What the fuck have you donated to?
What diseases have you put a real effort into trying to solve/cure?
Yes, I get it, you don't like the guy. So lets just bash him into the ground with whatever made up bullshit you can just to get mod points on anti-MS slashdot. Fuck facts, as long as you can pull mod points for flamebait and outright trollish posts.
I never even mentioned "The Force". I can see what side of the fence you're on. Take note, I'm not taking sides. I like both Star Wars and Star Trek for what they are. Getting pissy about either is pretty pointless. Now, I can see how people being polarized about JarJar or Wesley, etc, is legitimate. But what is more true to science? Who the fuck cares?
Both are entertainment. If you know anything about the relevant science they spout off, I hope you're not taking notes for future reference. I assume both put just enough real science in there to make it sound not _entirely_ bullshit but didn't bother going to ridiculous realistic detail to turn it into a class.
Again, these shows/movies were for entertainment. Picking apart the "science" that was written by.. writers.. might be funny in some blatant cases, but generally it's just a futile effort since not even they cared and they were the ones writing it into canon.
Frankly, my opinion is that those who "take offense" to the lack of credible science in these two series/movies are the ones who sincerely hope/hoped it will/would/(was?) become reality in the not so distant future (or long ago past for the Star Wars fans). OMG! The science isn't real! Does that mean I won't get to tool around the galaxy on the Enterprise-A/B/C/D/E?
Nothing new. Even at JFK they tested this nearly a decade ago: http://www.cartome.org/jfk-strike.htm
JFK and other airports may still be using trained Birds of Prey to scare off feed species.
I'm thinking of putting into a plastic bottle and sending it down a river. Stick it to a train. Garbage trunk. String it to a wild animal. Damn, lots of possibilities!
What if I have a lot of property? Or I go onto private land? They can't follow you there without a warrant. But this fun little device can go where ever you can. Now that they are allowed to bug your car to collect one type of data, when are they going to add more functionality? Say, sound recording, miniature camera? And hey, since its legal to attach some things to your car now, can I stick on whatever I please now too? Hey, you love my political party now, enjoy my sticker. Wait, I don't like the color car you have, let me stick on some some of this liquid that hardens after a while to change that (paint). Maybe this isn't as slippery a slope as I'm imagining, but it's already gone to far as it is!
You've made a mistake. You're calling McDonald's/Burger King/Wendy's/etc a "restaurant". You've misled.. yourself.. Now if you want a good tasting burger that looks like it does on the menu, go to Red Robin (if you're lucky enough to have one nearby!).
At what point do you declare the road closed and stop new traffic from adding to the problem? I have to imagine that gridlock starts forming at all the on-ramps as cars are simply unable to move once on the ramp causing people to do u-turns, etc, which causes its own hazards...
There must be alternate routes, no matter how rural for those that _need_ to travel to do so. Letting people onto a highway that is backed up for 62+ miles is just irresponsible. Then again, this is China. Not that the government is entirely evil, but they don't have a track record of always looking out for their citizens best interests.
Exactly, what is spam to my ISP isn't necessarily spam to me. Oh, we see this other company is soliciting you for an alternative internet service that just rolled out in your area and you may or may not have signed up for said notice.

I'm not saying ISPs do this on a regular basis, but if it even happened once, it would be too many. We're not even scratching the surface of the potential for abuse in other areas that your ISP would rather consider spam.
Actually, I do block certain things, but for some reason they still get through anyways. Book reviews, aka Slashvertisements, I have those blocked, guess what though, they still show up for me. Blocking on this site has never worked for my account. So keep saying to click the block button and I'll keep verifying I have it checked yet it won't do anything.
We live in a relatively closed system. If we were trying to "heat" you up, that heat will come back around and hit our west coast. But, as with most conspiracies, it's hilarious to watch at least. Somehow people think we can come up with a grand scheme to manipulate the weather of foreign nations, put it into action, _and_ keep it quiet, yet our government can't figure out how to win a simple war and keep the documents classified during it (WikiLeaks/Afghanistan)?
When I was a kid, I was always outside running around with friends. Playing by the local pond catching tadpoles, frogs, fish, etc. Playing in the fields catching snakes and bugs while eating raspberries and strawberries. Playing in the woods and streams making dams. Riding our bikes _everywhere_. In the winter we were always outside sledding and having snowball fights. etc. etc. etc.
Why are we expecting kids to sit in one spot for hours on end staring at a teacher/board and expecting them to stay calm and fully attentive? I know school is necessary but that's 7 hours of basically sitting there and then the kids come home and are basically expected to just sit there and do homework and then just sit there and eat dinner. Are we just setting ourselves up for failure? I mean, are we just asking kids to _not_ be kids and then drugging them up to make them comply?
I'm only 30, and frankly I knew of _no_ kids with ADD, let alone ADHD. There were merely kids that liked to sit and read or play quietly and then there were the kids who wanted to play football all the time or otherwise be active.
Seriously, what happened to kids expending their energy? Why do parents/administration expect kids to be these calm and attentive beings who just sit there and want to be talked to all day?
Maybe there are some children who have an imbalance somewhere. It happens. But overall, when a kid wants to run around and play, guess what, they are KIDS! It's part of being a kid. Throwing drugs down their throat to turn them into the kid that is more convenient and calm isn't the answer unless there is a _real_ (read: rare) issue.
I don't care what your maximum is as I'm merely going to consider that the maximum burst speed under optimal occasions. What I want to know is, what is the CIR? Ya, I know, it doesn't exist in residential service, well, that sucks.
You're looking for a level of effort above pure copy'n'paste and as such are asking for way too much. Slashdot submissions and editing have gotten so bad that the summaries are generally misleading if not entirely wrong. The summaries tend to be nothing more than the submitter taking the most polarizing sentence/paragraph from TFA and pasting it into the summary field. RTFA is no longer to glean more details for the sake of learning more or backing up your opinions in comments... RTFA is now necessary to understand just what the fuck the submitter wants us to learn. The term "summary" appears to be _entirely_ lost now, at least in the Slashdot story submission crowd.
Once you start blocking "for the good of x" someone will come along and complain that "y" should be on that list too or yet another person will come along and claim that it is unfair that their site "x" was blocked. Staying neutral and allowing anything to be displayed as long as it is spider-able keeps them free of censoring/uncensoring and/or policing. Simply getting addons to your favorite browser and/or using a DNS that filters the way you like it are the best solutions.
This really has nothing to do with the word Geek or the word Squad for that matter. If you look at the car the church made up and then look at a photo of a Geek Squad car you can see the unmistakable resemblance. In fact, I'd dare say a pretty blatant copy with a few details changed to fit the church. Now if Taco get a VW Beetle, paints it with GeekSquad colors and then sticks on a logo that is _very_ close to the trademarked one, then yes, Taco will get a C&D too.
I have a feeling Apple only cares because at some point in the past someone was going to find out about the deal and Apple simply didn't want the negative publicity. If it was going to stay a "don't ask, don't tell" "secret", we wouldn't be commenting on this story right now. Lets face it, more profit is a good thing for all Apple employees and shareholders. Lets also face the fact that most businesses would probably do the same damn thing.

Objective opinions are objective? At least their burgers look like what is printed on their menu, which was my basic point.
Or it pushes everyone/everything else to the wayside. I guess it depends on your interpretation.
You've made a mistake. You're calling McDonald's/Burger King/Wendy's/etc a "restaurant". You've misled.. yourself.. Now if you want a good tasting burger that looks like it does on the menu, go to Red Robin (if you're lucky enough to have one nearby!).

Ads in books were always at the beginning or end of the book, not in the middle of a chapter/paragraph.

Sadly, officials can be persuaded to not notice.
So, I'm supposed to click a link to read a PDF about a PDF flaw. You sly boots!

Not only worthy of slashdot, but filed under Science as well.
The best part is.. This is great.. It's filed under "Science".. I would have chosen Idle, but Conspiracy theories are Science now and fully /. worthy.
