That's pathetic. I've seen stores stay open during 24 hour POWER FAILURES! Any manager who does not teach their employees how to manually do credit card transactions (yes you can do them by paper!) should never have been hired in the first place.
When we lose power around here (once every 6 months or so), the stores stay open. They simply don't accept debit cards (which require a connection to the bank) until the power comes back on.
The problem with using ctl+alt is that gnome-terminal does not receive those signals, they are passed directly to the window manager. It would be like trying to send your volume_up key over an ssh tunnel...
Yes, but the U.S. is still recovering politically from the event, and will be for the next 20 years at least. Just look what happened to the airlines (pre economy crisis) when they tried to "protect" the public...
Yeah, but good luck getting it to work with more than 25% of the sites out there. Gnash has been working on it for YEARS and they still only have it working on about 90% of them.
I don't mean to be offensive. I know people that went to school down there and you could convince them of ANYTHING regarding us Canadians. He actually started a "save the igloos" fund!
As someone who uses screen-profiles (yes they renamed it, but I can't remember the new name), those function keys are amazing!
Having to deal with many linux machines with command line programs running in multiple screen windows, havning no function keys would drive me insane. Actually, the fact that my N810 doesn't have them is annoying enough, but a real keyboard MUST have those keys!
I have a 16" lappy with a numpad on the right. Consequently, the number row (above qwerty) gets used for symbols more than numbers and my left little finger goes completely numb hitting that #*$#$@#$'ing shift key over and over and over and over again while programming. If they do anything, it should be removing capslock and making num-lock also toggle the number row (or have a second button to toggle them).
Wasn't there a stray nuke that ended up flying right over the U.S. from coast to coast about a year ago? I don't remember that having ANY affect on the news sites...
I'm actually genuinely curious as to which areas of Canada use churches for voting. I live in B.C. and ALL the voting stations I know of are in schools (usually elementary school gymnasiums).
If you are looking at Canada, the west coast's climat is VERY different from the East.
Here is lower B.C. we barely even have a Winter. In fact, we've only had a white Christmas twice in the last 5 of 6 years!
If you stay in the large cities, the summers are also quite mild (quite warm, but not exhaustively hot).
The Rockies and Vancouver Island protect us from a lot of the cold weather systems that plague Montreal and Quebec and Vancouver Island keeps a lot of the hot, muggy weather away as well.

Except that I still need a key to map. Now what would be a good key to map to "F2"... oh yeah, the F2 button!

Or you can just use an Operating System that knows how to properly handle a USB port.
I have never needed to install a driver in Ubuntu in order to charge my phone at full power.
And if a country launched one at the U.S., you think to government would tell people ahead of time?
Or how often the use the OTHER keys!
A slashdotter with a wife...?

Yes, but most Americans figure we live in Igloos.

Vancouver is home to many LARGE installations of Microsoft, EA Games, Activision, Ballard, etc.
99% of toilets have taps with HANDLES, so you don't need a tool.
Yeah, the flush you make before the child uses it...
Yeah, if it wasn't for the fact that it was $400 cheaper than any other comparable laptop, i would have picked something else...
You had a dog? I had to teach the sewer rats how to hold a pencil!

I take it you don't know much about kodiak bears...
Unless that "handgun" of yours is a high powered Magnum, the bullet will bounce right of its #$*&$'ing head!

No, it is gratis, not free!
Could the removal of a digital lock be considered added functionality? ;)

Turning off the water before flushing will work. No water supply == only 1 flush.
Turn off the water before flushing, after water is cut-off you only get 1 flush!
Does anyone have any good recommendations for other domain registrars that DON'T bow down at the slightest bit of legal pressure?
Not trying to troll, I'm actually quite interested in any suggestions.
