I also asked about Android, which you completely neglected to answer. There's been heaps of devices from manufacturers that shipped with obsolete software, with upgrades never announced nor delivered.
How many of those are still in use? How's the battery holding up on 3 year old devices after daily charge cycles?
Nope, I did. Even those phone with android 2.3.x can do most of things that 4.1.x can, including NFC and stuff. You're mixing up feature with function. Battery? My N9 need to be daily charged, So does my Onyx 9700. I can get it to last for 2 days if I stick it to edge, but what smartphone uses edge? Even cheaply made chinese androids can get H+. Not much of a difference really
A shared phone numbers or landlines are unlikely attached to a mobile device with cellular connection, which is the main target of whatsapp. I like whatsapp. It's a no frill IM app, not cluttered with stickers and emoticons such as line and kakaotalk
The yesteryear smartphones still do what most of today's smartphones do. It might not play 1080p videos but will do everything else just fine. In fact the only glaring update between today's iPhone and its' yesteryear counterpart is only a row of icons
Let's see. I paid for several Android devices. I paid for numerous apps, books, movies and music on Google Play. I pay for Google Apps. I am a YouTube content producer and partner with a high traffic channel.
That comes out to well over the $2/month that Google is going to start charging for YouTube "premium" content.
Let see, do google deliver the goods that you have paid for? The numerous apps, books, music and movies? Do they deliver the google apps service? Do they provide you with space, interface and content delivery system for your videos?
If so, why are you asking for more services than what you have paid for?
Why in all that is holy would I put something like this on my expensive phone that I rely on for my income? I wouldn't even put it on my old phone out of curiosity.
Something like what? The preview version was clearly aimed for developer, and not ready to be used as a daily driver, they even explicitly tell you that . If you're not planning to develop something for the platform, why the heck would you put it on your phone?
Gotta love how apple zealots can state exactly how wide the "correct" human hand is and what the capabilities the "correct" person who might use a phone are. I guess when you are a member of a cult masquerading as a cell phone company this is exactly the "right" kind of group think to have. No room for natural variation or a difference of opinion. If you don't like it the problem is YOU and certainly not the cult of Apple.
That's not something new. They used to claim that their display has just the perfect amount of pixels for every person on earth, since apparently everyone has the same viewing distance when looking at their phone, anywhere, at any given time
I think Ubuntu Touch refers to the UI/distro created by Canonical for smartphone and tablet. Itcertainly draws some of its' idea from unity. IMHO, unity itself is actually aimed at small screen devices such as netbook
My ideal solution would be an Asus Padfone, preferably the first one, since Padfone 2 lacks keyboard dock, so you'll have enough battery life for all day bluetooth. Then a bluetooth headset such as Jabra Clipper so you won't look like an idiot with a bluetooth headset dangling on your ear all day. The final piece of the kit is Sony Smartwatch. With the smartwatch, you'll be able to see who's calling, read sms and gmail, control media player and many more, while keeping the padfone docked on its' station and stored inside your bag. And the battery life is quite good too. Finally, if you need to be away from your bag, just take out the padfone from the station, and put it in your pocket
Really. With widgets I can perform tasks like changing brightness, wifi setting, looking at calendar very easy and quickly. I can't do that on ipad. Media sharing to almost any kind of app and services is as easy as pressing the share button. I can't do that on ipad
Look at it this way: this news isn't for the anti social neck beard that doesn't want to mingle, but for the anti social neck beard that may want to implement said functions at his work and get paid
More like symantec/McAfee/Avira take away. Windows on it's own is fine. But combined with antivirus software, it's crap.Worse, you can't leave windows box without antivirus, so you're screwed
As part of the evaluation, we spoke to close to a dozen other companies that recently went through the same process, and pretty much got the same response - that the users overwhelmingly refused to have anything to do with a RIM product, and wanted the flashy new iPhone or GIII.
I'd be curious to know where people put the Windows 8 phone in that lineup.
You know, what's funny is that Microsoft's Win7 phone has only partial support on activesync protocol, so I imagine that people might a little bit wary about this on win8 phone as well
We aren't talking about developing games for the PC platform here, but a new console. Whatever is released on this new console may use commodity hardware, and may even be PC-like, but it won't be a PC, and you probably won't be able to just load up PC games under it, anymore than you can play a Mac game on a PC or vice versa. That's sorta the definition of a platform.
The point is, developers/distributors AND the customers seems quite happy with the DRM system currently being employed by Steam, and I think the same system may also be used on Steam on linux or whatever the new platform is, so DRM or openness should not be a problem.

Only if I'm allowed to host web and counter strike servers from my phone

So how do we turn the light off? Move the pot out of the room?

Only Windows 7 has IE 8.
That is a must for my job if I get a netbook and Windows 8 comes with IE 10 so that is a no go. Windows 7 support is a must for me
You can run IE10 on compatibility mode, and it can go down to at least IE7 mode. http://techathlon.com/internet-explorer-10-run-compatibility-mode/ . I think you can even enforce the compatibility mode via GPO
Well, for free, ad-supported service? Yes. More users means more eyes for their ads

The word virus refers to biological viruses, not computer viruses
And this is why we shouldn't be giving the Israelis our military technology.
Giving? As far as I know the Americans are selling the technology.
..And giving israel money at the same time. Now do the math.
I think budhism believe in karma and reincarnation. Let's hope he's reincarnated as a pig or goat, so burning Jobs will satisfy our heart and stomach
I never read the summary

Well you comment in AC so that you can still moderate, right?
not if you need singed paper work
yes, additionally you'll also need a match or torch

American Indians cross the Bering Strait when exactly? Oh that's right, they're not indigenous at all.
well, their (and your) great great great grandma was from africa
