So in other words, even if we accepted the notion that it's a Good Thing that Apple control what you can do with your phone, purely for their marketing purposes and their brand image, you've pointed out that, as with the example of your friend, it doesn't actually work, anyway.
Ummmm, no. If, as he states, his friend has themes loaded on his iPhone, then it has to have been jailbroken. Apple rationalization for locking down the iPhone is to prevent just this scenario. They don't want to have to provide support for all of the devices out there that get hosed by people loading every piece of poorly coded crap software and theme out here. Having said that, I admit that I DO own an iPhone and yes it is jailbroken. I'm just careful about what I load on it.
The batteries in the hybrid cars don't seem to need replacing every two years...
No, IIRC it's more like every 5 years at an approximate cost of $5000.00 US per. (Labour extra.) Also, I haven't yet heard anybody coming up with a plan for disposal of all of these batteries once electric cars become more common.
I get lots of calls for Windows-related issues, very few for Mac OSX and nearly zero for Linux. This is definite proof that linux has less issues than OS X and far fewer than Windows. Discussion closed!
Discussion opened! You state that the number of calls you get are for, in ascending order, Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows. Could it be that the quantity of support calls by OS is directly proportional the install base?
Isn't that the chair that guy uses in Grandma's Boy? The dork that pretends to be a robot... *sigh*... puts the word GEEK to shame. What really puts the word Geek to shame is that you actually have watched Grandma's Boy.
I couldn't agree more regarding the state of modern science fiction. Entirely too many knock-offs and sub-par imitators. Having said that, one author I recently discovered that I highly recommend is Robert J. Sawyer. Rollback and Calculating God in particular were both good reads.
IIRC the original Mars Rovers weren't even using 386 chips. They were running on Z80 processors.
You're right. I stand corrected. My point obviously being that Wolfenstein 3D was really the first FPS. (At least that I am aware of.)
How many FPS's are there? They all copied Castle Wolfenstein.
Fixed that for ya.

No, but you might find a pair of ducks.
And of course, there is absolutely zero possibility it is a software issue. http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=10/02/02/1458230
Whoosh
A windup toy is not a robot, no more than a top is a robot.
No, that would be a clank.
Meh. It's all in the delivery. Some people can tell a joke.....

And last I checked, Alaska IS part of America.
Yes but a previous poster was correct. If you purchase and try to play a new game, it will insist on upgrading your console before the game will play.

News for canadians, eh? Stuff that goes with your gravy fries.
That would be cheese curds.
Where are my mod points when I need them?
Mobile device + Linux

This is Slashdot after all.
Damn. And on a day when I don't have any mod points. Made me spit coffee out of my nose.

Luxury.
Best sig ever.
They just don't make trolls like they used to.
I almost expected this entire topic to be filled with nothing but AC posts.
