    >Hmmm... Let's list the first nation with an emission test for vehicles. (California 1966, USA 1968)
How about the first legislation on auto manufacturers for fuel efficiency (USA 1975)

Which is of course false, because the vehicles yankee use are NOT subject to any efficiency regulations, because they are classified as pickup trucks over 6000lbs curb weight. So the Hummers, Tahoes and the like are free to use a gallon of petrol every ten miles or so and you actually get a big tax refund if you buy this kind of monster car instead of a smaller one. Driving a Geo Metro you would get executed by means of an F150-overrun for being a godless, tree-hugging communist traitor.

In fact there are no modern diesel cars in the USA, because the ugly americans don't even de-sulphurize their diesel fuel and modern small displacement common-rail injection turbodiesel engines simply do not tolerate contaminated fuel. American big nose 18-wheeler trucks with their 1950's era breathing engines spew the most vicious sulphuric-acid-laden soot you can imagine, destroying forests left and right.

In Europe people are still used to walk or ride the bicycle when travelling short distances, like grocery six blocks away. Public transport also exists. Cars are smaller and vastly more efficient.

Also, the lack of high-speed rail connections makes domestic US airline traffic one of the worst source of pollution in the world, destroying the ozone layer very efficiently. Why there is no shinkanzen from LA to NY and TGV link from Chigaco to Florida?

That's why I don't like the godless direction America took under the liberal haze that set in during the 70s and the Clinton era. Fortunately, America is back on track. We have a christian president who supports good clean morals. Do you know how long it's been since we've had that? 1988. It took twelve years to get the country back to its moral roots as the founding fathers intended. In 2008, we're going to have to keep the momentum going because all change for the positive is painful and too many people are losing faith right now. But all public education, government, law, civic amenities and broadcasting should be absolutely free of religion. That means no chapels in public hospitals, no religious dress in schools or public office, no "chastity rings" by students, no preaching by public officials, no tax breaks for religions, no pandering to religion in any way shape or form. In short, religious should be able practice what they like but to not expect any special perks or rights from the state. Has anyone ever noticed that extreme, opposing views often read the same way? Banning religion in public is just as bad as forcing it on the public.I don't agree with striking religion from historical or philosophical school texts any more than I agree with striking evolution from scientific school texts. Nor do I agree with dress-codes that target or exclude sub-groups within an organization. While I don't agree with tax-breaks based solely on religion, I see nothing wrong with giving charities a tax-break.

I suppose religion does mean different things to different people. I'm sure several people see religion as an affront to their secular lives while others see it as a safe harbor in a godless world. Myself, I see it more as a group of people with common values, morals, and beliefs. I've heard people people argue that I'm confusing religion with community. However, I'd much rather deal with religious leaders damming me to hell than community leaders imprisoning me for disagreeing with them. As well, I'd rather any common values, morals, or beliefs be based on voluntary association, rather than geography.

Retailers in the U.S. are in the red all year up until "Black Friday" -- the day following Thanksgiving. This is mostly due to the existence of multiple religious holidays where gift giving/exchange is encouraged that fall on or around the winter solstice.

The only reason that buying patterns are concentrated around this time of year is precisely because the holiday exists. If christmas had never been, people would still buy gifts for each other. There might be some other gift-giving holiday, or birthdays might have more importance. In fact, it would cause there to be a more even distribution of buying patterns throughout the year. I don't think your statistic of "being in the red" rings true for all retail sectors, but if it did- it would disappear without christmas.

Of course, then one might argue- but christmas is the only reason people give gifts! If that is the case, it is a rather poor view of humanity. It removes the concept of charity and good will from the human as an individual, and moves it to being purely a creation of religion itself. This is one of the core arguments against atheism- that "godless" people are morally bankrupt.

It's because these scummy ticket brokers couldn't unload them for huge profit. One of the reason why ticketmaster won't do anything about the situation is because these brokers ensure that events are sold out which works out in their favor. They don't care about actual fans getting hold of the tickets. They simply want the tickets sold. A friend of a friend worked for one of these outfits. He said they will often throw away handfuls of tickets for events with huge demand rather than lowering the price and unloading them. They simply refuse to create the precedent that you can wait them out to get a good deal. Like you said...all major events now, regardless of the real demand, will have several huge empty sections as a result...I've seen it first hand at every major concert I've seen recently.

You're 100% correct in that Ticket Master couldn't care less because they've sold the ticket. Instead all 6.3 billion people's genetical code will be sequenced and form the basis for world-wide unique personal ID hash values, which then converted to SSH-babble style pseudowords will form your name. E.g. people will have assigned redskin-ish names like "Sitting Bull Stream White Cloud Tilted Tent" or chinese-style names like "Pei Jun Li Xia Bao Wei Gong" as a pronouncible and rememberable resresentation of their 512-bit or so personal ID hash string. There won't be two people with the same name anywhere on Earth, as for a few years we know that even identical twins are slightly different in DNA!

It will be impossible to lie about your name, because desktop DNA machines will be everywhere, just spit into them and in less than 1 minute your unfakeable genetics-based identity will be displayed on the screen. Just seeing your name people will instantly know if you are a girl or a boy, which is a problem with current names in many countires. They will also know if you are white or negro, or blood relative of another name!

I am glad this will happen, because this will provide US-wide consistent personal identification, so murderers cannot trick law enforcement for years living under false names and the unification will be the first step in transforming USA into a unified nation-state, where fedral laws are the same and only law everywhere for any of the 305 million citizens. No need for White House to mess with mandated structure driving licences, DNA based naming will end the current person's registration anarchy in the USA.

Remember, the anarchy of having no centralized citizenship register for USA allowed the godless communist russkies to insert literally hundreds of spy agents under fake american papers and deeply intrude America's science, tech, military and politics circles during the Cold War. On the other hand, USSR with its central registration system proved essentially un-penetratable. Such disparity would be impossible in the DNA-name age!
