What's the point of being in a fantasy world with millions of other people if you can't communicate effectively with any of them?
And yes, I know there are keyboard attachments of various kinds for the consoles, but have any of them ever really taken off? They defeat the purpose of the console.
..but just because a program is open source does not mean it needs to be portable. Most open source projects are, but it's not a definitional requirement. I don't like the license scheme or the way MS handles this, but as long as the source code is given, it's technically "open source"
I think the real question is: why are these people not working in research institutes? Image recognition is a hard problem. It's baffling that someone with that kind of talent would be working for spammers instead of in a tenured university position.
SGI, though one of the icons of the past, has had to suffer from people at the top in late 90s who had really not much vision as to how the PC world was going to pan out over the next few years and was really caught unaware when OpenGL went the way of the doodoo.
I can assure you that the doodoo is very much stil around, and in fact fills the pants of every non-toilet trained infant and toddler around the world.
no, an unnatural language processing course (i.e. compiler design) is appropriate for a junior level degree. natural language is a very complex topic. if every third year CS student was cranking out a program that could pass the Turing test then.. well, then we'd have a much higher standard for CS students than we currently have.
heh okay.. now i don't feel too lame for not having gone through a natural language processing course in my undergrad degree from a state school. i think i'll check that course out, it sounds fun.
if taking 1xx to mean "freshman", 2xx to mean "sophomore" and 3xx to mean "junior", as is the case in most universities, then apparently the course on natural language processing is a junior level (second year) course.. wow, I really didn't know they got THAT much better of an education there.
I can deal with not having manned space flight for a few years while we get something more viable going. The shuttle is a piece of crap that has to be rebuilt after every mission. Instead of spending a ridiculous amount of money extending the life of a half-assed "reusable" space vehicle that costs more to rebuild every mission than a disposable capsule, we should put that money toward the R&D of a truly viable space vehicle, even if it takes years (or even a decade) to develop it.
That game is still around? I remember the 2002 E3 where they were trying to give away the game with a 30 day pass.. Most people walked right past them like they were canvassers for Greenpeace. I was one of the few who took one, and I was bored with the game before an hour had passed.
She only said the "not part of the curriculum" and "no litmus test" stuff after there was a backlash against her mentioning it in the debates. During the debate, her exact wording was: "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."
Do you honestly think that we should be teaching creationism in science class?
As long as they teach about the Flying Spaghetti Monster at the same time, I'm okay with them teaching Creationism. Maybe then they'll realize how ridiculous their religious dogma is.
Isn't one of the main advantages of LEDs the fact that you almost never need to replace them, which means (in theory) that they will rarely be discarded? And if they are rarely discarded, then isn't the disposal issue a moot point?
Sorry for pointing out it all seems very suspicious for a country with so many problems to focus all their efforts on "space travel" and "nuclear power".
why not (gasp!) improve your infrastructure, rather than treating your customers like cattle? If you (by you I mean Comcast) don't do it, your competitors will.
The ballistic missiles? Nah, they're just launch vehicles. And the nuclear material? It's just for power plants. We really need these things, since we have so little power-generating natural resources, and such a booming commercial satellite launching industry.
I can't believe the shite they made out of the Phantasy Star franchise. They took one of the best RPG worlds and turned it into a series of mediocre action games. I want a real sequel or prequel to the original series, from the same creative leadership.
Maybe its the same as those damn leaflets that keep appearing on my windshield in the eyes of the law? I wonder how far that goes.. i.e. Can I attach an EMP pulse generator with a wireless trigger near a cop's ignition system?
Heh, I can hear it now..
"ELLL EFF GEE! ELL EFF GEE!! LVL 16 WIZARD! WHY DOES NOBODY WANT TO GROUP WITH ME??:
It's annoying enough on the screen, but can you imagine having to hear that shit all day?
i wonder if the system of ant behaviors is Turing complete? someone should try building an ant calculator
this was supposed to be a reply to the parent
keyboard.

aren't these guys in jail?

damn right! Seriously, why is it that I can't find a sub-notebook that doesn't charge MS tax for anything beyond the low end model?

How do we even really know if that was anonymous? Oh wait..
nah, nevermind
when you've moved on to making chairdogs

so why not set up a cron job to do it at 2 am, when he won't notice the bandwidth?
I'd say the main problem was the automated voice while you're trying to take a shit.
