Re:Great news!
From Ukraine Today:
Kissinger advises Trump to accept Crimea as Russia – BildHere's what the old war-criminal envisions:
He believes that rapprochement with Russia is the right move to position itself against the increasing militarization of China. A balance between America and Russia would strengthen global stability.
According to the analysis of Western European intelligence services, which refers to the information from the Trump team, the future U.S. president is also seeking the abolition of the Russian sanctions on the "Kissinger's recommendation".
Kissinger also recommends recognizing the dominance of Russia in the former Soviet republics of Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia and Kazakhstan. This means: The US politically confers Russia's space between Poland / Baltics and Iran, Afghanistan and China as a sphere of influence.
The long-time Putin confidant has also his plan for political and economic development of Ukraine. The core of the idea is that Russia guarantees the security of the eastern Ukraine, gradually withdrawing from there. The West, in return, does not interfere with the Crimean question.

Re:Propaganda
Fake news is likely to be on both sides.
That is, things are always NOT simple as black and white, as MSM, and some people here try to paint.
Recently, the Poles nationalists shouted slogans against Ukrainians, and a day later Poland quickly blamed Russia for this.
So, Yushchenko pro-Western president in 2004, granted Bandera "Hero of Ukraine", and Poroshenko pro-Western president in 2016, renamed "Moscow Avenue" to "Bandera Avenue", which more or less have raised the long, hidden conflicts between Ukraine-Poland are also Russian hybridwar?
Note: for another perspective, the difference between Time magazine 2016 and 1996?
1996: Yanks to the rescue. The secret story of how American advisers helped Yeltsin winFor four months, a group of American political consultants clandestinely participated in guiding Yeltsin's campaign. Here is the inside story of how these advisers helped Yeltsin achieve the victory that will keep reform in Russia alive.

Russians are delusional and barbaric
Sorry, but once you oust a democratically elected government, you destroy your democracy..
Yanukovych tried to destroy Ukraine's democracy by passing his Dictatorship Laws, written with the help of Putin and Surkov, modeled on legislation that existed in Terrorussia. Ukrainians saved their democracy (i.e. prevented the country from turning into a Putinist autocracy) through popular revolution. As far as democracy goes, Ukraine ranks extremely favorably compared to other post-Soviet countries, with the exception of the Baltics. Your Russia, on the other hand, is less democratic than Zimbabwe or Venezuela.
All they had to do was wait 1 year and settle their issues in a legitimate election.
As usual, you Russians are far too stupid to understand that in that one year, Yanukovych would've dismantled what was left of Ukraine's army, filled Ukraine's security services to the brim with Russian agents, stolen everything that wasn't nailed down, and ensured that he or some proxy would win the next presidential election.
They would've still had Crimea, east Ukraine, and a functioning country
The country still functions, and it is finally in the process of getting rid of the last vestiges of Russian influence, which is why dumb animals such as yourself are throwing such a fit. In spite of the war, GDP grew by 2 percent, compared to the same quarter last year; Russia is still in recession, in spite of its natural resources. The world still recognizes Crimea as Ukrainian, and it will be returned in due time (especially since Russia has obliterated Crimea's tourism-based economy) The only thing that the savage Russians had to do to avoid sanctions, avoid turning their country into an international pariah, and avoid recession, was not attack their neighbors. But that was too much to ask.

Re:Way to waste every modicum of self-respect Obam
So the guy that's still funding cutthroats in Syria
You're confused. It's the Syrian army and the Russians who are funding and supplying the cutthroats in Syria. Just this week the Syrian army turned over numerous tanks, APCs, trucks and other vehicles to ISIS.
Meanwhile, the Russians were nice enough to give ISIS and entire barracks complex, complete with tents, bunk beds, air conditioning, food, reading and even credit cards so ISIS could go shopping.
This was on top of the rifles, machine guns, mortars and ammunition to go with it all, as well as several anti-aircraft missile batteries. -

Somebody mod this story down
This story presents facts about Russia's troll factory in St. Petersburg, just as I have done in numerous previous postings and got hammered by the Russian trolls. Go ahead, check my most recent postings to see how the trolls mindlessly mod me down for reporting facts about this troll factory, about the continuing shipments of cargo 200 from Ukraine (i.e. dead Russian soldiers), the terrorists in Ukraine who openly admit Russian soldiers are fighting there and supplying them with arms and munitions, or the Russian soldiers who state they have been sent to Ukraine and have fought there, and finally, the law which Putin signed which bars Russian mothers from talking about their sons who have died while fighting in Ukraine or even talking with other mothers about these deaths. Or course the graves of these dead Russian soldiers say otherwise, as do reports from eyewitnesses and families.
This story need to be modded down in like fashion. Wouldn't want the Russian trolls to have to see the facts of their dear leader's propaganda industry. -
Re:And furthermore
Of course you focus on the messenger far too much and ignore the more obvious.
Funny thing about that. I posted factual stories about the death threats electoral candidates had received from Trump supporters during the primary, posted factual stories about death threats mosques are receiving from Trump supporters after the election, posted factual stories about the many failings Trump has (businesses, sexual assaults, outright lies), posted factual stories about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and yet oddly, that is exactly what people like you focused on. Not the story itself, but the source.
Because those stories came from legitimate news sources they were denounced because they came from the "mainstream media". I even posted a link from a non-"mainstream media" source who was adamant that Hillary would win the election because they had it on good authority the election was rigged to show how un-factual non-"mainstream media" are. /. even has had a few recent stories about the fake "news" which has been going around.
Funny how factual stories, because they come the "mainstream media", are thrown aside, while their factual content is ignored like your claim. So let's play the game. Here is a factual story about the terrorists in Ukraine openly admitting Russian troops are helping them as well as Russia supplying them with arms, munitions and even troops. Let's see how fast all the facts I have posted can be modded down to -1. I give it ten minutes at the most. -
Re:Still better than Russia
Also Britain DOES have several nuclear missile submarines, and only one is needed to offset the threat of homeland annihilation without ability to counterattack. Russia is working on developing tugboats for its submarines since it's only aircraft carrier needed one to even traverse the Mediterranean sea to reach Syria.
-
Still better than Russia
Considering the size of Great Britain compared to Russia, the Royal Navy is still far ahead in capabilities. For instance, the Royal Navy does not have to have a tug boat go along with their aircraft carrier because it breaks down so often.
Then again, the Royal Navy has more than one aircraft carrier. Unlike Russia. -
Re:So much for Kremlin doing the Hacking
To add to your comment, Russia's Economy Minister has said Russia will (probably) suffer from stagnation for the next twenty years.
Not only that, a different minister (can't find the article) has said by 2019 roughly 20% of the Russian people will live below the poverty line.
These bank interruptions will help neither situation. -
Re:Classic over-engineering.
The reason people wanted freedom and prosperity in Ukraine was because of the corruption foisted upon them by their pro-Russian "leaders". That's why Putin was so desperate to bribe Yanukovych when he saw the people of Ukraine wanted closer relations with the West. It's why Yanukovych fled into Putin's arms after he ordered his Berkut security forces to murder protestors.
It's also why Putin recently met with Yanukovych to discuss the bribes Yanukovych was giving to a former Trump campaign aid.
That is why Putin has invaded Ukraine because the people are tired of corruption. Putin doesn't want Ukraine to prosper. He's upset that the Baltic states have had a surge of prosperity now that they are out from under the boot heel of Russia while Russia continues to sink further into the mud. He doesn't want his people to see how backwards, how poor, how far behind countries such as Latvia and Lithuania the Russian people are.
Speaking of which, considering the corruption endemic in Russia under Putin's regime it's funny to hear Russian trolls talk about corruption in other countries. When Putin decides who can and cannot run for elected office, when Putin decides to shut down independent radio, tv and newspapers, when Putin decides your business belongs to him or one of his oligarch friends, when Putin decides a political opponent should be shot dead in front of the Kremlin, now that's corruption! -
Re:Hmm
But the Euromaidan protests were sponsored by western governments and NGOs.
Hello Russian troll! How's the weather in St. Petersburg? Getting your daily vodka allotment?
No one in the West, especially NGOs, sponsored the Ukrainian protests over Yanukovych's refusal to listen to the people. Your repeated lies about supposed billions of dollars used in this endeavor are nothing but fantasy and delusional rantings of drunk, paid trolls such as yourself.
Ukraine wanted to go their own way and have closer trade relations with Russia rather than the crumbling EU
Once again, more delusional rantings. The people of Ukraine made it very clear they wanted closer ties with the EU and the West in general. They saw the prosperity, and freedoms, which exist in an open society compared to the oppression and repression which exists in Russia under Putin's regime and wanted to experience the same.
When Yanukovych ignored the will of the people he then ordered his Berkut security forces to murder the protestors, then fled into the arms of Putin for protection, taking with him hundreds of millions of dollars he had stolen from the Ukrainian people.
but you can't act like Russia started it.
False once again. Russia started it when it first tried to bribe Yanukovych then, when the people made it known they didn't want anything to do with the oppression of Russia, Putin then made up the excuse of people who spoke Russian in Ukraine needing his protection.
It was at that point Putin sent his troops into Crimea to steal it, and also sent in Russian troops to prop up the terrorists who were on the verge of defeat in the spring of 2014. We know for an absolute fact Russian troops attacked Ukraine because a) there was a sudden increase of hundreds of dead Russian soldiers being buried, all with their date of death within the span of a few days, b) the terrorists have stated several different times the Russian soldiers saved them from defeat and c) Russian soldiers continue to be killed and captured in Ukraine.
What makes Putin's lie about supposedly defending Russian speakers in Ukraine so laughable is he is persecuting the Tartars in Crimea who want to speak their own language, who want to have their own schools, who want to have their own radio stations. Putin continues to indiscriminately arrest Crimean Tartars and put them in jail for no reason other than they want to speak their own language.
Russia lost. Get over it. The thousands of dead Russian soldiers, the billions Putin has spent invading and now supporting the terrorists, the sanctions, all are taking a toll on Russia. Putin is at a turning point. He has until, roughly, June before Russia will run out of money. Unless he can steal more, Russia will go bankrupt. Even your own Finance Minister says Russia will suffer for twenty years because of the invasion, support of the terrorists and sanctions. Or are you saying your own minister is lying? -
Funny, but meh
When one considers Russia has an office in St. Petersburg out of which it pays an army of online trolls to spew Russian propaganda or muddy the waters by making false statements and outright lies about Russia's invasion of Ukraine, one person from the U.S., doing this on his own without government backing, doesn't quite rise to the level of nuisance.
Sure, Putin is probably miffed this has been done and is looking for payback, but when one is spending millions of dollars every year to pay people (not to mention their vodka allotment) to do your bidding, and providing them the equipment to do so, one person isn't going to make a difference.
Had he instead posted pictures of the unmarked graves of Russian soldiers who have died during the invasion of Ukraine, that would have been different and had a greater impact. Not that Putin cares about the over 2,000 soldiers who have so far died during the invasion, including colonels within the Russian military who are working to support the invasion, but it would have been a nice touch to rub Putin's nose into how badly Russia miscalculated and is suffering because of Putin's ego. -

Re:Even in light of this, we're self congratulator
The Russians are laughing all right, but this is way down the list.
True, but that's because Russia has a serious cash flow problem. At the current burn rate, which includes supporting the Syrian regime both militarily and financially, as well as the terrorists in East Ukraine, again both militarily and financially, Russia will run out of cash roughly by the middle of next year.
This presumes oil stays below $50/barrel and Putin doesn't decide to tell the terrorists he's pulling out his Russian troops and will only send in ammunition and equipment, not troops, the reason being the cost of paying out death benefits to family members and even worse, the monthly costs of paying for those troops and auxiliaries who have been wounded.
With the recent capture of another Russian who provided information that Russian troops are now in complete control of some of the terrorist battle groups, the costs to Russia for the invasion are rapidly become unsustainable.
