First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the trade unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.
So for example, if candidate A wins 45%, candidate B wins 40% and candidate C wins 15% that would be a plurality, not a majority, yet candidate A would have won the most votes. most is an imprecise word, it can mean a plurality or a majority, if you truly want to be precise in your language use, use plurality or majority instead of most. I take "greatest part of the whole" to mean that of all the individual parts, this is the largest. If you cut a loaf of bread into three unequal peices, one peice will be the greatest, i.e. larger than the other two individual peices taken seperately. Assuming you gave each peice to one person, the person who got the largest peice would then have the most bread. If two peices were given to one person, they may or may not now have the most bread, depending on the size of the individual peices.
Regardless of this, i think your confusion is actually coming from my use of the word "the" in my sentence. When i say"in order to be able to communicate with the most people, you would learn english" the most implies the maximum amount possible (while still only learning one language) Your contention that "most people dont know english" is correct, because your useage implies that most means a majority, and combines all the other languages into one (not english)
its not a majority, its a plurality, more than any other faction. Any percent can be a plurality as long as its more than the other factions. I never said that most people learn english, I merely said that english is the logical choice to learn if you want to be able to communicate with the most people.
20% would be more than any other language, including chinese. So if you were going to pick a language to learn that the most people would understand, you would pick english
Does anyone think the employee at kinkos getting paid $6/hr cares enough to learn about keystroke logging or check it out?
Well not if they were born in the US I dont. How come people can come to america with $1 in their pocket and turn it into enoguh money to send their kids through college, but if you were born here, you expect to get paid $50 an hour at a job before you consider doing a good job at it? My cousin was a bar-certified lawyer with 5 kids, but he wouldnt take the job pushing papers in a law office (even though thats entry level) because it paid too low (~$12 hr) He wanted to be brought in as a partner, even though he was just out of law school and all (he was like 30 at this point though, law school takes longer with a bunch of kids) So what does he do with that new law degree? He paints houses and mooches off my uncle to make ends meet, still waiting, 5 hears and 2 more kids later for that partner position at a law firm. Do0nt be lazy! there are worse things in the world than getting paid $6 an hr to do light sales work.
Humanoid robots are overrated. Theres nothing that a humanoid robot can do (except maybe walk) that a specialized robot cant do better. And Id argue that robots already hold more than half the jobs in america. Look at how many more employees we would need if robotic controls and manufacturing devices ceased to exist. It takes 1 machinist to run 5 computerized milling machines (robot milling machines) It would take 10 machinists to do the same work on non robotic equipment. So robots essentially have 9 jobs and the human 1. Most cars made in america are done by robots, most manufacturing in america is done robotically, silicon chip manufacture, etc. They evven have robotic lawn mowers now.
Maybe I'm just stupid, but could somone please explain how "standing the bits on end" works? Isnt this just the same as making the bits smaller (so that they are deeper than they are wide) And how is this an advance? I would think that multiple layers would be more perpendicular, since the only thing that can be written in a direction perpendicular to the circle(that isnt also a circle) would be up or down.
you cannot purchase and download music. The reason is that your music files are wrapped in SDMI encryption, which is unencrypted by the license that you download when you download the music file. The license download requires an Active-X control, which is only compatible with Internet Explorer.
So its compatible with the nomad and rio? What about the ipod, it does have something like 20% marketshare you know. Oh wait, its not DRM enabled. I dont think this will take off, its still too retrictive compared to apples model.
do you think that the U.S. Government really gives a fuck about where your Trek Madone 5.9 or your limited edition X-Men #500 with the supermegaholographic RealPlatinum(TM) has run off to? Of course not.
Of course not, unless youre a communist, or a terrorist, or an Enemy Combatant (tm) or an atheist, or a democrat. Other than that, you dont have to worry about the govt tracking you at all.
::smacks head:: So thats why I see the queen of england walking on the streets of london so often, because there are no guns in england, so the Queen is more accessable. I always wondered, thanks for clearing that up

Average consumers response: Whaaa?!?
Too many times is one time, iPods are not supported because they are not WMA DRM enabled.

Just remember, Guns dont kill people, transfer of momentum kills people.
What is going to happen when this reduces the RIAA's sales figures because people are trying out less music?
If youre going to incinerate it, why would you shred it first? Thats like saying we need to carpet bomb a city before we trop a 10 Megaton nuke on it.
