I remember the Sonic series (even the earliest one) on the Sega Genesis had a feature like this. Sonic would appear to get impatient if you let him stand still for too long. Start tapping his toe and so forth. I don't think any of the early Mario games had anything amusing like that built in (correct me if I am wrong, never had an NES). Because the point in Sonic games was to make the game run fast enough to induce seizures.
As far as nostalgic remakes, I thought Pong 2000 was a novel idea. The soccer field was awesome, you could do flip kicks with your paddle.
I miss the ol' Commodore 64. A lot of the games sucked, but for some reason I continued to play them almost ten years later. I still think breakout/arkanoid, moon buggy, pac-man, donkey kong and jungle hunt are cool games. Ok, well maybe not jungle hunt, that was kind of stupid.
Remember there weren't game cheats on those old titles, most of the games relied on basic hand eye coordination and quick reflexes. In my not so humble opinion this is why Pong takes more talent than say Mortal Kombat or . You can't say that I am overkilling with that special move in pong. With pong I don't have to suffer through a poorly made movie loosely based on the game.
Furthermore, it helps to have three thumbs when playing Mortal Kombat, nothing to do with the number of times I punch or kick the other guy...Oh yes the topic was nostalgia sorry. Old games are cool!
I didn't really try out the link, just posted the results from google. There seems to be an extra space between the e and i in Fahrenheit. That's how it came up in the search. As for the mod who thought this was a redundant post; It wasn't when I searched for it.
It's a control issue...and their contining demand to control distribution of the drivers harms linux every day.
It's stupid and there is no "economic ramification"...the drivers are free, after all. They make their money selling cards!
How does it harm Linux? Even NVidia claims more fps under Linux than Windows or competing Operating Systems.
I am just glad that their are quality NVidia drivers available for end users. It doesn't matter much whether they want to keep their trade secrets to themselves or not.
Even if you were programming 3D applications, you can use standards such as OpenGL. Why or what exactly do you need to know more about the lower layers.
As mentioned previously in this forum, they are doing more than ATI does. I for one, welcome our controlling closed-source overlords.
Downloads new packages to/tmp/slackupdate. Then you just run upgradepkg/tmp/slackupdate/*.tgz.
So simple you could put it in your daily cron. If you must have a silly little icon associated with it, just make a shortcut to run the script and upgradepkg.
I once saw someone give a presentation with a gyromouse. I checked out their prices, approximately $150 for some models. Kind of pricey, and probably not needed, unless you need to have cursor interaction with your slides. They are so cool though.
Depending on what I am doing I use different window managers. I have always loved the gnome environment. So I use it to browse the internet, and do other trivial tasks. I use XFCE and IceWM on slower machines.
If I am playing a CPU intensive games like Unreal, then I use the game itself as the window manager. So I basically have nothing but X and the game running.
alias startut "xinit/usr/local/games/ut/ut --/usr/X11R6/bin/X"
I have never got it to compile cleanly. Despite it being very similar (if not exactly the same process) as XFree86, for some reason I never got the darn thing configured correctly. However, never had a problem compiling for DRI support with XFree86 from CVS source.
The command format c:/q/u is a quick unconditional format. So it asks you, "Are you sure (y/n)?", or something to that effect. The echo y | answers yes without giving you a chance to confirm.
I was wiping a hard drive infected with a nasty boot sector virus and put this in the autoexec file, just for shits and giggles. It wipes it so fast you don't even get a command prompt after it finishes.
One copy of deep freeze will set you back $25. What it does, is basically gives you 1 gig of "Thawspace" and "Freeze" the rest of the system. When frozen, you reboot the system and everything is restored to the original configuration (last time it was frozen. You can then basically map your thawspace to My Documents, and give the tenants a place to store their downloads. The only drawback I have seen is signficant slowdown on older machines.
I'd love to have ReiserFS running on my XP box, for example.
Reiser is not really appropriate here, because you want a filesystem for "large" files. Reiser's strength and efficiency is in large numbers of small files.
On a Linux-based system this would only affect the current user unless running Mozilla as root. But on a Windows system, depending on the version of Windows, the damage would be equivalent to that in an IE exploitation would it not?
This is top-level flamebait. Everything they have said has been debunked. For example, Bruce Schneier in his paper about Microsoft Windows creating a computer monoculture which makes it easier for crackers and terrorist to exploit. Linus himself has said, "Show us offending code, and we will take it out", in response to claims that Linux contains plagiaristic works. What has happened is nothing, nobody has come forward with proof. The people making these claims have never come forth with any evidence to support their claims.
Now that I have made that statement. I wish to make another.
By getting angry with these people, you only draw more attention to their claims. When people make hasty generalizations out of anger their arguments are shot down fast. So by arguing with them, you are giving them more power.
I say to all of you who read this, "Ignore them, they will go away". They haven't claimed any truths and they don't have any evidence to support any of it.
Only with the brand spanking new Cedega 4.0
What license is it released under?

Sorry, I thought you wanted the set difference.
I've yet to see an exploit that's affected me.
Perhaps, you've heard of them. It's an affliction called frames.
Personally, I like slackupdate (bash script).
/tmp/slackupdate. Then you just run upgradepkg /tmp/slackupdate/*.tgz.
Originating at VA Tech, I believe.

Here is a link to the update script.
...their distribution is no longer needed or wanted by the linux community...
...debian is perfectly suited for those who want the absolutly most "stable" release...
Who made you spokesperson for the linux community?
When you say absolutely most "stable", you meant to say least innovative right?
And what about those of us who don't want the undesirable degradation in quality from going digital -> analog -> digital?
1. mp3 is a lossy format there would be no noticable loss encoding it for a portable mp3 player, and playing it back on headphones.
2. IANAL, but copyright law has always allowed one copy for backup purposes.

Oh yeah, I have a network enabled Mr. Potato head.
I read this as them having a new ftp client, available on their ftp server. That would be ironic.
You just made the path longer. How convenient!

I have to dig a hole for number 2, you insensitive clod.
Here in these quiet Appalachian Hills, my computer doubles as a moonshine still.
