Re:"violence to advance their cause"
LOL still buthurt about that huh?
So tell me, what's it like knowing you're promoting a lie because something hurt your feelings? Right. You've been proven wrong, but it hurts you so much to admit that you fucked up and can't admit it. Talk about pathetic.
It also makes me wonder if you're just like the a-typical male feminist ally, who actually turns out to be an abuser of women and was just projecting the entire time. Guess time will tell on that one, just like all those other people including the current meltdown of neogaf.

Re:"violence to advance their cause"
Almost everything you think you know about Antifa is due to trolling. There are extensive troll campaigns out there involving fake Antifa accounts. Each tries to outdo each other with the most outrageous thing they can say to make gullible right wingers take them seriously.
"Antifa" has no ideology except hatred of Nazis and those espousing similar ideologies (general white supremecists). It is not a "group". It has no "leaders". No little black book. Nothing except "hates and will actively oppose Nazis and other white supremecists", and random people who are of that view describe themselves with the term Antifa. Not all people who identify as "Antifa" support violence as a means to counter Nazi activity (there's been a widespread "Is it okay to punch a Nazi?" debate since Richard Spencer was punched on camera). Of those who would answer that with "Yes", there's a further subset known as "Black Bloc"; which again is not an ideology but more of a style (dressing in black and actively physically engaging when Nazis and aligned groups come to town). The "Don't punch a Nazi" crowd thinks of them as counterproductive. Black Bloc style protesting existed before "Antifa"; before the most recent flareup, it was most commonly associated in the US with WTO protests.
To reiterate: Black Bloc does engage in violence - although you might have been misled about "innocent victims". To pick an example: the most famous viral video of Black Bloc actions was this attack. Who is that poor innocent victim? Why, that's Keith Campbell, known on Twitter as "PatriotWarriorMedia". He's involved in R.A.M. ("Rise Above Movement"), a group built specifically around active training to engage in street brawls with perceived leftists. Rather than all black, their hide-their-face approach is black skeleton masks.
What did Campbell have to say about that protest where he got beaten up beforehand? Why let's look!: "Fuck Antifa! Let them come to Berkeley on August 27th so we can kick their asses AGAIN! @1776RealNews @ProudBoysCA @BasedCops"
How did that work out for you, Keith?
Anyway, this is all secondary to my main point, which was to make you aware of the fact that the vast majority of "Antifa" accounts are just trolling to try to dupe gullible right wingers. My personal take on the whole thing? Black Bloc protesters and R.A.M. deserve each other, and both can go F* themselves as far as I'm concerned.
I get people not seeing it at first glance but they clearly are under the umbrella of larger groups and the major political parties use direct action groups as a blunt tool despite the individual members often not being aware of it. They do have leaders they just look like some loose affiliated collection of dudes from the outside. I know people who have been involved on both the extreme left and right in Europe, mainly the left but a few on the right. On a local level like the independent groups identifying as blackbloc are coordinated by someone, although not exactly a formal leader by any stretch. However these groups answer to someone who is a coordinater with some semblance of structure and order (despite the ones I knew mainly being a mess they sort of work) and they themselves interface with a mid

Re:Verbing Vungle
It's hilarious how all of these SJW, anti-gamergate, snowflake assholes turned out to be projecting sex offenders, rapists, gun runners and child pornographers. I guess lashing out at honest people was a defense mechanism for all of the guilt that they carried around inside. This is just one more for the list.

Re:First post
You're talking about the bribe paid to get the Uranium One deal, right?
You gotta get those talking points right man. That was pro-quid legit business for the Clintons, and that massive bribery and kickback scheme that the FBI were investigating before the Obama admin stomped all over it. It's not that she and the DNC were actually doing this shit, and this was all projection or something. They're totes good peoples!
It's like all those directors, actors, reporters, gamejurno's and other "male feminist allies" who screeched that they're really, really, really good people, and never evar sexually harassed anyone! Before it all came out that really, they sexually harassed multiple people and even raped several(with a toss-mix of bomb threats). There's no projection going on here, none at all!

I can hardly believe
The screenshots in linked to the article shows that the complainer looked up driving directions for somewhere 0.7 miles away. That's a little under 1,000 steps. Unless there is some good reason (taking lots of luggage, rough neighbourhood, person is disabled) surely most people would walk that? And if there is a good reason why would anyone see it as an insult?

Re:what Hurricane
Yup, Met Eireann (in partnership with the UK Met Office) did so in order to raise public awareness of inbound storms. People apparently react better to "Storm Aileen" than they do to "Category 1 Storm", though you still get idiots standing on piers.
It's probably helps to mention that while these conditions are nothing like those encountered in Caribbean, the British Isles and Europe are unused to extreme wind conditions, so [many] people aren't aware of how quickly these conditions can overpower you.

CREIMER COMNMNT RATING: Unfunny
Yeah nobody is impressed or cares that you had a google contract. Most google employees I know are slim and most google facilities with a cafe also have a gym. Your idea of a workout is to go 2.55 mph (Under 144 calories for a man your size)
https://twitter.com/cdreimer/s...
That's not even the average human walking speed of 3.1 mph
This is the kinda post that will make people think you're a weirdo but they won't bother wasting mod points unless it's at least a 2 or 3 -
Re:So far, no government has approved...
The tweet was followed shortly thereafter by:
Still a lot of work needed to receive formal approval, but am optimistic that will occur rapidly
But while the former tweet was shared by 75k people, the latter was only shared by 1,5k. Even worse was how so many people still insist on pretending he was talking about the city level rather than the DOT, which has confirmed their discussions, adding "We have had promising conversations to date, are committed to transformative infrastructure projects, and believe our greatest solutions have often come from the ingenuity and drive of the private sector." You don't start seeking approval on an interstate project at the city level. But hey, any chance to bash Musk, so go for it.

Re:Skype has really gone downhill
Skype's React Native Android rewrite is terrible too.
https://twitter.com/reactnativ...
React Native loyalists claim this as a sign that React Native is ready for the enterprise. To me it's more like Microsoft use it for platforms they basically don't care about much- iOS and Android and it doesn't do a lot of the stuff the old version did. On the other hand they don't need to employ people to maintain separate native iOS and Android apps anymore.
I.e. they clearly see the platforms like this
First class - The latest Microsoft platform
Second class - Android and iOS. Anything but the latest Microsoft platform.
Third class - everything else -
Re:Guess you aren't big into facts.
The federal government lacks the authority to make such a commitment. And if you actually read the article you linked, and even the text you quoted, no commitment is to be found. But hey, let's leave that part out.
Right. It would have been much more responsible of Elon if he had continued his tweet with, oh, I don't know, something like "Still a lot of work needed to receive formal approval, but am optimistic that will occur rapidly". Right?
He promised delivery of 'x' in September
He did not promise anything. You clearly did not watch the launch event and have clearly never payed attention to the earnings calls.
Um, no. The plan was to produce 1500 vehicles.
The target was 30-100-300-1500 (they're, as has been stated many times in this comments' section, one month behind) - all of those numbers vastly below the production design of tens of thousands per month. To repeat: "Gee we all thought that the line was fully ready to produce tens of thousands of vehicles per month, but the schedule was only to produce a couple hundred for giggles."

Re:Personal phone, wasn't used often
The President will be flying to Puerto Rico tomorrow to view the devastation,
...Nope: Here are Trump comments from the same day.
1) He said "two hurricanes" hit Puerto Rico - FALSE
2) He said Maria was a "Category 5 hurricane" - FALSE
3) He said there were winds "over 200mph" - FALSE1) Irma & Maria - True, even if that is not quite what Trump said.
2) Maria was CAT 5 when it hit the Virgin Islands, Dominica, Cuba, and some other locations. It had slightly slower winds when it hit Puerto Rico. It is reasonable to refer to Maria as CAT 5 as the New York Times did. Rate this as true too.
3) Where in that link did he state the wind speed? I didn't see it. Even if he did are you claiming there were no wind gusts that fast? How would you know? Almost all of the wind gages in Puerto Rico were destroyed (by "gentle winds"?).
I'll rate this as a fabrication by you. And, he didn't get anywhere near the "devastation".
Yes he did, both on foot, and by helicopter.
Soros's payroll?l? Is it "funny" because it's true?

One for every occasion
Let's get in the wayback machine and go back to May 4, 2012.
https://twitter.com/realDonald...
You will notice that in this tweet, Donald Trump is complaining about a labor force participation rate of 64.3%, and that there should be 300,000 new jobs per month.
Last month, the labor force participation rate was 63.1% and the economy lost 33,000 jobs.
Before you say, "but, hurricanes!", let me remind you that before last month, there were 83 consecutive months of job growth in the US. The longest uninterrupted period in US history. There was a little storm called "Sandy" that hit the Northeast in October of 2012...and we still had job growth. The labor participation rate was higher then, too.

Just how far to the left are you?!
In the not-too-distant past the dominant voice on this site took a hard right turn.
Holy shit. Anyone who believes this must be an extreme ultra leftist who thinks that even Communists are "too conservative".
It's laughable to think that this site "took a hard right turn". It's routine to get anti-Trump submissions on the front page. This site is infested with leftists like AmiMoJo spewing leftist crap all of the place. Seriously, just look at this awful comment from AmiMoJo in this very story. Currently it's modded as 5, Insightful, while being full of leftist lunacy. It even blames Russia for Brexit, for example, which anyone who isn't an idiot knows is complete nonsense.
Open up any story about so-called "climate change". Any comment that isn't spewing agreement with the leftist narratives regarding so-called "climate change" will be brutally downmodded.
Look at Slashdot's Twitter account. What's its location set as? San Francisco! You know, the most leftist city in the most leftist American state! California is so leftist that it makes many far-left European nations seem right wing!
If we had to put Slashdot on the political spectrum, it would probably be solidly in the "far left" camp these days. It's not as far left to the left as Reddit, Hacker News, or the Huffington Post are, but it's pretty damn close to them. It surely cannot be considered "centrist" or "moderate", and it thus can definitely not be considered "right wing" in any sense.
Now maybe you can't see this because you're so far to the left that literally everyone else appears to be "right wing", even staunch leftists. But the reality is that Slashdot is not "right wing", and anyone who thinks Slashdot is "right wing" must be a drooling, extreme leftist.

To see millions of fake accounts...
To see millions of fake accounts, just look at Trump's followers. The numbers of accounts with no photo and no activity other than following Donald Trump and 30-60 others is astounding.
It would be very interesting to see an analysis of the patterns in the others followed by these accounts. The difference in that versus the others followed by the real accounts would help to reveal who is being promoted by the bot system creating these accounts.

The Russian's pretending to be AntiFa Boston accidentally left location tagging on. Not long after they deleted the tweet and then the account. If you look at this history of their posts, they were mostly just trolling white guys, and even before the gaffe they were widely known to be a fake group.

The most important part of the video, the reason I linked to it, is the part where that notch is clearly obtrusive when watching photos or videos.

Re:"The online identity problem"
Ironically the product VP of Evernym, James Monaghan recently said on twitter "Don't be Equifax. Design for trust instead".
However this entire announcement seems to be post-Equifax noise to drive additional funding to Evernym, in order to bolster the $750,000 they received from the Department of Homeland Security in May as part of their Small Business Innovation Research initiative (which, strangely, was kept quite quiet at the time). -

Re:Doesn't Help Much
Then that simply changes the question to why didn't the reporter comment on the fact that ALL PRESENTERS at the open source conference used a MacOS?
Your trying too hard too make an excuse, it is quite common for conference organizers to get a a podium with VGA/Audio jack at the podium for presenter laptops.
If you clicked on the link provided you would see that the person in question was seen using a MacOS TO CREATE THE SLIDES, not just present them.
It doesn't matter what OS they need in presentation. A presentation technology (to create/display/etc.) is irrelevant to the content. The main purpose of the summit is not about how to do a presentation or slide show technology. However, it is quite a common behavior of humans that like to nit-picking on everything that they do not have a hand on it, so that they can feel better of themselves. This situation is a good example.
