Just before I disabled my FB account I posted a goodbye message on my wall for people to PM me if they wanted my contact info. It came as no surprise that nobody did. I'm just as unpopular to my "Facebook friends" as they are to me. I don't miss it one little bit and get a real kick out of watching people look at me with bewilderment when I tell them I'm not on Facebook. This world is one EMP pulse away from complete chaos.

That's what I understand. Previously they were able to gain access to the stored messages under a General Warrant which is much easier to obtain. Now an Intercept Warrant would be required and is covered under Canada's privacy laws and is much more difficult to obtain. There was also some discussion that Telus would be discriminated against as not all other telecom's "store" sms messages which is the reason they were able to use the general warrants to begin with before this ruling. Cops are cops. They're trying to do their jobs and are using the tools in the toolbox. I'm glad the courts are seeing things for what they are. Kinda refreshing, actually.

It was Facebook that really got my Mom into this whole "Computer thing". Since she passed, we have used her account as a hub for pictures, gatherings, and contacts. I see the point of eventually deleting her account, but it was surprising how many images and data that was singularly relevant to my family that was on her account that isn't recorded elsewhere... I would never have known the depth of her digital involvement if I didn't review her account. It's been priceless for my family. My two cents.

Use your imagination, don't be a tool. What the hell do you think I mean? False passport, student Visa, smuggled in on a container ship, or any one of the other million ways it's been done since there's the dawn of time. As for getting into the US, maybe drive right on through Peace Arch crossing for a Costco shop or a "gas and milk" run like the thousands that do it every day and never come back.

Not sure I agree, I think that as you are the sole caretaker of your body (in this reality or any other diminished capacity), the decisions you make NOW are still your own in regards to its (your body's) disposition. I'd like to think that what means something to me NOW as a conscious being trumps what someone else might think my recessed mind may perceive if I'm in a vegetative state. I'm willing to speculate that we'll see some serious advancements in medical treatments of cancer, viral infections, and spinal injury/nerve treatments in my lifetime, but for people out there suffering major ailments, every day must seem a lifetime.
