They have been replacing RROD-ed Xbox360 left and right since releasing it to the market, and it took them 2 to 3 generation for them to solve overheating problem. So expect the cover problem to be resolved at least sometime next year
It would be trivially easy to add USB/Bluetooth removable storage to the little rodent sufficient to hold all the configuration settings, drivers and whatnot that you'd even need.
The Razer Synapse 1.0 actually did that. All (or almost all) Razer mice has onboard memory that used to be use for storing synapse settings. They moved it to the cloud on synapse 2.0 upgrade
Well, when it comes to that, let us see which smartphone will people buy. A shiny rounded rectangle that can't make a call and connect to the Internet via wifi, or a blocky one that actually usable for making calls and browsing the web
On second thought, maybe we should swap out apple for IBM here too. Business sales are far more established, less trendy, and without looking up statistics on it, are a lot more $ than consumer sales.
Yes, because when we do look at statistic, as of now, Apple worth much more than IBM. This is why Apple purposely leave enterprise market, since milking pocket moneys over millions of fanboys is more profitable.
I've had a Microsoft mouse for almost 20 years! It's the most reliable product of theirs that I've ever had!
Given that the mouse is a rebranded Logitech, you could've had the same thing w/o the Microsoft tag on it, and it would have likely lasted just as long...
My Mobile 4000 mouse and Sidewinder X4 keyboard is definitely not a rebranded logitech
All an iPod is is an over priced flash drive. Who actually uses it for anything other than a music storage device? Most of the time you either "dock" it or you just use your smart phone instead when you're on the go.
An iPod touch is an iPhone without the phone. Sorry, but none of my flash drives can run iPhone apps or have a camera or connect to Wifi.
AFAIk the ipod touch can't be used as flash drive, or at least, not as easy as one. Please pick another model for flash drive comparison
Pretty much, yeah! The difference is that Apple users are not paying for this app. It comes with the new iPhone. I don't think there were many in line waiting overnight to purchase the new iPhone5 simply because it had a map app. They were there to get the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer.
So, we're talking canonical/KDE/Gnome instead of Microsoft?
That would've locked them out of turn-by-turn for another five years.
Do Google have monopoly on map data? My HTC Desire Z has map and turn by turn navigation by TomTom that works out of the box
Funny, so does iOS 6 (Have TomTom data that is) and apparently it sucks.
TomTom has been in the mapping business since 1991, and their data and products has been used by hundreds of hundreds of their customer. I think, perhaps the data is not the source the problem, but Apple just did a lousy job implementing them
I don't use Apple products, so maybe this isn't as surprising to others as it is to me, but why the fuck can't an app that ran fine on iOS 5 also run fine on iOS 6? Why is "a little trickery" needed, and even then there are still issues?
Furthermore, wasn't iOS 5 only released to the public in October of 2011? I mean, that wasn't even a single year ago! Is smartphone and tablet crap shat out so rapidly that backward compatibility can't be retained even after only 11 months?
How is it that Microsoft, who aren't exactly known for creating the most robust software, can maintain backward compatibility with operating systems released decades ago, but Apple (also a very well-funded company, with access to basically any talent they need) can't even manage to retain compatibility with a system released not even a year ago?
this has nothing to do with backward compatibility, this is a solid case of "I don't want to pay you for features that my customers need, and I can't provide decent replacement, but my users will buy my stuff anyway, so why bother"
And if you used Android, you can set it up so that you get Edge battery life at 3G speeds, by automating switching back and forth.
I was about to ask about this.
I was wondering why you'd want 3G running all the time. if it sucks so much battery life. It's not like it's needed to check for new email or incoming text messages. I don't need 3G for a voice call. Automatic switching seems to be a no-brainer.
For me, the android switching process actually drains more power compared to locking the phone on 3G only. I think it has something to do with how shitty cell connection in Indonesia, so YMMV
This is because the original iPhone used EDGE. If you force future version off the 3G network, talk time beats the first generation iPhone easily.
Yes, but the battery capacity bump between the OG iphone and iphone 5 should also be put into consideration. My point is smartphone manufacturers in general believe that their customers will tolerate shorter operation time in return of bigger screens, slimmer body and faster data rate
How about also mentioning devices that already do the same, except that they have about a 100 times more users - iPhones and iPads. And even Windows devices are going the same way. I am tired of this FUD implication that Google can steal all your data while others can't? What Google could do theoretically all other 'cloud' providers could do too, theoretically. How about comparing their actual records?
I think that Google might be in a slightly different position since Amazon and Apple already get money from you from selling their devices and services. Google and Facebook on the other hand, will only get money by selling us (and our data) as a target for their real customers, the advertisers.
No, if we, as natural animals, cause the extinction of another species it is because it was unfit to survive and should be left extinct. Human beings are not outside nature and its methods of determining which species are worthy of survival.
..and I assume that human's ability to bring them back also part of being inside nature and it's process to determine which species are worthy of survival?

Save it inside the mouse?

Microsoft, making software for linux
Let's not forget all the Aussie stories plastered over Slashdot whenever certain "editors" are in charge..
Aussie refers to Australian. Felix is Austrian

Certainly. I think this is their reason in the first place. You guys (US) the criminals, they're the good guys
Now let's hope that he doesn't upgrade his iphone to ios 6

You got the the rst 3/4 right. But this post kinda talks about the hiring spree-let's bother part.
Except they did sell the half baked product first (why bother), got slammed, and went on hiring spree

Just open up a terminal? My grandma is not going to "just open up a terminal". That doesn't count as "trivial to remove", sorry.
Did your grandma install her ubuntu box? No? Then just ask whoever installed it to do it, right after the OS setup process
"Good artists copy, great artists steal. We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas" - Steve Jobs.
Actually, Pablo Picasso. Now think about this quote again.
the "We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas" part is Steve's
And by competition you mean copying.
You just can't admit it.
But not apple, they steal.

That would be OSXXX Dangerous Pussy

It's a newbier version of a newbie bistro :D
So, can I pay that $10 charge using ....bitcoins?
