.. and send the pic to the biology dept of your local university. They'll probably be happy to identify the species for you - especially if you tell them you've looked around but couldn't identify it.
(Oh - and a large, unknown-until-now species of grasshoppers in the Pacific Northwest doesn't sound very probable. But hey - you never know!!)
I don't have foxmarks from within camino. Foxmarks are awesome - I can have the same set of bookmarks on my Mac at home, in my RHEL box at work and my windows work laptop!
And Camino doesn't support that. It's a deal-breaker for me.
Let's see. The TGV train in question can cruise at about 320 mph. The distance from NYC to Los Angeles is about 2500 miles. So, the ride will take about 8 hours and 50 minutes. Non-stop.
So how long does it take to get from NYC to LA in real life? 1 hour to airport, 1 hour at the airport, 6 hours in the air, and 1 hour from the airport. So 9 hours. Right about the same. Only on the train you can relax and do whatever, while with the plane you gotta deal with all the hassle.
I was going to say that I didn't think the train would be competitive over such a great distance, but I proved me wrong..
You know, that made me feel good. Maybe we'll be able to cut down on flying after all!
They can still use the extra space for more and better textures etc. More kinds of houses, more kinds of pedestrians, more kinds of cars. Non-essential to gameplay, but it would still make a bit of a difference. I wouldn't be suprised if Sony would co-sponsor that extra content, just to showcase the difference between the PS3 and the XBox360..
I was thinking the same. I think it's a combination of amont of traction in the tyres and the weight/horsepower ratio. Remember, those batteries and those electrical engines add weight!
.. and whatever they have done in the past: If the gameplay is as good as the trailer, then they'll become the new Google with unlimited money so that they can buy all the lawfirms and all the judges in the world!!!!
"news for nerds, stuff that matters". of course, the definition of a nerd is not carved in stone - but i like to think of someone highly fascinated and preoccupited with a particular thing. anyhow, i like to consider myself an nerd with above average social compentence but still above average nerdy in terms of areas of interest (and disinterest):)
Sure, mom&pop are not going to buy Linux (unless their geeky son says "mom and dad, buy this and i'll give you unlimited support";). But there are lots of potential buyers:
- IT departments - Education sector - Nerds of all ages and walks who prefer the console-for-gaming, computer-for-linux combo
If this turns out well, they could achieve the holy grail times two: Steal marketshare from their competitors AND gain credibility in the nerd brainshare.
Come on, does Dell look less or more cool after this?
If we can show that Linux is far more secure and just as easy to use as Windows, we'll be ready to explode onto the consumer market. We'1l also need to keep up-to-date with good open-source alteratives to the most important apps.
The iPhone is 2G, thus any company endorsing it would effectively be discouraging the use of 3G and those lucrative MMS facilities.
That's inaccurate. The iPhone is 2G, but it supports the EDGE standard. Which is a high-speed 2.5G-style technology. So, the iPhone has the required technology to provide MMS support, but will it? I can't find any sources.
Again, it's the rate that's worrying. Plants and trees and animals take time to migrate as the climate changes. And we may be moving too fast for them to keep up in the long run.
That will lead to reduced biomass production etc (those feet of water are a threat to islanders, mangroves and the Dutch and the Bangladeshi), and consequently less CO2 would be produced.
well - duh, yeah. but hey - how many ounces to a quart?
Well - if you consider that French and English offer the same functionality, your analogy does not hold water.
The metric system is far superior. 1 liter water = 1 kg. 1 tonne = 1000 kg. 1 g = 0.001 kg. 10 km = 10 000 meters = 10 000 000 mm.
Do something like that with your ass-backwards system, please!
.. among other things because sequels usually gets tens of millions dollars worth of free publicity!

Mine isn't, but she kinda looks like one.
Are they still not evil? And will they continue to be non-evil for all future?

You are absolutely right. The normal operating speed is only 200mph - which is pretty much 320 km/h. That's how I confused myself :)

I've been meaning to build myself a nice, solid Henry Rollins-style neck for years. Now I can. Thank you, kind thinkgeek!
I personally don't think it's the OS that makes you productive, but the software and how you use it.
:)
That, and the amount of time you don't spend on stuff you shouldn't have to spend time on.
If it adds up, then PC is for you. No biggie.
But for most people I know (that are below average technically able), they convert to Macs and rave about them afterwards
well, duh - you don't need to progress in the game, then!

you wanna know what a terrorist's wet dream is? five of 'em with bombs approaching the line before the airport security check..
seriously, who cares? i don't give a damn whether i die with 600 other passengers, 50 other passengers or alone in the dark.
btw, the largest airplane accident fatality count is currently from 1977 at 583. maybe they'll finally break that record?
people are willing to sit more cramped in order to save a few bucks.

What a great time to pick up your copy of the Hichhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and figure out where to relocate!
Money rules.
I guess those poor creatures hooked on PS3 Home would generate solid revenue for Sony.

Ooops. We've got ourselves a feedback cycle!
Perhaps you can configure a proxy server that removes all Mac advocacy? You don't see us, and we don't see your replies. Win-win.
