  1. Re:No you didn't. on Geek Wins Copyright Lawsuit Against Corporation · · Score: 1

We as a society (U.S. point of view, here) have agreed that copyright law is necessary to support copyright owners and their desire to pursue their creative outlets full time as well as part time.

Just because someone enjoys doing something is not a reason they should be excluded from remuneration for their efforts. To reduce potential sales is considered causing a loss in many judicial systems and piracy falls under this reasoning. At the extreme end of the argument, copying without permission or compensation is analogous to enslavement.

Unfortunately we seem to sometimes use situational ethics or morals dependent on a combination of the value the copyright owner places on their work and the value the consumer places on the work mixed with available consumer purchasing ability (money or credit on hand). The extent to which these values conflict can make the decision to copy without compensation more or less "situational".

You further degrade your "moral position" by denying any responsibility you have for your own words.
(Not all cultures agree that the burden of understanding lies solely with the listener.)
    QFT:

...Any negative intentions you read in my post are put there by you.

(And, yes, I understand the subtle implications of posting this here rather than sending you a private email or message. I will state that my intentions are not to take sides, but to merely educate all who read this posting as to possible results of word choices. However, I will also concede that it is possible to interpret this posting as an attack on you personally, your point of view, etc.....)

I leave each of you with words of wisdom:

No, the problem is that evolution is given undue weight in the biological sciences and is often represented as fact when it is still just theory. An additional problem (compounded by misrepresenting evolution as fact instead of theory) is that it has been allowed to supplant the position of "creator" by those who practice the humanist religion.

The idea behind it is that specialized "application" processors in architected groups will comprise an "operating system" of sorts married with hardware that will be quicker than a generalized computer with a monolithic OS.
