Re: The Guardian goes full racist
Jesus fucking Christ, are you for real? Not even sure if I should reply, but there might be a few stragglers reading this. The women are for real. They spoke at TED. Not TEDx, real TED. They talked about their baby, Black Lives Matter. And you can also see that many people do chant the same slogan, over and over. The slogan at the top of the BLM site I linked. Not all, but it is there.
TED is a conference where you have to pay $6000 just to walk in the door. "Past speakers include Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall, Al Gore, Gordon Brown, Billy Graham, Richard Dawkins, Bill Gates, Bono, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and many Nobel Prize winners." Yeah, lots of very, very smart and rich and well-connected people run the thing and attend the thing. If TED had been conned by three frauds claiming to have been the originators of the BLM hashtag and a subsequent nationwide BLM movement, someone would notice and it would've been in the fucking newspaper.
I only skimmed the rest of your post after reading that, but it appears to be aimless blithering that's trying to pretend my words mean something other than their plain English meaning. -

Re:Multiple Screens
Agreed. The potential was there, just unrealized
To this day, I maintain that the Nintendo Land tech demo was still the best game for the WiiU. It offered up a fresh take on many existing franchises, it had several good single player games as well as multiplayer, and it used the tablet creatively to provide asymmetric multiplayer. More than anything else though, it was fun and different. The unique hardware allowed for gameplay that you just couldn't get anywhere else at the time.*
But, sadly, that's where the fun started and stopped. Games couldn't find a good use for the touchpad, and the whole thing languished.
*One game I've found recently that feels like it would have been perfect on the WiiU: Keep talking an nobody Explodes. WiiU could have utilized the second screen for the manuals and the TV for the bomb. Would've been amazing.

Re:Some of the best satire
How are the anti-Milo demonstrators any different than the anti-Westboro baptist church demonstrators that follow them around? Counterprotests are part of free speech too. And aside from black bloc, those Berkeley protesters was peaceful.
We never did figure out a way to make sure no one beat up Westboro Baptist Church, but if you've got an idea, I'm open to it. Just remember, you can't control the people who show up to protest with you -- that's part of freedom too.

Re:omg proof reading
You just don't get it. When talking Electric Cars the end justifies the means and outright lying is completely acceptable. It's a religion, not a technology.
Anybody that buys AGM or Li-Ion batteries knows that while the density has improved, the price hasn't come down much. And that pesky problem of thermal runaway under conditions of pressure (like what happens when cars crash) has not been solved. Here's one of thousands of examples https://www.youtube.com/watch?... -

Re:It's always the pedos
It is sort of ironic, too, that the vast majority of pedophiles are so-called prominent, respectable members of society who are deeply connected to these pedophile rings and child traffickers.
Intelligence agencies such as CIA, Mossad, as well as organized crime gangs such as the Italian mafia use pedophilia as a tool to compromise powerful and influential people. Operations such as the Mossad's "Lolita Island", run by pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and former republican party's sadistic pedophile Larry King's house on Embassy Row in DC are just two examples of hi-profile blackmail operations.
Some known prominent 'guests' of Epstein include the Clintons and members of the British Royal family, among others. Larry King was reputed to have 'dirt' on many US republican party members, as well as prominent businessmen such as Peter Citron and Alan Baer.
George Bush Sr. is reputed to be a homosexual pedophile, according to victim Paul Bonacci (although Bonacci has stated that he wasn't raped by Bush himself, but witnessed other children being abused by Bush). Bonacci does however, name several politicians and prominent individuals that he was 'passed around to' in his interview with former FBI special agent Ted Gunderson Interview is here
This practice has be going on for generations.
A few examples would include Elm House, Kincora House, Dolphin Square in the UK; Pizzagate, the Franklin Cover-Up and McMartin Preschool in the USA; the Cornwall Clan in Canada; the Mark Dutroux case in Belgium; the Hollywood pedophile ring discussed by Corey Feldman and Elijah Wood; and on and on.
Nearly every case that comes into the public domain has a botched investigation and the victims are accused of lying, threatened if they do not recant their story, and/or mysteriously die or 'commit suicide'. The abusers are portrayed as victims and are rarely ever prosecuted.
It's time for a massive takedown...

FUD people.
I know "fake news" is getting us all worked up right now, but

Study: https://web.stanford.edu/~gent...
Like the "Russia hacked the election" story the original threat being discussed was specifically hacking of electronic voting machines. When that was proved ridiculous, the phrase was re-framed to something more vague, saying that Russia "manipulated" the results by media...you know, exactly like the Martin Sheen "dump Trump" video attempted to do (and failed). https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re:Today satire requires Marxism
The best satire today is simply to publish official communications verbatim. Some good examples are:
McSweeneys "My very good black history month tribute to some of the most tremendous black people"
The politicians are writing the material. The satirists just need to point out how rediculous it is by republishing it.

Re:Sites offering freedom will trend
You're biased, the right is just the same and get insulted very easily.
No, I'm seeing the reality of what the left has been moving towards for the last 20 years. It's the same reason so many other people have dropped from the left moving either towards the center or right. It's the same type of crap that progressives have been pulling against anyone who don't subscribe to the prevailing groupthink. Google those names I listed above, see who are trying to stop them from speaking. It's not the right jumping up and down and burning shit, threatening people or doxing them either. Those on the right may take offense, but that's where it actually ends.
Many right wingers would just immediately stop the conversation and cry about how leftists are shutting them up.
And yet here we are having a discussion on something. Truth to a point? It is the left who are trying to shut down their speech. You notice what went on in Berkeley last night? Got those lovely antifa and marxist-anarchists destroying shit and all those anti-milo protesters right out there, cheering them on. How about the no platforming? Remember when the courts ruled that universities can't use security fees to stifle freedom of speech? That was because leftist universities would charge conservative speakers $20k-30k for "security" to stop them from speaking. When you get bored, watch this. And remember, that those are leftists attempting to silence dissenting opinions with violence and it didn't start last night, or last week.
The left need to get their shit in order.

Re:Censor all white-nationalist hate speech now
Citation needed.
Every single talk that Milo has given on his tour is up on Youtube in it's entirety. Every single one.
Here I'll help you out
.. please provide a few examples ... I'm sure if he's a "serial outer" who is trans-phobic and wants to promote hate against trans people then you can easily find some examples from any number of his videos. There are only two things that come to mind that even remotely come close to being in the same ballpark as what you describe.
The first are cases where University professors have abused their authority by threatening their students with poor grades for having the wrong political opinions. Here is an example.
And I can think of one example involving a trans student, and in that case Milo's accusation was that this person was not genuinely trans but instead was abusing both the law and University policy by threatening legal action if they did not allow them access to the girl's change-room. For a bit of perspective: my closest friend, former business partner and computer programming mentor came out as a trans woman 2 or 3 years ago and today gets hit on by straight men because she "passes" easily as a woman. A few years ago she was a 240lbs hairy fat guy, and today is ~150lbs and looks like a hot chick. It wasn't easy. The transition was long and arduous but she made the effort to transform herself into the woman that she knew inside that she is. And today other women accept her as female because she makes every effort to live her life as a woman. The person Milo was calling out, from what I remember, was making no attempt to transition. It looked like a guy in a dress and from the point of view of the female students it appeared to be a guy trying to abuse the system to get access to the girl's change-room. Even if we give them every benefit of the doubt and assume that they had not yet began hormone therapy and had just recently decided to transition, it is still inaccurate to call Milo an "outer" as this person had already "outed" themself and created a spectacle by threatening legal action against the University before making any sort of reasonable attempt to transition and become accepted by the other female students as a trans-woman.
If there are other examples that I am missing of "serial outing" then please by all means, they should be easy to find.

Explain the difference to me. I'm having a hard time seeing the difference,
I don't have a bone in this fight being politically independent (though I will register with a party if I feel like it will help my representation, and I consider myself a conservative moderate who believes that climate change is accurate science). And I have never belong to or participated with any alt-right extremist or racist group.
I do consider the censorship taking place along with the violence by left groups as completely reprehensible. Trump supporters have been been beaten, sucker punched, and pepper sprayed on a daily basis. Videos of all of it can be seen on youtube. This violence against Milo or other Trump supporters I consider to be blatant facism by the left.

Censor all white-nationalist hate speech now
As has been widely repeated by good, left-thinking SJWs, Milo Yiannopoulos is a white nationalist alt-righter.
Here is a sample of his Nazi-inspired hate speech that must be banned with heroic acts of social-justice violence from all college campuses and internet forums:
"âoeAnd you shouldnâ(TM)t give a sh*t about skin color, you shouldnâ(TM)t give a shit about sexuality, you shouldnâ(TM)t give a sh*t about gender, and you should be deeply suspicious of the people who do,â he concluded."

Re:Probably should have focused more
They are not wrong. It shows their focus is not on software/tech but on feelings. Running a business is not about feelings. It is about getting shit done and showing responsibility for your promises to your customers. Once you decided to go down that route you have immediately alienated at least 50% of your potential. Your customers are thinking 'hey what about the 50 things you promised me and you just chased of one of your best talent?'
They showed they are willing to go after one of the founders of the company just to make a point over something that looked rather petty from the outside. Lets just say it is not on the top of my list of places to try to go and work. I can get that sort of abuse from somewhere else and no in a public forum. You are not going to attract anyone who has even an inkling that you may go after them for something else petty. Think back on everything you have ever put on the net, worked for, or people you have associated with. Consider it fair game to these people. They will and do take things out of context. They can even leave it in context if they do not like what you are doing. You will attract other people who want to fight social causes. That can work at a job like this. However, getting software written rarely has anything to do with social justice.
I have written many thousands of lines of code. At *no* point in my career did I think 'how will this affect the LBGTQ community?'. It just does not come up. Yet mozilla as a business decided it needed to come up. It was a distraction and a detriment to anyone who has been bullied before in life. They see the people doing that to the top guys and they are little peons they are not going to opt in for that sort of abuse. Also any that are in the company, those who feel they are next will leave. They may not even speak up. But they are afraid to. You, in the end game, will end up with an echo chamber of people making grandiose promises and no way to execute because they are too distracted by petty things and have chased off anyone who decents to your opinion.
You think the 'alt-right' is something to be mocked. Maybe it is. I see it as a bunch of people who are tired of their opinions being silenced and with no other way to get things done than to shut up and vote. They are enjoying the hell out of the epic meltdown going on. Why? Because for the past few years they have been gaslighted and told they are irrelevant by a bunch of whiny narcissists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re: Paging Dr. Faustus
If you look at the history of the Vikings, you will notice an odd naming of Greenland
The Greenland ice sheet is 100,000 years old, so it was there when the Vikings visited it. The Vikings did find some green parts along the edges, but these are green today as well. See this documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Funny since we also have evidence (f.e https://news.slashdot.org/comm...) that directly contradicts that. Guess it's really only 100,000 years old if you accept evolutionary theory over reality, and the purposeful redesign of geological information the late 1800's and early 1900's to better position evolution as reality, versus the known historic records that directly contradict purported science.

Re:Aren't 32-bit devices off support anyway...?
What we're looking at here is Apple slowly phasing out the last remnants of sales to old devices. It has been impossible for over a year to release new software targeted at people with old devices through the App Store, and it is about to become impossible to sell them new copies of software that was previously released.
This is what gets me about the Apple model (I'm an iPad Mini user -- non-retina) -- the walled garden does an awful lot to preserve the security of the device, but they then brick us old users up in a tiny corner when us and the devices we bought are of no interest to them. If they want to rent us iPads, rent us them. Don't sell them to us then make them useless when the hardware is still working perfectly well.

But not in Sydney
I just came back from a business trip in Sydney, and the thing I noticed most of all besides the Ibis birds was the amount of people smoking, everywhere. People on the sidewalks, taxi drivers waiting on a fare, people getting out of the train station hanging out in Wynyard Park. I applaud this well meaning attempt to curb smoking, but the reality for me seems to be that its one of those laws that the police only enforce if its convenient for them.

Yes, you could "easily" argue that, but you would be factually wrong. The photos I saw were taken within 5 minutes of the exact same time on their respective inauguration day.
I'll admit the possibility that the crowds were smaller if you admit the possibility that time stamps can be faked.
many people don't know what to believe.
This is by design. Again, you have to remember which power structure is ascendant in an age when "many people don't know what to believe". It is not a coincidence and it is not accidental.
Agreed, it is not accidental. Is it the dying throws of a corrupt disease in the process of being purged or is it the overthrow of an generally good government?
Right now I'm leaning towards Trump because I've yet to personally meet a violent, irrational Trump supporter

Re:The classified rules dating from 2013
The press in general pretty much abdicated it's job for the past 8 years.
8 years? Where were they when Bush and his flunkies were going around uttering the words Iraq and terrorism in the same sentence?
The point really is the press is part of the problem BECAUSE they've picked sides.
If the problem was really they have picked sides it would still leave a halfway useful result.
My personal view the time machine thing in Tomorrowland is a fitting analogy of the press. Not only are they stupid, lazy and bias they persistently deliberately seek to amplify negative energy, stoke controversy and fear for no reason other than self-enrichment. They have essentially devolved into a band of professional trolls.
What I especially love are polls routinely reported on showing what everyone thinks about "terrorism" and shit... gee golly gosh with 24x7x365 coverage of terror this and terror that where on earth would anyone get such ideas? They seem to be actively trying to close their own feedback loops.
You know those clips where folk like Mr. O says what he is "really" thinking...

Re:About
And extra douchey on your part to insult those people doing the hard labor that keeps the wheels of the economy turning. I hope someday Mike Rowe finds you and gives you a coal tar and raw sewage enema.
You're the one being a douche here because you're totally (and deliberately?) misinterpreting what I'm saying. And actually I'm glad you mentioned Mike Rowe because, unlike you, he actually has a level head about this. The Mike Rowe jobs tend to pay much more than walmart. In fact everything I've said is fully consistent with what Mike Rowe says.
https://www.ted.com/talks/mike...
Take for example, some garbage men make about $50k/year, some as high as $60k/year, with the median being about $34k/year. The problem is, few people want the stigma of being a garbage man. But in truth, I'd much rather be a garbage man than work at walmart or mcdonalds. Why? Well, with those kinds of jobs you're stuck in one place, doing the same shit over and over again, while dealing with asshole customers that look down their nose at you. Garbage men meanwhile get to drive around town much the same as a trucker would, and it's not quite as monotonous as being a trucker.
Oh, and guess who narrated this commercial?

Not all jobs at walmart or mcdonalds suck by the way, just the crappy floor jobs that you see people working as a customer.
