Hey Halo 3 Online is a free download. https://www.reddit.com/r/HaloO.... I don't have a joystick so I'll probably do something else.

Yep, this Reddit thread and a previous one linked therein breaks down the parts needed. Building a robust and capable receiver for around $120 is within reach even without a soldering iron. We've come a long way, baby!

Your point?
You of course can't forget either the number of SJW's who either openly support, or opine support for ISIS either.

Funny, how this bullshit is still being parroted around a year and a half later. Also funny how nobody has heard of it, but the media just can't seem to stop talking about it too. A week doesn't go by where the media isn't either inserting gamergate into something, or saying that they're dead again this week. Funny how one of the main hubs(KiA) is one of the 100 busiest subreddits by size> . Or that when subs like

The first thing you do is start screaming about how they're actually a guy, or that when proven wrong your only answer is "internalized misogyny, racism, sexism", or some other-ism, because it doesn't fit your view of the world. Or start screaming that minorities are "house-niggers, uncle toms, or native informants."

Re:"Social Justice" prevents good journalism.
You realize how much bullshit your spewing? Hell, the guy that got this ball rolling was hit with a SLAPP for not bowing down. The law firm that's representing her over a 10 minute hearing where he wasn't allowed to speak in his own defense is one of the top 4 law firms in the US. In his defense though, he's now got major 1st amendment scholars working on his case.
Funny enough, neither the ACLU or EFF wanted anything to do with the case.
One also can't forget that the women in question filed a false DMCA claim against MundaneMatt over her video game that he reviewed, which is the reason why it started. And then exploded when the gaming press thought it would be a really, really, really good idea to attack their audience. By launching 15+ stories all on the same day about how "gamers are dead, gamers are no longer your audience." Tell me something, what would happen if a Linux mag/site, a car hobby site/mag, or golfing mag/site, suddenly came out and said "programmers/gearheads are over, they don't have to be your audience." Then spent the entire article saying how you're all sexists.
If anything, 5-8 years from now in marketing classes Gamergate will end up going down as the "thing you don't do, to maintain your audience."

Re: Fueled by recent change to Twitters TOS
I saw what you did there.
While your average SJW isn't running around trying to kill someone, they are threatening, doxing, harassing and trying to get people fired from their job because they don't like what you say. Fun thing though, ISIS and SJW's in general use the same blockbot... You of course can't forget either the number of SJW's who either openly support, or opine support for ISIS either.

Having heard what either side had to say, I don't know who's right in a sense of what's better, but the XT guys are much more professional and level-headed about pitching their arguments.
Heck, even your post itself is a prime example of it. You keep repeating words like "shilling" and "spamming" over and over, in contexts that make them clear personal attacks on your opponents.

Niche Journalism is better done by reddit now.
I have been following the Syrian Civil War and reading http://reddit.com/r/syriancivi... is about the best there is. It's got a lot better content than anything they write in the New York Times or any other mainstream news. It's basically the perfect news feed: Lots of different opinions from all sides. Occasional analysis, minute by minute updates, etc. I can't imagine how a newspaper could do a better job.

Re:Hosts files do a better job for less
For Forbes you'll need a cookie editor. I tested it with uBlock origin, but I suspect it will work fine with hosts solutions, including APK's. The two weaknesses of APK's host engines are: a hosts solution currently has reasonably easy workarounds if an advertiser wants to fight (and they do- advertisers are just like spammers, and they deleted usenet and almost ruined email), and I'm pretty sure the Host Engine is not multiplatform.
I could be wrong about the second one, and the first one isn't *really* a weakness compared to today's reasonably simple adblockers. Other complaints, such as search depth being a problem, are somewhat valid, but are also subject to being fixed at the OS level.
Anyway, if someone using the host engine wants to test the cookie fix (I found it on https://www.reddit.com/r/Adblo... and put the cookie values later in this thread), that would probably be useful for the other users of that.
-
The solution is cookie editing
Reddit has a solution that is reasonably easy to google:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Adblo...These instructions are for Chrome. The only thing you need (besides an adlbocker!) is a cookie editor that can import JSON. For Chrome, EditThisCookie works.
Here's the cookies:
[ { "domain": ".forbes.com", "hostOnly": false, "httpOnly": false, "name": "dailyWelcomeCookie", "path": "/", "secure": false, "session": false, "storeId": "0", "value": "true", "id": 3 }, { "domain": ".forbes.com", "hostOnly": false, "httpOnly": false, "name": "welcomeAd", "path": "/", "secure": false, "session": true, "storeId": "0", "value": "true", "id": 9 } ]
I tested this with Chrome and uBlock Origin. I'm willing to bet it works with adblock (based on the URL) and likely hosts based solutions as well.
For Firefox, you just need to be able to edit the cookies with either the above string or a similar one. I couldn't (in about 2 minutes) find the interface for Edit Cookies+, but if you can find it, it should work. When Forbes dicks around with their shit again in a month, to reduce functionality further, rest assured that there will be this as a solution, or a tamper/grease/violent monkey script, or whatever. They'll never win. But they will gladly load up the machines of any less technical users with malware, just as often as they can, given that the law seems to allow it. Somehow.

So recommendations?
I was thinking of getting a couple of boards with my Christmas excess. I was going to post here but decided to askl in redit.

Basically the usage. One a email server, and used occasionally for watching videos.
The other for experimentation/learning OSs. LFS, anyone got Haiku running on any of these? BSD. Learning ARM programming.
Also when I need to do secure computing switch out with a special SD card which I take pains to make sure is clean. So recommendations?

Re:Nice!
if you cant post your "dissenting opinion" without "threatening people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability or disease", then you have some issues you need to work on.
Ok, lets talk about what they claim, and how this will go down in reality. Because Twitter has a really bad track record of saying one thing and enforcing another.
For example. There is a delightful young transwoman named Sarah Nyberg who has been harassing gamers on twitter for months now. (But that's ok, because harassing neuroatypical white males is socially acceptable. Especially if they're overweight and straight, too.)
Sarah Nyberg is a pedophile. She openly admits this. She also openly admits that she took photos of her 8 year old niece in her underwear and shared them online. She openly admits that doing so gave her an erection.
She admits all of this, but that it was ok because some people were rude to her and that's somehow worse.
TALKING about this, due to Sarah Nyberg being part of the SJW clique, results in you being mass-reported by a botnet and your account auto-locked by Twitter's algorithms until you delete the "harassing" posts.
The people doing this openly brag about doing this. Twitter does not care.
Twitter can post all the fluff pieces about how this is going to combat trolls and harassers they want. People who have been the victim of this passive agressive "crybullying" know that the authoritarian nutjobs involved claim any disagreement with their socio-political views is "harassment" or "Cyberviolence" and that Twitter apparently agrees with them.

Re:Not Bitcoin Core Developers
To avoid any confusion it should be clear that these are the developers of btcd not bitcoin core. As far as I know the only bitcoin core developer working on an altcoin is gavin andresen.
This is exactly the kind of manipulative nonsense that has been infuriating developers and driving them away from Bitcoin.
"phantomcircuit" is Patrick Strateman, an employee of a company called Blockstream. Blockstream employs many of the developers who work on Bitcoin Core, which is the de-facto standard node implementation, descended from the original code written by Satoshi. When Satoshi left, he handed the project on to a guy named Gavin Andresen.
Gavin later handed on the project again to another guy, and under that guys non-existent leadership (he rarely if ever even posts to his own developer mailing list) the project started making decisions that upset many people, most notably, they decided that the block chain should retain a hard-coded limit on block sizes that was originally put in as a temporary hack, with the result that the block chain is currently full - Bitcoin cannot process any more transactions/second than it presently does and payments have started to break as a result.
So Gavin and myself created a fork of Core called XT to give people and miners the option that Bitcoin Core had decided to refuse them. It is exactly the same software as Core, but with extra patches that cause it to cast a vote for raising the limit. If 75% of blocks vote for the increase, then blocks can get bigger after that point.
Unfortunately, Blockstream and Bitcoin Core developers do not believe the user community should have a choice. So they decided to claim that Bitcoin XT is "not bitcoin" or put another way, any source fork that they disagree with "isn't bitcoin", even if it uses the same block chain, sends the same coins, speaks the same protocol and from the users perspective is indistinguishable from Core. They have decided that more or less any bullshit is acceptable in order to bring about what they want - a project that is theoretically open source, but which cannot actually be forked. These tactics include DDoS attacks on any computer that runs XT and extensive censorship of community forums and websites.
The comment I'm replying to is a classic example of this kind of BS in action. Strateman says he wants to "avoid confusion" and then immediately claims Gavin isn't working on Bitcoin anymore, even though in fact Gavin has only ever worked on Bitcoin and has never worked on an alt coin.
When the Decred guys talk about "governance issues", that's a polite way of saying that people like phantomcircuit and his employers have gone crazy and can't be trusted anymore.

Slashdot Forgot the Censorship and YRO Icons
Why didn't the earlier story about internet freedom make any mention of this Twitter banfest, Slashdot? Why was there never a
/. story about Vice (where the internet freedom story came from) itself hypocritically silencing the masses by wiping out its own comments section, ensuring that only themselves and approved plebians will have a voice on their site?
Why was there never a /. story about the ridiculous UN Women/Broadband propaganda report that tried to promote the idea of "cyber-violence" (an awkardly obvious pretense to a desired government crackdown) which proved so embarassing that they had to pull it from public view (and no /. story when that happened either).
It's abundantly clear that there's an activist arm of the tech news media (which Slashdot, sadly, clearly wants to be part of) that isn't anti-censorship or anti-bullying at all, as long as they get to be (or choose) the approved bullies and censors. -
For Example: Vice's Own Comment Sections
https://www.reddit.com/r/Kotak...
Vice are Grade-A hypocrites, perfectly happy to support internet censorship as long as they get to be the censors. -
Crocodile Tears for Internet Freedom from Vioe
There's a third evil force (which I'm sure government and corporations are overjoyed about) pushing as hard as they can for censorship:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
A huge activist arm of the tech news media has, especially over the last year and a half, been to happy portay criticism and disagreement as "harassment" and "threats" as an excuse to censor and stifle discussion of the "wrong" opinions, especially about politics or lapses in their own journalistic ethics.
Motherboard Vice (the site linked in the summary) itself hypocritically silenced the masses by wiping out its own comments section, ensuring only themselves and approved plebians will have a voice on their site. Mad about too many readers fact-checking your insulting, baseless, click-bait articles? Problem solved. And now they have the gall to bemoan a loss of internet freedom? How come we didn't get a story posted about that, Slashdot? -

Jar-Jar the Sith
Everything else is a mere annoyance, even Jar Jar Binks.
Jar-Jar was a competent Force user, very likely Sith by the end of the trilogy.
https://www.reddit.com/r/StarW...Quick summary: Drunken Fist martial arts, highly successful even when the odds are against him, waves his hand before people agree with him, so low-keyed that people under-estimate him (so no one pays too much attention, letting him be out of the spotlight).
At the start of the trilogy? He's helping the good guys.
By the end? He's working with Palpatine.Every aspect of the pacing puts him as the foil to Luke or Yoda from the original trilogy. He's just not looking for attention.

Re:A good start
Shooting tracker is provided by a openly biased anti 2ndA sub-reddit, not a factual news source. Their list also does not meet the FBI criteria for "mass shootings".
Consider the following:
"As for the Washington Post’s citing the 350+ mass-shooting statistic, it’s pure unadulterated nonsense. Stephen Gutowski of the Washington Free Beacon reported that only 21 of the 355 shootings on this sub-Reddit thread met the standards for the FBI classification of a mass shooting. Second, some of the incidents on the list aren’t even shootings, as indicated by Mediaite’s Alex Griswold. Here’s one that he found:A pair of township boys are accused of shooting four others with a pellet gun, police said.
Nobody was seriously hurt by the 11- and 12-year-old boys who shot the pellet gun at them on April 25 in the Twinbrook Village apartment complex, Detective Lt. Kevin Faller said in a statement.Of course, many publications omitted the fact that they’re citing Reddit."
source: http://hotair.com/archives/201...11 and 12 year-olds with a pellet gun is a "mass shooting" ?!?
Continuously re-posting grossly inaccurate information does not make it fact. Even politifact agrees: http://www.politifact.com/trut...
Until that time most of the rest of us will continue to point out how you ARE the problem, not part of the solution.
Illiberal quoting of bad data to claim wrong-think while providing non-factual data, snark remarks, and moral superiority name calling as a rebuttal is the actual problem.

Re:Millennials/Hipsters are the problem.
5 insightful? So you must have proof that hipsters and millenials are running the show at Mozilla?
Certiously, someone so insightful should have pretty good citations.
I'll even wait until you get those goddamned kids off your lawn for the cites.
You only need to look at the policy changes and the internal pushes that have been taking place at Mozilla itself including statements by their current CEO and others. That includes stuff by people who work at Mozilla trying to force their views on people at other OSS projects. Or haven't you noticed the shrill amount of whining by hipsters and millennials over terms like "master, slave, suicide"(as an example) in various FOSS projects, and how they want to remove them. Never mind that it would break backwards compatibility, it's all about the perceived hurt feelings. And that those people who contribute nothing, are directly impacting projects.

Re:Mozilla got paid to include Pocket in Firefox?

Why is this one in the news?
So everyone is talking about San Bernardino CA. Here is a twist: Did you know this was the 2nd mass shooting in the U.S. for today?
Not kidding. Earlier today in Savannah GA was another mass shooting. Another twist: This is not unusual!
On many days in the U.S., there is more than 1 mass shooting. U.S. mass shootings (meaning 4 or more people shot in an event or related events) are a daily occurrence. Starting today, we'd have to go back to November 10 to find three consecutive days without a mass shooting.
As a Canadian looking at the news flowing across the border, this boggles my mind.

Had no idea. Wow!
"Eric Raymond? I can only read his stuff out of occasional morbid curiosity. He is an awful, awful person.
I read a Usenet post somewhere from the early 90s from comp.lang.c where someone was trying to get their head around something and came to the conclusion that Dennis Ritchie had made a mistake. Raymond lit the guy up like he'd just smeared shit all over the altar at church for having the temerity to tell Dennis Ritchie that he was wrong. Then Ritchie himself chimed in... to admit he was wrong.
He's also an HIV/AIDS denier, global warming denier, homophobe, racist (in that oh-so-serious Bell Curve kind of way), extremely arrogant without the chops to back it up, and generally someone who's an embarrassment to tech. Of course he would invent a term like this, because he is exactly what the people he invented it to describe accuse him of being."

Ah, alcohol... What concentration?
The thing is that everyone seems to say different things about stability. this page suggests that when not in solution it's more stable. There's a guy here saying that storage in ethanol causes loss of potency. Here it's recommended to keep it dry and same here, but they're clearly having blotter in mind. This one says it's very unstable as blotter but can be kept in aqueous with preservatives.

That said, I've built pretty much all of my PCs for the last 20 years until this week. I found a good deal on an Asus G11 Desktop with an i7-6700 and a GTX 980. I could have saved a little building myself, but I decided to go the pre-built route this time and it's been great so far. Ultimately it comes down to what you prefer. The price is usually upgradability. In my case if I want to add additional components, there's only two PCIe 1x slots on the board that are open, so I'd probably need to get a new motherboard and case if I wanted to do anything other than swap out parts or add hard drives. So consider if you're ok with that before you buy.

BBC is wrong, it's NOT from the exploded rocket!
The part found is not from the recent explosion, it's from the CRS-4 resupply mission to the International Space Station that launched on 21st September 2014. See the Reddit thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/space... The part is the interstage separator, a carbon fibre component that sits between the first and second stages. It stays attached to the first stage after the second stage detaches - in the case of CRS-4 it re-entered the atmosphere under controlled flight, and was videoed by NASA to gain information on supersonic retropropulsion: https://www.reddit.com/r/space...
