Re:Blasted popup
Well then again, I am running AdBlock, and Tabbrowser Preferences. In Tabbrowser Preferences I have it set to make all popups into tabs. However this time Firefox popped up that bar saying it blocked a popup. With AdBlock, I am running the latest filters from this site. I'm also messing around with the experimental AdBlockLearner which also seems to have some success. I'm using FlashBlock to take care of any pesky Flash-based ads. Hope that helps! -Ares

Re:Firefox needs better OS X support
In the meantime, you could use TabBrowser Preferences to do what you want. I use it for OSX, Linux, and Win32 to keep everything in tabs in one window.

Re:But can it be used to...
Yes they can, just install this extension.

Re:what does this mean?
There are actually a few new features from the PR release, most notably a new Options section (Options > Advanced) for tabbed browsing, which seems to have come from including the TabBrowser Preferences extension into the base. Oh, and of course, that means the TabBrowser Preferences doesn't work anymore

You should be looking here.

Re:Wait...
No one has mentioned Tabbrowser Preferences, which is a lot more versatile than Single Window and adds a number of other useful features, such as per-tab locking, background/foreground control over several tab functions, and UI for configuring many of the hidden preferences already available in Firefox.

Re:Tabbrowser extensions
Or, if you prefer a more minimalist approach, you can use either Tabbrowser Preferences or TBP Lite.

Re:so what is the point..
You wouldn't by any chance know the md5 or sha1 on that file, would you? The bittorrent hash listed in the submittal doesn't match up with my file.

Re:SVG Support
It's still optional - builds are available, but no release builds yet. If you're on linux, have a look here and to find out more I suggest the firefox forum on mozillazine.

If you need speed, use Firebird
That's the goal. You can even download processor optimized versions of both
.7 final and the latest nightlies if you want to try for a bit more speed. -
nilson's Anniversary Mozilla Firebird Edition
nilson built Mozilla Firebird from today (September 1, 2003) and christened it the MozillaZine anniversary edition.
Check it out.
Note: this is a nightly, and happens to have some noticable bugs. -

Jesus does it kill people to use google before they make a list of demands? Xft builds for various systems here

Re:Building from source
The reason I wanted to build from source is that I wanted nifty anti aliased fonts
If that's all you want, why compile it when there are people who do it for you. The Slackware packages are very much like the official tarballs.
