    I will actually consider getting a Dell for my next computer if they include Linux. Not because I want to avoid the hassle of installing a Linux distribution, but because they have to have better support for the hardware in their machines. Maybe less problems with winmodem drivers?

    On a side note, why wasn't there an option for gentoo? I hope the haven't been reading slashdot lately.

    I have my computer rigged up to look nice with shadows and a theme based on e17 in gnome. The unfortunate thing is that the two people have remarked on my machine asked if it was the next version of Windows or thought it was Mac OS X. Now I think about it that is a great way to make people curious. At least until Vista is wide spread....

    That sad thing is that the person who thought it was Mac OS X was in my computer science class. Arg.

    How is this any different than the W3C doctypes ala

    ? Most web tutorials tell you to use the remote file....but if it ever goes down what happens? Is there a reason for it being taught this way?

    Okay. Let's assume you have a TV. You put it outside on your sidewalk and leave it there. Then you arrest the first guy who tries to pick it up. That would be the equivalent of what they are doing.

    There are a lot of people who give things away legally by leaving in on their lawn.

    Slowing to a halt is all good and dandy but a bit anti-clamactic. It would be much more interesting if the breaks automatically locked, the airbags went off, all of the lights inside flipping on and off like the starship Enterprise in red alert etc etc. Defintely would scare the heck out of me. Maybe they should make the system automatically put the warning flashers on too for good measure. :)

    I'm so much happier now that qt4 is more portable. At least now I can use my KDE games in GNOME. I can't wait until the whole desktop is ported.

I just wish they would stop farting it out all of the time. Maybe we can connect a refrigorator to their butts to harness this unused resource?

    Foolish person. The way to fix babies with two heads is by genetically modifying them. (Which probably IS the next step after you have playing around with fruits and veggies and then moved up to animals.)

    So let me get this straight...the back button on windows explorer goes to the parent folder instead of going back in history? That is some major inconsistancy. Though probably more handy than going back in history like a web browser.

    If this becomes the case, hopefully WINE style emulation will start becoming popular in those kind corporate environments. It would be atrocious to get Windows licenses for all of those Intel Macs... Everybody else can use Neooffice / MS Office Mac.

    Can you do the same things with AppleScript as VBA? Isn't VBA more integrated? Would a become a millionaire if I made a convenient program that ports the code in non-obtrusive fashion? Is it really necessary that I have to phrase everything as a question?

    1. If I had an expensive TV, before using fast throwing motions etc, I would sure as hell make sure the strap seemed durable and wouldn't somehow come off mid-throw. A bit of cautious enthusiasm is called for with your new toy.

    2. Generally when you make something such as a wrist strap, you design it so that it can take MORE abuse than general use as a safe precaution. It sounds like Nintendo massively undershot or had gone the cheap route. I wonder if the person who designed the wrist trap has now been moved into a corner of the office to do less dangerous work now.

    I agree with you on changing money would be expensive. But on the other hand, the US waisted all of this money on making quarters with random pictures on the back and invested in machinery to make a whole new dollar coin that never even became popular. THIS money should have gone into development of making US money better for the blind. It's not like we couldn't slowly change the money over time.
