Singles' Day was invented by college students in the 1990s as a counter to Valentine's Day according to the Communist Party-owned People's Daily. Written numerically, Nov. 11 is reminiscent of "bare branches," a local expression for bachelors and spinsters.
Within our lifetime computers will replace the GP. That's where the lowest hanging fruit is.
1. Cheaper for insurance. This will drive the implementation, much as Uber pushes self driving cars.
2. 24/7/365 access in both good and bad neighborhoods.
3. GP bot only has to weed out to the base of the problem. If the case and treatment doesn't fall within the first line of medical defense, then GP bot just gives a referral to a human specialist.
4. One central aggregate database will lead to better care.
The next advance after that will be the specialists. Humans will still have a role in the long term, but only for the outlying cases.
Maybe you're right in that this stuff writes itself. Your nickname is Dr. Evil and by bashing a Trump supporter you take a position that's pro Slitherly Clinton.
In order to better enhance your LinkedIn experience, you must be using Windows 10 to access LinkedIn.
Can't wait for them to tinker with search results too for windows admins/devs.
I think you underestimate the ability of a bean counter or CEO to only focus on the cost of labor when analyzing ways to show better numbers for the next quarter/fiscal year.
Fully auto driving will also depend on revising the roads.
Standards for roads to support auto driving are already being worked on. Those will have to be done, implemented on a wide scale and then revised for fixes/features. Then those revised fixes/features will need to be put into the roads.
We'll also have to develop standards for the cars to talk to each other and to talk to road controls for stats. It'll happen, but all that roadwork will take some time. The cars will also have to be enhanced to drive in dangerous conditions -- think IR reading against special markers in the road.
At some point way down the road (pun?), after the accidental deaths due to autodriving falls way below human caused fatalities, we will be the most dangerous drivers. Then people will require a special permit to drive with the machines.
Old days Canada and DirecTV
I remember long ago when DirecTV wasn't licensed to provide service in Canada and Canadians could get hacked cards and legally pirate everything DTV had with H cards. The Canadian courts had ruled since DTV wasn't authorized to do business in Canada (at the time -- I'd be surprised if it never changed), then DTV was essentially beaming an unsolicited signal and anyone in Canada could do what they wish with it.
You're dead wrong on that account. My employer pays for my time. I still own the knowledge and skill that I utilize in order to make that time worth anything. Just like when you hire a plumber, you don't own the tools that he brings to the job even though they are intrinsic to his employment.
It depends on your employment agreement. Google "work for hire" employee or contractor. There are some statutes and case law to protect employees, but they can be waived and most employment agreements will have you do just that.
Word to the wise: Read every word of your employment agreement. And when a manager or someone in HR tells you "it's just a standard agreement" that means they have no idea what's in it, but the company paid an attorney to protect THE COMPANY as much as possible. That attorney wasn't paid to protect you. There is no such thing as a standard agreement.
FYI, Opera is owned by the Chinese government, errr, a Chinese company. I'm not sure how much privacy one can really expect with that.

But will Asgardia have banks for corporations to shelter/launder money through?

I wonder if Facebook actually uses this themselves. You gotta eat your own dog food.
I wonder if credit monitoring companies secretly fund these hacks.
People would be better off using the National Enquirer for news than facebook.
And for posts like this MS will use their Win10 botnet to give you tons of free LinkedIn endorsements.
Telemetry calls embedded via the compiler? Check!
It's a bit like waking up in Vegas, and you're told you divorced while you were drunk, yet you aren't aware of getting married in the first place.
Oh no, not another one of those nights....
Origin of life? Man, how about the origin of what the hell happened last night?

This is one of those rare posts that needs to be able to be modded +6.
How this guy got chosen to run MS I'll never understand.
If I hadn't posted in this thread I'd upvote you. The direction Nadella has taken Microsoft is mind blowing.
What a unique thing to see in life -- the same company that made the richeest man on the planet being driven to oblivion.

You turned your flagship OS into the worst interface so you'd have UI compatibility for that 1% of the phone market. Good job MS.

And users of Facebook will never hear about this story.
You're our only hope.
Too bad his chances at this point aren't much bigger than a womp rat.

for the Panamanian tax evasion account. They let that through automatically.
*sigh*
And the rowhammer exploiters salivate.
Today is only March 24th.
