Even so, North Korea is not threatening the US.

While I too am OK with getting rid of 'evil' governments, I would like to see diplomatic solutions, and cannot see any reason why the US should be involved. If this is anybody's problem, it's South Korea's, and I'm sure they can get protection from the UN if needed.

My point is, that US's interference is escalating the whole situation. Even I can understand NK's reasoning when being threatened like that by the US. Can you blame them for going for nuclear weapons?

And then suddenly the US puts me on a black list (axis of 'evil'), I'm damn sure I'd be scrambling for nuclear weapons after seeing that shit with Iraq..

The US has no business 'exporting' democracy to other countries that are no threat to it, when it has so little to export in the first place (free speach zones).

The 'in principle' is an caveat emptor. Democracy _can_ be perverted, as the GPL can. It's no 100% surefire way, but it's effective most of the time..

  17. Re:Benevolent Dictator Attitude on Slackware 10.1 Beta And Pat's Health · · Score: 5, Insightful

Hmmm I think the benevolent dictator argument is a good one, but you forget one think. As democracy protects us (in principle) against politicians going corrupt after getting elected, so does the GPL protect us from benevolent dictators going bad..

If the 'people' no longer wish to live under the benevolent dictators rule, then they can just pack up the 'country' (=software) and start one of their own. If the rest of the people agree that the dictator has gone corrupt, then they will flock to the new distribution, leaving the old corrupt dictator with nothing to rule over.

So I don't think giving health reports in a changelog is going to have the people up in arms.
