Veracrypt says not intentional backdoors
[Veracrypt's] Idrassi said he agrees with Forshaw that the vulnerabilities were not intentionally introduced and that they are the types of flaws that could have been known and exploited for years. --Kaspersky threatpost
But I can't find a statement by Forshaw that he thinks it wasn't intentional, only this tweet:
To clarify my last tweet, not saying the bugs were intentionally added.

Re:As a rule... I don't clink on shortened URLs
Why does Twitter use a URL obfuscator at all? According to the twitsplainer it's all about control:
Our link service measures information such as how many times a link has been clicked, which is an important quality signal in determining how relevant and interesting each Tweet is [for our ad clients]
And ironically, they advertise URL obfuscation as a security feature:
Having a link shortener protects users from malicious sites that engage in spreading malware, phishing attacks, and other harmful activity.
Yeah, right, protect me by blinding me.
If they must force all outgoing links through t.co for better data harvesting, they should at least show the real target URL as title. -
His Twitter handle is ''Crafty Deano''. Figures!
True. And not only did Dean Murphy's app net $75,000 from customers who thought they were paying for an ad-free experience, but the extra cash to allow ads is being paid to him by Adblock Plus themselves! http://www.theverge.com/2015/9...
iTunes says nothing about letting certain ads through: "Crystal is a content blocker for iPhone & iPad designed to make the mobile web a great experience. It blocks Adverts, User Tracking and improves speed, data use and battery life of your device as a result." Deceptive advertising!

He thinks Britain should leave NATO, but recently backtracked [telegraph.co.uk], saying that there's no "appetite" among the public to do so at the moment and he'll respect that.
Since when was a politician listening to what they public want a bad thing?
Russia basically endorsed him today.
Russia basically pointed out that Cameron is a moron today:

Re:Nothing to worry about
Corbyn also blames the Ukraine crisis on the west and ticked off Poland by saying that they never should have been allowed into NATO and instead "should have gone down the road Ukraine went in 1990". Re:Shared screen; no driver troubleshooting
However, everything in your article smacks of cherry picking.
I admit to having collected what I believe are the strongest points in favor of consoles.
It completely ignores the valid argument that a PC/laptop can and would be used for much more than gaming (i.e. work, homework)
How many people are willing to carry a PC back and forth between the computer desk and the living room with the big TV?
and that the vast majority of games now come with Xbox controller support which is easily added to a PC (No need for fiddling with controller settings)
Until the player plugs in a controller that's a standard HID, not an Xbox 360 controller. Then people end up complaining that a game works only with XInput.
It also ignores the fact that you can get a PC comparable to the latest game consoles for under $1000
And you can get a PlayStation 4 game console comparable to the latest game consoles for under $400, which can be used at the same time that someone else in the household is using the family PC for work or homework.
But, if I was on a tight budget and I wanted the best value, I would buy something that does more than just gaming.
And a lot of people would use that as an argument for a $400 "work or homework" PC and a $400 PlayStation 4 over a $1,000 PC.

Re:Sigh...Twitter is about following celebrities
Twitter does geotag tweets (easily enabled or disabled). You can search by where the tweet was posted, for a hashtag, for a phrase, or for nothing at all (all tweets near a location).

Not sure I buy that graph... but ignoring that it really has no impact on my point. Predictive services aren't yet important enough to drive smartphone buying decisions. They're past the gimmick stage, into the "useful in narrow ways" stage, but a lot more is coming.

Google turning their back on China didn't do much except cost them huge market share (Apple has been doing very well there). Because of all the blocks, an Android phone is almost a brick in China. Maybe they'll even fix Google maps there.

Re:Yes, in many states...
Nothing I did was "desperate", nor was I "regurgitating" Latour. Why do you lie so much?
Jane, the most charitable explanation is that you were simply regurgitating Latour rather than repeating his civilization-paralyzing misinformation in full knowledge that it violated what you call "kindergarten-level physics". But very few people will believe that most charitable explanation unless you can find it in your heart to finally retract your Slayer claims.
And nothing mainstream scientists have done is "desperate" but that doesn't stop Jane/Lonny Eachus from repeatedly projecting his own desperation onto them. Should we ask why Jane/Lonny Eachus lies so much, or just accept that "desperate" is a subjective judgment and that "discussions" about semantics are useless?
Jane/Lonny Eachus hasn't retracted his endless Sky Dragon Slayer claims, and continues to spread Slayer misinformation.
Bullshit. What "slayer misinformation" do you pretend I "continue" to spread? Just another lie. You seem to have no respect for the truth whatsoever.
... What is asking for the impossible, is asking me to stop doing something I'm not doing.I'll debunk all the Slayer misinformation you continue to spread. But you'll have to be patient (just like when you demanded that I debunk Latour's nonsense in the first place) because I'm still working on about a dozen debunkings of all the other libelous accusations you've hurled at mainstream scientists. Would you like me to debunk your Slayer misinformation before or after I debunk all the times you've accused mainstream scientists of fraud because they told you what scientists think?
So what is your point here? Some kind of attempt to show guilt by association? Some kind of attempt at sexual harassment? Because I have never so much as met any of these people, and I didn't even know of the existence of some of them until YOU pointed them out to me.
Wow! Jane, you still don't see the irony of your "sexual harassment" rants?
Jane, you spent years regurgitating Latour's nonsense and loudly insisting he was correct. Don't you remember repeatedly claiming to be happy to admit your mistakes? Once again, I gave you another opportunity to show that you have a shred of intellectual integrity by retracting your Slayer claims. And once again, you've declined...
Note the words "to the best of my knowledge". O'Sullivan had been accused of improper conduct, but was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. As for any other non-criminal conduct in his personal life, I have no knowledge or interest whatsoever. Further, as I indicated to you, the only person of whom I was aware, who could possibly be the subject of your ranting was O'Sullivan. So imagine my surprise when you linked to a page about someone named Manuel who was completely unknown to me. Further yet, as I told you at the time, I had no idea who were "members" of the Sky Dragon Slayers, nor did I care, nor was I a member myself. So you knew all this, yet posted all this bullshit anyway.
Jane, that's ridiculous. Maybe Jane/Lonny really didn't know that O'Sullivan later admitted his "fact-based crime story of a teacher's struggle to control his erotic obsession with a schoolgirl."
If Jane/Lonny really didn't know that, then he would apologize for helping a psychopathic pedophile blame h

Ars Technica writes that "At SourceFoundry.org this week, programmer Chris Simpkins debuted the 2.0 version of Hack, an open-source typeface designed specifically for use in source code." The revamped font is "characterized by a large x-height, wide aperture, and low contrast design in order to be "highly legible" at common coding text sizes," and the font specimen shows how legible it is right down to downright tiny sizes, though Simpkins says the sweet spot is between 8 and 12 pixels.
Hack's roots are in the libre, open source typeface community, and the project expands upon the contributions of the Bitstream Vera & DejaVu projects.
... Simpkins has been working on the project throughout 2015, and he tweeted that this latest version includes "new open type features, changes in weights, significant changes in spacing, Powerline glyphs, and more." The typeface now comes with four font styles: Regular, Bold, Oblique, and Bold Oblique. -
Re:Yes, in many states...
Saying we should have zero emissions is shorthand for saying we should not be adding CO2 to the atmosphere+oceans+biosphere. [Ken Caldeira, 2015-08-12]
That's the same definition used by every other mainstream scientist who discusses the "'allowable CO2 emissions budget' that would keep the world under 2 C of global warming." [Dumb Scientist, 2015-08-23]
Proof of moving the goalposts. Because MY comment wasn't about "allowable budgets". It was about emissions... the commonly understood, technically correct, and dictionary definition of "emission". It wasn't about "budgets", nor were the words Lonny was originally replying to on Twitter. [Jane Q. Public, 2015-08-26]
Nonsense. Again, that's the "technically correct" definition of "emission" written by the scientist who wrote the words Lonny was originally replying to on Twitter. Anyone who cares to look can see that Lonny was originally replying to this tweet about the "'allowable CO2 emissions budget' that would keep the world under 2 C of global warming.":
2C target old idea, phys unsafe, see @KenCaldeira thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/0... "There is some noise around the idea that it useful to think about some amount of 'allowable CO2 emissions budget' that would keep the world under 2 C of global warming.
..." [Peter Shepherd, 2015-08-11]Then @KenCaldeira should commit suicide immediately. He emits 40,000 ppm CO2. Talk about unacceptable levels! @tan123 [Lonny Eachus, 2015-08-11]
Lonny was originally replying to Ken Caldera's words about "allowable CO2 emissions budget"! Jane/Lonny's apparent ignorance of the words Lonny was replying to might be a good defense, unless Jane keeps digging...
... Your argument that exhaling cannot increase overall CO2 may or may not be true, but it's irrelevant... [Jane Q. Public, 2015-08-26]
Understanding that exhaling cannot increase overall CO2 is an important prerequisite to understanding what scientists talking about anthropogenic warming mean when they say "emissions". Please Jane, can we agree that exhaling cannot increase overall CO2? If not, that's the fundamental cause of our miscommunication. And yeah, that's extremely relevant.
It's important to remember that breathing can't increase overall CO2 because it's like a circulation pump in a pool. Therefore mainstream scientists don't include breathing in an "'allowable CO2 emissions budget' that would keep the world under 2 C of global warming." In exactly the same way, plumbers don't include a circulation pump's flow in an "'allowable water budget' that keeps the pool from overflowing."
... your ridiculous argument that exhaling was not an "emission". You are a complete nutcase. An exhalation is an emission in exactly the same way that CO2 from an exhaust pipe is an emission. Organic compounds are "burned" via your metabolism in an analogous way to how ethanol is burned in your automobile. Both are relatively simple organic "cycles"... the CO2 could be from corn in either case. Your argument that exhaling cannot increase overall CO2 may or may not be true, but it's irrelevant to whether an exhalation is an "emission"

Rep. Rohrabacher accuses scientists of lying.
so where is the example of me calling someone a liar? questioning facts & logic is honest disagreement U should try that approach [Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), 2015-08-24]

Not congruent with their own TOS
The first sentence of the first section of Twitter's own TOS:
"You are responsible for your use of the Services, for any Content you post to the Services, and for any consequences thereof."
Perhaps this move by Twitter comes after some external political pressure, because it's certainly not something that Twitter's own policies deem as necessary.

Why not Breitbart ?
Well I would venture that the people complaining are opposed to what they perceive as Breitbart's political leaning but are perfectly willing to accept bad reporting from sources that advance their agenda
Ex

For or against Trump he drew 20,000 + people to that rally. You have to ask is NBC reporting the news here or trying to control it ?

Re:Google Maps
But I guess they aren't the government... if the government does it, it's fine.. (???)
That's the entire premise of government, dude - they're people with extra rights once they put on their funny costumes. The market rules of reason, logic, and justice don't apply - only vaguely expressed intentions and platitudes (see any recent Supreme Court decision). And if you disagree, there's a SWAT team with AR-15's to change (or eradicate) your mind.
OK, now you can skip day one of law school.

Re:Piss off
The message along the lines of "report the bug and we send in the lawyers",
Thus my favourite tweet about this:
It stops the reverse engineering or else it gets the EULA again.
Brilliant.

In Washington trying to make research illegal
Oracle has been reportedly working hard in Washington trying to make security research illegal.
Of course, malicious hackers will always be finding exploits, and using them. -
Re:More KB2956128 than you can handle
I'll just throw this out before the article gets locked.
and my own Tweet
That links to an Office Forums site.
This problem needs some spotlight.

Re:Thug culture is to blame.
Umm, no. It was a couple douchebag "pranksters" looking for fame. The culprits are Jesse Wellens & Ed Bassmaster, the last people to pick up the hitchbot & the ones who released this fake video: https://twitter.com/CBCNews/st... You can tell its fake because Google maps shows there's no surveillance cameras in the area (confirmed the local Fox News affiliates) and the angle is too low. What they did was stage it, they left the bot in one place (shown on local news footage) but later returned to stage the publicity stunt using their own camera & adding effects to the video to make it look more like security footage. Like so: https://twitter.com/JMJimmy1/s... Fortunately they're complete idiots and people saw through it right away. Not only did they recognize Ed Bassmaster in the video, they noticed his truck parked across the street. Meanwhile they've generated hundreds of thousands of views on various YouTube videos to rake in $$$ for their vandalism.

Re:Where is it?
Unreal that this is still going on. It's FAKED. They shot the "surveillance" footage themselves: https://twitter.com/JMJimmy1/s... - they stole the head and left the dismembered body behind to generate clicks & views.
