It is true that Square/Enix are the vendors and MMOG players are customers. They could certainly improve relations with their customers by listening to their customers and trying to accomodate as many requests as possible.
However, at the point where Square/Enix chooses to ignore a customer complaint, it is that customer's choice at that point whether they wish to accept those terms of service. Unlike the phone company, The Sims Online is not a monopoly. If the customer doesn't like the product/service, and doesn't like the response of the vendor, then the customer is not compelled to continue using the service. Anyone who believes otherwise is no longer a consumer - they are an addict.
Maybe I don't know much about the industry, but wouldn't it make more sense to move stuff *to* Austin where the cost of living, including office rent and utilities, is way cheaper than California?
The Boston Fox affiliate runs regular investigative reports on how the state is failing to collect on its taxes and chases down people who are slipping through the loopholes. Then the intrepid reporter gets some representative of the DOR on camera and starts grilling them about why the Department isn't doing its job. I wonder what the net effect of that is?

In the West we have now taken the concept of individual freedom to the level of infringing on other people's individual freedoms. It boils down to "My rights are more important than your rights. What I want is more important than what you want."
Thus we have people jamming cell phones because they think their hate of people talking on cell phones is more important than the need of other people to talk on cell phones.
However, this hate is created by people who think their right to talk on their cell phones in an inappropriate manner (ie bellowing at a restaurant or talking during a movie) is more important than other people's rights to an enjoyable experience.
As a top IT executive for a fortune 50, I spend a lot of time on global conference calls. I would be extremely annoyed, and would consider it an attack on both me personally, and me professionally (and, by extension, my company) if someone were to jam my cellular during an important conference call.
The courts would see it my way, as well. As would the service provider - after all, by interrupting their service, you are proving malicious intent to disrupt services, in much teh same manner as you would be if you cut the power lines to my building.
I recommend you not do this.
Oh, all the lawyers just got a woody. Another lawsuit in the making.
Poor people whine. Rich people call their lawyers.
Silly me, this is slashdot. Last bastion of Leninist ideology where the belief that there should be no private property and everything should be free for the taking is held as a sacred truth.
This has to be one of the more idiotic statements I've read here. Why this got modded as "Insteresting" I'll never know.
RFID tags will be able to track you speeding without the need for police presecence. The travel differential between two fixed points can be tracked and if it is less than the time it would legally take to travel between those two points, you get a speeding ticket in the mail.
And if you travel through five towns, you get five tickets.
Some things I would like to see (in addition to what's already been said):
- This isn't a gameplay item, but I would love more stations and longer music loops. The music loops would be dependent on what point in the game you were, so when you were 80% of the way through the game you'd still hear more new music.
- Some side missions (like the Love Fist missions) that are humorous.
- Multiple endings based on divergent points in the game - the choice you make affects the ending you get.
- It seems to me that when you're on a rampage sometimes the spawning goes down the tube. For some rampages I just sat there as the clock ticked down and nothing spawned for me to shoot at.
- If set in modern times, I wouldn't mind something making fun of rice-boys and SUV's.
- get rid of that annoying "use a weapon on a rampage and lose it afterwards" thing
Because of its ability to climb stairs, drive over rough terrian and raise a person to a standing height, it also eliminates the need for some house modifications that need to be made when someone becomes wheelchair-bound, such as building a wheelchair ramp into the house or creating a lift between floors.
Or perhaps you can be educated to communicate better.
When you go to your doctor's office, does your doctor tell you the medical term or the layman's term for your ailment? If your doctor used the medical term and you had to ask what they meant, could your doctor then call you a lUser and send you back to the waiting room?
Do you want your tax accountant to throw acturial terms at you or just get you the maximum possible tax refund?
Just because you've chosen to specialize in a particular field doesn't mean everyone else has to.
p2p users have been asking for years to compensate the artists directly for the music they download, to no avail. The huge success of iTunes indicates people want to pay for the music they download, and the RIAA simply ignored their requests for years. I want to put my money in James Hetfield's pocket, not Hilary Rosen's.
1. They are far better trained drivers than the average civilian.
2. They drive highly maintained vehicles that are not stock but specially produced for police use.
3. An officer doing surveillance may need to roll a stop or something similar in order to keep up with the person they are pursuing. They are often running plates before pulling someone over to see if they have probable cause to make a stop. If they are on the way to an arrest, they will probably not have the sirens or lights going, because they would lose the element of surprise. They are trained to do this without causing danger.
In some states, troopers are allowed to speed when on regular patrol because it enables the state to keep the highways patrolled with less officers.
1. You are obviously working on something, or have a concept that you're trying to shop around. This patent expires relatively quickly, 18-24 months. (Kind of like a conditional patent).
2. You move the item (product or service) towards financial reality, either by producing the product or offering the service. Once this step is complete (or about to be completed) you are granted the full patent. Fail to develop the concept you patented, and it becomes Fair Use.
If you've spent a bunch of time and money building a character and someone hacks the server and you lose that work, it's unfortunate, but it shouldn't be illegal. This would be like me suing Sony if my memory card failed after 60 hours of playing Final Fantasy and I had to start over again (which has happened to me).
Just to be argumenative I'll say that the main problem with RedHat (and Linux) recently is the effort to dumb it down for the folks out there who can't do anything but run Minesweeper on their XP box.
Linux should not be Windows or MacOS. If users want a dumbed down OS let them use Windows or MacOS. At most let them use a retarded distro like Lindows.
And as long as people continue to have this attitude, Linux will be nothing more than a niche system used by 5% of the total desktop PC market.
One of the things you notice if you watch G4TV is the complete X-Box bias they have on any review shows.
If a game is multi-platform, its X-Box version is the one that is reviewed. For instance, the Madden release reviewed is the XBox one.
The XBox only games that are reviewed are the best that are available for Xbox, and always given glowing reviews.
The PS2 games reviewed are the dogs of the platform, and thus given middling to panning reviews.

and save doctor's asses every day by not carrying out the mistakes they make, yet only get paid 1/2 to 1/4 what they make.
LOL! LOL!

If the IE shortcut gets deleted? "My internet is gone."
You say that like it's a bad thing if these folks can't get on the internet any more.
So far, AFAIK, they've got an airport, an aircraft carrier, a mountain, and several turnpikes named after him.

My girlfriend is an RN at a US hospital and says cell phones interfere with wireless telemetry units as well.
A minimum level of glaring and gruff commands will be needed.

It sucks. Deal with it and move on.
That's a good one.
