Re:What about the chimes in the commercials?
Maybe it's just me, but every time I heard that sound it just made me want to cringe.
Actually, I thought it was brilliant for the exact reasons you mentioned.
You see, back in the Win95-ME days when Windows would output a sound on a program error aler, I set this up as the sound my computer would make.
As a result I often WOULD cringe if I ever heard the sound. Not only because I was constantly being reminded of my switch to Intel and Windows (from the Amiga) but also that some software I was running had crashed once again.
For these reasons, the "Intel Inside" chime became a very useful sound to me, though I never really liked hearing it. -

Re:What's changed?
When I first read the title of the story, I figured it was to prevent this kind of hard drive damage from happening.
That's a drive that spun it's platters free from the spindle and literally ground them away from the inside out.
It also made a horrible noise and created a lot of heat inside the case. :)
Apparently this new lube isn't related to this kind of thing. -
And of course...
There is always GTA3 for Gameboy Advance.

Re:Vice City
I have both, and find myself playing Vice City more simply because it's newer, but it doesn't seem that it has as much. Sometimes I'll play it just to "Find a new package today" or something like that.
GTA Vice City is a good game without a doubt, but in the end I think that GTA3 was a better game overall. Vice City also had a few more bizarre bugs than GTA3, but I don't guess that's really important.
What matters is that they're both great games, even if I personally think 3 was better than VC. I hope the series moves forward and doesn't become very ho-hum. -
Oh yeah?
Well, what do you think they're going to get off of THIS hard drive?

Overclock your sound blaster live...
I know with a group of geeks like this I'll end up getting moded as troll or something, but I don't understand why anyone would think that Live! is outdated.
I agree completely! I mean, if someone thinks their Live! isn't quite good enough, maybe they need to overclock it! -
