If I were to buy this, I would not have much of a need for the WiFi module. After all, the unit is not really meant to be moved around, and all the rooms in my house are Ethernet wired anyway. So, unless I ever want to use it as a WAP, I don't need it. Looking at what's available in MiniPCI, I found this on other MiniPCI offerings. There are about 3 modem cards, but no info on whether they support Caller ID. Wouldn't it be nice to have the Caller ID on your screen everytime the phone rings (some digital TV boxes implement this). And once this is done, you could add a bluetooth or infrared USB adapter so you can do the same with your "docked" cell phone! yupeeee

Don't you remember the Mobilix case? This web site about Unix on mobile computers was sued by the publishers of Asterix, as their name was too similar to that comic character. They've lost. They had to move the site to Tuxmobil.org.

Here in Germany you have to pay more than 100 Euro for the Microsoft Windows XP Home OEM edition, if you want to buy a laptop for example. There are only a few laptop manufacturers, which sell their machines without pre-installed OS. Just in case you don't need that OS, here are some legal ways to avoide the *Microsoft tax*.

Linux can be used as a means to protect our environment, by using its features to save power or paper, since it doesn't require big hardware it may be used with old computers to make their life cycle longer, games may be used in environmental education and software is available to simulate ecological processes. So why are other companies able to provide their drivers as Open Source? Do you think the developers of for example XFree86 were not capable to do a good job?

I hope to see this laptop in the Linux Laptop Installation Survey soon. Because many laptop manufacturers do not provice enough Linux support it often needs too much time before Linux installation reports become available. So if you want to buy a new laptop to install Linux on it, you are often on your own.

From my experience it's difficult to find hardware manuals and disassembly instructions, for electronics through search engines. Therefore I have collected some repair HOWTOs for laptops, for PDAs and for portable music players. BTW: There is also a Linux software for portable music players.
