I have read scores of stories in the Daily Mail over the years (linked from Drudge), and I'm stunned at your opinion. Pro-Christian? On its site right now, there are no fewer than half a dozen headlined stories focusing on the "pro-Christian" topic of boobs--one of them on male boobs. It's like that every day. The site is almost pornographic. I try to ignore the naughty links on the side, and as a follower of the Bible personally, I'm a little ashamed to admit that I read stories there. The site, over all, definitely promotes an atheistic/humanistic philosophy over a Christian one. If the Daily Mail is what passes for "pro-Christian" in the UK media, the rest must have gone to hell, literally. I know it's not really that bad, but you calling the Daily Mail conservative is like Palestinians calling Bill Clinton a Zionist.

The Bible doesn't reveal much about the appearance or mental acuity of Adam, the first human. The fact that God holds him morally accountable for sin, however, indicates that he had a soul/spirit, which at least sets him apart from the animal kingdom. (The "serpent," who apparently could stand up before he was cursed, is universally interpreted to be Satan.)

It seems that Noah, who built a pretty complex ark (although with God's specific building instructions), probably was a fully "modern" human.

The Creationist position that I've heard is that Neanderthals are simply a peculiar kind of human. Some say possibly a "sub-species," Homo sapiens neanderthalensis, which is how they were classified by scientists in the 1960s.

Since Neanderthal fossils are all post-Flood, we could say that Adam, Noah, and other humans were pre-Neanderthal*. And likely Homo sapien.

The past 200 years or so of biology ought to have taught us that, contrary to what seemed evident to the ancients, there isn't any such essential difference.

On the contrary, biology has served to buttress what was evident to the ancients (as well as to contemporary folk). We moderns have dug down to the tiniest elements of living organisms and yet still fail to identify the material that separates the living from the non-living. The ancients are calling "checkmate."

Organic matter is just a form of organization of inorganic manner.

That was a sneaky sleight of hand. We were talking about living vs. non-living, and your argument shifted to an issue that no one disputes, pertaining to organic vs. inorganic material. Carbon, as we know, can be of a human or a rock. That's irrelevant.

If the difference between living and living were only a matter of "form," pray tell, what is the difference in form or composition of a living animal and a dead animal? The answer is beyond the reach of biological science (materialism). The answer is: One retains the breath/spirit that was divinely given to it; the other doesn't.

A strong (not a-gnostic) denial of this tenet is itself a matter of faith, since scientific investigation so far forces our eyes to the supernatural. We're down to the "bare metal," and the secret isn't visible to us. "200 years of biology," and all we've got is... TONS and TONS of evidence for an Intelligent Designer.

Not to be too hokey or trite, but truly, the answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind, or spirit (Hebrew: ruach; Greek: pneuma; Latin: spiritus), the breath of God (Gen. 2:7).

Getting back on subject... We were asking if these viruses are alive. Are sperm alive?

What organism really is autonomous? The irony is that humans cannot survive without millions of organisms leeching off of us (bacteria). The host sometimes needs the parasites as much as the parasites need the host. And look at the broader ecosystem. Everything is interdependent.

Moreover, is it really necessary that everything be categorized, as in nested folders? The new organizational paradigm is tagging. Science should learn from the Internet. :)

Generally speaking, no, but why abuse God's grace? Paul implores us not to frolick in sin just because grace abounds. He reminds us that the Law defines what sin is. Grace covers us when we fall short, but it is not a license to sin freely, and it certainly does not change the definition of sin.

You can be certain that whatever our loving Father has told His children (including grafted-in Gentiles) to do, or not to do, will be for a blessing to them who trust and obey. So says the Word of God.

  20. Peter's Dream on Louisiana Passes Intelligent Design Law · · Score: 2, Interesting

I can't think of a time when a narrative dream in the Bible was ever literal. Think about Joseph's dream, the dreams of the cupbearer and baker, Pharaoh's dream, and Nebuchadnezzar's dream. This too is an ALLEGORY. Peter, the one who experienced the dream, clearly explains that the message God sent to him was to be understood allegorically.

Please notice that the sheet with unclean animals was let down THREE times (10:16). Then...

19 While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, THREE MEN are looking for you. 20 So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."

The Spirit sent three men just as He had sent the sheet down three times. The focus is on people -- three Gentiles -- not food.

I think this is the New Covenant doctrine that is being illustrated:

Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one. - Romans 3:29-30

Remember what God said: Do not think that the Son came to abolish the Law. (Mat. 5:17) Not one jot (iota) or tittle has passed away.
