Sure, it could be that everyone thinks google is good.... or most readers see Chromebooks as a gimmick and don't care about them. They are impacted and more concerned about what future motherboards and general PCs will do though, as that is what they use in their daily lives.
Welcome to slashdot, where we don't read the articles, much less the comments about them
The interesting thing to me is that over the years it seems as if more and more of the wealth of this nation is being collected at the top, but less and less of the taxes are coming from the top. Maybe I'm wrong, but it would be nice to see some stats on that.
I find a lot of them are better, though even better is the extras in which the production crew tells stories how Lucas is off the walls crazy. Of course he gets his way though.
This is the only reason that China and Mexico, for instance, can produce goods far more cheaply than in the US. Their workers aren't any more productive than American workers would be, and are often much less productive due to using primitive manufacturing techniques that pre-date those used in America decades ago.
I would argue that this isn't true at all. It has been shown many times that Americans won't be as productive because they feel entitiled to higher wages to work harder. http://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2011/07/the-fruits-of-immigration.html The article focuses on immigration, but the results are the same. We have a 10% unemployment rate and Americans turning down jobs because they don't want to do the work for the pay, yet it is looked down upon to use immigrants or send the work elsewhere.
These guys don't give a shit about your piddly system of ethics. They're making more money than they know what to do with writing software that the guys who run America rely on every day.
Looking at that list.... I'd rename it to be "100 movies of the 00's". The fact that it says that these are the greatest movies of the past decade... really just makes me depressed.
I really think you are 20 years behind the times if you think that Java just became cool because of Android. I assure you that there have been plenty of Java shops and "Java is cool" mentality before it came out.
The answer to this is no, not all states demand emissions inspections. State Emissions Standards and Testing
Plus the problem is if I live in Area A (lets say Gary, IN) but spend all of my time commuting in Area B(lets say Chicago, IL), Area B has no way to get taxes for your use of the infrastructure. Usually people will fill up gas where they drive though, so there is a good chance that Area B will get tax money when you fill up.
Does it matter? If he already sold 350,000 of the books and made 122k. That alone should set him up for the next year or so to put out a new book (and depending on the quality, it might not even take him that long). His biggest problem is going to be staying popular enough that 250,000+ people will want to buy it every time he puts out a new book.
Student's rights? What are those? Schools are basically the parents of the students now a days. Parents gladly hand over power to the schools so that they don't have to raise their children. If a parent did this to their child, would you be all up in arms about children's rights?
Maybe "progress" has died because skeptics have killed any sense of adventure and imagination in the world of science. I'd rather have a world where people challanged the ideas of what could and couldn't happen then simply dismiss people as "crazy" because it doesn't fit into their world view.
Science is the world's new religion. If it doesn't fit into what has already been proved by science, we don't believe it. Anything we see outside of that view we call crazy and shun it. Of course we go on faith that what scientists have told us is actually true, even though the mass majority of us could never prove any of it.
A good application wouldn't allow a user to create a "weak" password. It would check that it had X character, a few upper cases, some symbols, some numbers and wasn't a dictionary word spelled out in l33t. Oh yes, it would also disable the account after the user failed to enter the password a few times, completely eliminating the ability to brute force the passwords.

So why aren't we doing this with the national science foundation as well? Shouldn't research paid for "by the people" be available "to the people"?
Don't even need to do that. I paid about $40 and bought a food dehydrator and a vacuum sealer. Combine those and you can do all of the above.
You obviously haven't watched "Independence Day". That $10,000 toliet seat is paying for our secret moon base on the dark side of the moon.
I thought that described just about all open source projects in general
Read this article before the Steve Jobs one? I think this one will actually affect me more since I'm not an apple fan-boi. Thanks Taco
Yes, bring back the good days where you could dump toxic waste into the drinking water and put lots of lead and mercury into your products.

No wonder we are in such a sad state of affairs

Actually if I could have a dash mount for my tablet for driving directions... that would be awesome.

Except I'm sure that China is far more afraid of wikileaks than the US Government.

Holland, MI actually does do this. They use the steam pipes to heat the sidewalks and streets of their downtown area.
Didn't you know that smashing the windows to a store and looting it is an acceptable form of protest now?
I think you mean cult. I don't think too many gang leaders are interpreting religious texts for their followers.
He said he wanted to smell nice. Since when does febreze smell nice?
Yeah, but ./ doesn't care about those other movies
