free games, within a VM.
Is there an inevitable train wreck here?

Since the linked article seems to no more information that what the summary says, here's another link that discusses virtualization+kernel a little more. It looks like it's the Xen work that's going into the kernel (the project that IBM and AMD and others have been putting money and developers into to get working).

Re:Good Interiot: REPLY TO YOU ON EDUCATIONMe? I graduated 5 years ago, bachelor's in CS, and have worked at a Fortune 100 company since then. My favorite languages are Perl and javascript, but things like Postscript/Forth, Tcl, Lisp, and make influence me a lot. VB 3 & 4 were definitely standouts.
I can be cool to you, but my perception is that the discussion goes downhill quickly if anything is said that you don't agree with (eg. the Memory-Optimization Hoax thread that seems like it will continue to go on until one of you two don't have the physical strength to type any more). But I'll give technical conversation a try anyway.
Regarding your comments about ActiveX vs XUL, I don't think that XUL is going to create many holes. Javascript is heavily sandboxed, and ActiveX is not. There are a few ways to easily create holes in those sandboxes, and that's what's accidentally happened with Greasemonkey. But I don't think that it will be a common occurance for accidental holes to be created, because there are only a handful of ways to create such holes.

Re:Good Interiot: Arstechnica coward
Yes, it is OVER, now isn't it? LOL, it seems that my last reply shut you up pretty handily, simply by:
A.) Using your OWN words (saying you wanted to add me to your "foes list" because of my writing style: GROW UP! The resort of the lame used by you in grammar/spellchecks)
B.) Your own "skimming" & making assumptions about my role in this field, and being WAY wrong.
http://it.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=157615&cid= 13216924
Oh, by the way Interiot - Do you have a PhD in English Writing or a related field?
NO??
(Didn't think so!):
After all: If you cannot grasp the meaning of someone's words via the context in which they are utilized, or merely grasp the technical detail?
Either don't read it, learn more about it, or just admit you may have somekind of problem like ADD, or dyslexia...
(That's nothing to be ashamed of and can be overcome!)
* :)
(Arstechnica/Interiot - Once more, You're only embarassing yourselves, via your own words & motivations regarding myself, via your OWN words in the URL I cite above.)
Funny, how you ran away pretty fast after that URL above I cited...

P.S.=> TOO easy! Especially "nailing it right on the head" you are just another 'arstechnican' trying me again, lol:
http://paperlined.org/apps/slashdot/anonymous_APK. html
Isn't that what you cited? Again - TOO easy! You make me look good. Thank-YOU!
All the edited arstechnica private playpen links you put up?
They're not here & the ones here can't be altered by you.
Here is what counts.
Not your edited/altered postings over @ arstechnica whom are known as, well, less than credible (see below) in this field worldwide.
And, anyone is free to see that I have not been to arstechnica since 2001, but searching "APK" there after that time? You turn up 5,000 or so posts about me... thanks for the flattery. You're only showing people I got to you.
LOL, you arstechnica people try me time & again online only to lose as per usual on technical issues it is not even FUNNY for me anymore, I actually pity you.
Above all - You don't know how good it is to have people of your IQ (or lack thereof) to tear apart...
I NEVER start with you, but the results showed who finished what here... Soooo, "C-YA"!
Hey Interiot? Instead of running?? Do something constructive:
WELL, How about disproving what I asked you arstechnica 'great technical people' to disprove here (for a year almost no less & you failed to) instead, @ the top of this page?
http://www.windowsitpro.com/articles/index.cfm?art icleid=41095&cpage=176
Everyone, you have to excuse the 'geek angst' of the arstechnica children like interiot here, lol...
This describes their 'tactics' for everyone & it's not even my OWN estimations of them:
http://www.storageforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t= 2608
Take a read of that? And know where "interiot" is coming from - arstechnica, who have tried this for years against me online, failing as usual... just like @ the WindowsITPro forums URL above.
Again, Ah... just TOO EASY!... apk -

Re:HDTV.July 1 will make it illegal to MANUFACTURE, but they can still be sold (on Ebay for a sky-high price, for instance).
Also, starting July 1, companies are accountable to the FCC to make their software+hardware difficult to be "defeated or circumvented merely by an ordinary user using generally-available tools or equipment
... [including] specialized electronic tools or software tools that are widely available at a reasonable price". Before July 1, companies have no incentive to do this, and while they may release upgrades that add Broadcast Flag functionality to pre-July-1 hardware, they're not required to do this, and aren't required to make it difficult to continue using older code. -
Re:They just need to follow ./'s lead
You know what happens then? The same thing they do when you hamper your RSS feed in any other way, they scrape your HTML and create their own feeds. Slashdot doesn't monitor their front page as closely as they do their rss page, so you can get away with quite a bit of abuse, at least for a while. They've blacklisted my IP ocassionally when I got overzealous though.
