What if it was made of birds?

Well, parameters are something else, eg. coefficients in a function or the color of jelly beans.

The more arbitrary parameters a theory includes, the easier it becomes to make it fit the data regardless of whether it makes any sense.

As for most unusual circumstances, about 15 years ago me and the owner (and also programmer) of the company i was working for at the time fixed in 15 minutes a bug that neither of us had been able to fix in the last 2 weeks sober. It was 3 am and we were both dead drunk as we were celebrating someone's birthday at the office :)

Seriously, I'm pretty sure I've seen this on an old Vonage box I was playing around with.

For many of the smaller microcontrollers we're lucky to have a full libc. It's always a wonderful day when I have to choose between rewriting an algorithm to use integers or taking a chance with new hardware with a built in floating point unit when the ship date is fast approaching.

i think the tech is cool, sure, but the hype kills it for me...it's just not quantum teleportation at all...it's a cheap knockoff...like one of those chinsese Iphone rip-off's that have virtually the same case but the software is rudimentary & essentially a flip phone with a big screen

i just don't know how we, /. readers, can fix it...is there someone on /. who has the exposure to change the nomenclature on this?

let's call it "quantum cryptography"...it still sounds super cool and futuristic! you can still have headlines that talk about "overturning Einstien" and "teleportation"...you can say it's use now is cryptography but "one day could pave the way for *true quantum computing*"

Regulation (and legalese in general) becomes complex because it has to deal with all the crazy ways that creative, highly motivated, self-interested entities will find to circumvent it.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that more complex regulation is better. Regulation should be as simple as possible. The key to that sentence and the problem in your understanding of this matter lies in the last part: 'as possible'. Everybody can yell 'Well, just have every x below parameter y be illegal! Problem solved!' until they are confronted with a case for which their simple rule does not solve the problem.

I usually make up a story/phrase by using words that start with the random letters if I need to remember such a password. It is doable for a few passwords at least.

But I hear people really interested in protecting their shit are getting Emus, Emus are very territorial, and no one comes prepared to fight off a hyper aggressive 200 pound turkey (which can outrun them 3 times over). They also survive very well after getting shot, apparently, for some reason.

That sounds fine for the back yard, but I'm not sure about having (basically) a small Velociraptor running around *inside* the house...especially, if you're doing any coding.
