I'm using Protopage as my iGoogle replacement, and I have setup tt-rss as my Reader replacement. Neither one is an exact drop-in replacement, but they are close enough.
By "taste" do you mean the sense of taste? Some things are objectively salty, sweet, acidic, etc.
I can't speak to $1000 bottles of wine, but that $100 bottle took more resources on average than the $0.99 bottle. The land those grapes grew on is expensive.
I believe they are also big on keeping their people off welfare. A one-year supply of food could help a lot if you had a long stint of unemployment. It's not just for the zombie apocalypse.
... the claim is that an increase in CO2 concentrations from about 380 PPM to 600 PPM will cause a "tipping effect" and exponential feedback loop causing catastrophically accelerated global warming.
Is that the scientific consensus? Or your straw man?
I wish we could get rid of the word "terrorism" completely. It seems to mean whatever the individual speaker wants it to mean.
Let's do it this way: If it's a military target, it's OK to attack. If it's a civilian target it's definitely not.
Does that go both ways? Does Israel also have to admit that Palestine has a right to exist? Because they don't admit that. This seems like a pretty one-sided "right."
I've heard this, and I don't understand it. The Scandinavian countries all have much higher taxes than the US, and also much higher per capita GDP. How is this possible?
Naturalism an assumption? What the hell? It's backed up by tons of evidence. It's the theory that best fits our experience.
Arguing about his mis-use of the term "proven" does nothing to invalidate his point. Believing in things without evidence is no way to run a railroad!
Long distance runners do seem to have issues with heart disease, but it's probably due to all the "carbo-loading" they like to do, rather than the running itself.
Read Stross's Glasshouse for a particularly nasty version.
There are multiple android apps for tt-rss, if you don't like one, you might try another one. I'm using the one by Nils Braden.

I think my brain just exploded. What the hell are you talking about?
People keep saying this, but I don't see anybody linking to an example which works.
I know! I can't figure out how the Viet Cong ever kicked our asses. Or how the Soviets lost in Afghanistan!
Can I get a cite for that? I don't know that they have ever read it as "state militia".
Some do. One is Pali, one is Sanskrit. In my experience, Theravada Buddhists use Pali, and Mahayana use Sanskrit vocabulary.
Gay marriage? None of my fucking business.
This comes across as "I'm not being discriminated against, so I don't care if other people are". I don't know if that was your intent, or not.
I know people who really think Obama is the anti-christ. What the hell kind of anti-christ would he be if he couldn't even get re-elected?
What?! The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall were all great albums.

Another "god of the gaps" argument. We don't know how it happened, so god must have done it!

Do you have some citations for that? We firebombed that many cities in WWII without seeing that much climate change.

A 20 oz Mountain Dew contains approximately 19 tsp of sugar. Calibrate accordingly.
I would guess it is more in the manufacturing and installation of said panels.

Where I live the Tea Party protesters were carrying signs saying "Keep government off my Medicare". It's hard to take that very seriously.
I though Facebook was incorporated in Ireland? EU courts might have something to say about this.
