Re:Good potential - TO ID NAZI COWARDS FOR LATER
One need merely look at the tweets Gab is making as a company from their own corporate Twitter tag (example) to realize the "free speech" thing is just a cover for their actual agenda.

Re:Commentary and Parody
Agreed. Bitwit's satire analysis was priceless.
IMO Stefan is a total fucking idiot. Stupidity is not a respecter of race. Here is a (partial) list of all the lies in the video for your enjoyment!
Lie #1: Need a table. Fact: Any flat surface, including a floor, is OK. Carpet / wooden surface doesn't really matter.
Lie #2: Need thermal paste applicator. Fact: No, you don't need one.
Lie #3: Need Allen key / Allen wrench. Fact: Unless you have specific parts that require them, no, you don't need one.
Lie #4 Calls zip ties tweezers. Fact: Tweezers are not zip ties, and zip ties are not tweezers.
Lie #5: Need tweezers. Fact: Cable ties, Zip ties, or Velcro stripes will be handy for cable management.
Lie #6: Says to use zip ties: Fact: Never used them.
Lie #7: Need Swiss army knife. Fact: Use a Phillips screwdriver
Lie #8: Need Anti-static wrist bracelet. Fact: No, just touch the PSU as you work to ground yourself
Lie #9: Anti-static bracelets don't need to be grounded. Fact: Anti-static bracelets only work if they are actually grounded. "Wireless" Anti Static don't actually work, go figure.
Lie #10: Calls it a "brace." Fact: It's called an I/O Shield
Lie #11: Hammer in the brace. Fact: *Gently* install the I/O Shield
Lie #12: Calls it a Lane. Fact: They are called PCI Express slots.
Lie #13: PCI "Lane" doesn't matter. Fact: Generally the PCI express slot closest to the PSU has the most bandwidth -- but double check your motherboard manual to verify _where_ the x16 slot(s) are located.
Lie #14: Calls the power supply a "Brick." Fact: It's called a PSU or Power Supply Unit.
Lie #15: Calls it "insulation pads." Fact: They are anti-vibration pads.
Lie #16: Align with "insulation pads" ... Fact: The PSU rests on top of anti-vibration pads
Lie #17: ... so power supply doesn't short circuit. Fact: The PSU is *meant* to touch the case at all times.
Lie #18: *Block the PSU fan*. Fact: Do NOT block the PSU's fan. Double check your case's airflow see which direction the PSU's fan should be pointing.
Lie #19. Install CPU after GPU. Fact: Installing the CPU _first_ will make it EASIER rather then later.
Lie #20: Says to install all 4 screws for the CPU cooler but only installs 3!! They are missing the bottom left one!! Fact: Make sure you install ALL FOUR screws of CPU cooler to keep EVEN pressure. This fucking moron is FULL of excuses:
a) Twitter, and
liked I've said before, wasn't allowed a reshoot. the paste was cleaned up, RAM in correct slot, PSU facing correct direction. *Obviously* this PC works.
b) Twitch
It's not my first computer
It was SO bad that even Linus offered to help!
"I'd actually love to come help out if you want to do a pt2 or follow up to this."
And to top it off The Verge made this excuse:
"on another note. tech youtubers are not journalists"
Gee, yet actual YouTubers know HOW to properly put together a build. This dumb journalist can't even pretend to!
If they had just

Re: What we should learn is not to trust studies.
This is particularly true in fields like nutrition, where the funding available is low relative to the complexity of the problem being studied.
Most studies in the field of nutrition fall into the "inconclusive" category.
The more complex a system you are talking about, the more apparently contrasting evidence is bound to be found.
Now you're talking about this kind of thing. Fortunately, if someone does yet another study to determine whether coffee causes cancer, they summarize previous research briefly, in order to explain why their study is special.
A lot of times the problem is the media misrepresenting a study in order to be sensationalistic, and if you read the actual paper instead of the reports, it's more tame and accurate. (and sometimes scientists are complicit in it, by the title of their paper something surprising or by giving interviews to the media that are not entirely supported, or they are misquoted.) -
Re:Your stats are from where...?
It's something to look at. To put it into perspective, everything we eat both causes and cures cancer.

For those unaware of the history of the region
In a nutshell, a large part of the Middle East including part of modern-day Turkey used to be part of the Ottoman Empire. One of the less-known facts about WWI was that the Ottoman Empire was on the losing side, which eventually led to its dissolution. The European victors then carved it up with little regard for the cultural and religious boundaries of the indigenous people. The modern countries there - Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Israel - Palestine, Jordan were drawn with these arbitrary borders. The instability in the region is partially (mostly) due to the cultural borders not coinciding with the political borders. The Kurds (about 40 million of them) were the biggest ethnicity screwed out of a country to call their own. They're spread between Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey, and all of those countries are paranoid that the Kurds will try to declare independence and secede.

Re:Don't they have PUBG to thank?
we need to add our own battle royale mode into Fortnite" and -boom- the rest was history.
Metoo usually doesn't sway players to drop one game for another.
Remember there's another difference:
Pubg: https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbo...
Fortnite: https://3bonlp1aiidtbao4s10xac...And then also remember that realistic shooters come and go while Team Fortress 2 still has a player base 11 years later: https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker...
I think there's another highly popular online game I'm missing too... https://image.redbull.com/rbco...
Those pictures should tell you the difference and why Fortnite appeals to masses.

For the umpteenth time - a Zombie talking point
The ISPs do not have natural monopolies.
But of course they do. Aside from rsilvergun's point on the high capital costs of rolling out a network and the enormous advantages held by an established player - there's also market consolidation. Which will leave you with a handful (or less) of providers in the end, anyway. Case in point: AT&T was broken up in an anti-trust suit decades ago, but has totally rebuilt itself via acquisitions and mergers.
-
Re:The reason you're not seeing competition
is because capital costs and profit margins are too high.
That and market consolidation that will leave you with a single provider in the end anyway. Like how AT&T reconstituted itself in the decades since it was broken up in an anti-trust lawsuit.

Re:Are all electromagnets equal?
The Kibble balance uses measurements of voltage, current, velocity and gravitational acceleration in order to calculate the mass that was placed on the balance. Here's the maths involved.
Then it's likely that those measured masses will be used to calibrate other equipment, as is done now with reference masses that were compared to Big K.

IPad 4x3 looks 90's
The iPad was made 4x3, because the original iPhone was 4x3, so it could run the same applications, scaled.
Now, the iPad stands alone, rockin' 4x3, like it's 1999.
Especially, with a keyboard attached. It looks like an obsolete laptop that you can watch videos with those glorious black bars, reminding you the long gone CRT's.

Hah! You think that's terrible? It's worse!
Wow! Good chart. I simplified the link: Everything we eat both causes and prevents cancer.
Lights? Melatonin? Sleep deprivation? Hah! I have a worse story. And a solution!
Combination Wrench, 5-7/8", 9mm, Chrome Vanadium Steel, Westward, 36A224
The California notice:
"WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including one or more listed chemicals which are known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov"
Chrome causes cancer: Epidemiologic studies of chrome and cancer mortality: a series of meta-analyses.
Vanadium causes cancer: Toxic Substances Portal - Vanadium Quote: "Everyone is exposed to low levels of vanadium in air, water, and food; however, most people are exposed mainly from food."
There is poison in dirt! My solution: We need to find a new planet. -
Inconclusive
"men who slept in “quite illuminated” bedrooms had a higher risk of prostate cancer (OR=2.79; 95% CI: 1.55, 5.04), whereas women had a slightly lower risk of breast cancer (OR=0.77; 95% CI: 0.39, 1.51)."
It's not uncommon for a single study to show a statistically significant, or even dramatic, effect on cancer rates. Check out this graph for good examples. You can't say anything about these kinds of studies except, "was within the margin of error."

NEWSFLASH: Lynnwood is full of shit
Lynnwood liar at it again.
It's fossil fuels that are subsidised 7 times as much. Did you have trouble reading the graph...
Your friends at the EIA tell us that renewables are 15% and coal+gas is 64%. How is that 15x? (even ignoring the fact they only count utility solar and not non utility production.
You're as full of shit as ever. -
Re:We need examples of the elleged Russian action
No. We just elected a president whose existence is predicated upon lies. I'm not saying nobody else lies (everybody does to some degree or another), but if we can put trust in somebody who says things that are verifiably false, like how much more popular his inauguration was vs Obama's, how do we expect "truth" to become a norm?
At one point politicians at least tried to spin the truth to fit their agenda. Now they've figured out lies and heated emotions carry more weight than facts and level-headedness. Finger-pointing works wonders. "That Mexican took my jerb!!!!!!!!!"

5. Stay on topic. We're talking about whether gun control reduces violent crime. Look at this chart and tell me how gun control doesn't work. If you'd like to imagine that the presence of more guns justifies more gun crime, remember that Switzerland has nearly as many guns as the US, and they're far more evenly distributed among the population there.

Then there's the other HP logo.
It's almost as if they're ashamed of the name and they're trying to hide it.

Why do you hate Japanese people so much, man?
Here's a photo from yesterday's Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago. I don't see any Japanese people.

Re:I wonder what's going to happen to the mid east
Right now there is no religious war in the middle east.
There are only wars about territory and power. You should look on a map
... someone above posted one, I take the liberty to repost it: https://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/asset... -
Re:I wonder what's going to happen to the mid east
Corrected link to an ethnic map of the Middle East.

Go ahead
From what I remember the last time this came up, there were about 150 companies that signed a letter as proponents of net neutrality including major players like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. So if were the Democrats I would frame this as Trump being anti-business.

Average income is down a tad from the highest it has ever been in the history of the country.

Re:Turkey is due for some DEMOCRACY
Politically, the whole fustercluck dates back to the end of the first World War. The Ottoman Empire was on the losing side, and ceased to exist after WWI. The European victors carved its territory up along arbitrary lines, without regard for the cultural and even lingual boundaries. Those lines became the modern country borders we know today. Most of the modern Middle-eastern conflicts trace their roots back to this. Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, Israel/Palestine, and Turkey.
Culturally, it would've made a lot more sense to divide the territory up into Turkey, Kurdistan, and Arabia plus maybe a few other small countries, instead of the patchwork it is today. -

Re:But why does it suffer from brewer's droop?
My theory, which goes for the PS3 as well: it stops you putting any other device neatly on top of it, making it seem more awesome (hopefully to your Tivo-less friends who come over) thanks to it being at the top of the stack.

Re:Good Luck
It is explicitly stated in the contract:
Any breach of this Agreement may cause Amazon irreparable harm for which there is no adequate remedy at law. As a result, Amazon will be entitled to the issuance by a court of competent jurisdiction of an injunction, restraining order, or other equitable relief in favor of itself, without the necessity of posting a bond, restraining Employee from committing or continuing to commit any such violation.

Background
Just for reference, Orshan is a bankruptcy lawyer, but, while he's a named plaintiff, there are other lawyers handling the case. Christopher Endara was VP of a generic orthopedic screw manufacturer (Internal Fixation Systems, OTC stock IFIXQ) that went bankrupt; the company assets were bought up by US Orthopedics.
The class action filing can be read at https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/2893306/1-main.0.pdf .
Not that anyone cares, but background is fun; let the fanboi wars begin.

Re:Illegal
Is that quote in TFA somewhere? I'm not seeing it, though I have a lot of their flash blocked.
It is an image on TFA, so it is NOT text searchable but viewable WITHOUT FLASH. Your comment indicates that you didn't bother to scroll down to read the whole TFA. If you still cannot find it, the image link is http://cdn1.vox-cdn.com/thumbo... which is the first image after the article image on the top.
