If you live in an area where the local news reports on "commuting times" from multiple points, you're already experiencing the same thing on your daily drive. Opt out by staying home and turning off your cell phone, tablet, PC, and TV. It's not like any of this is really new, it's just that someone was smart (or dumb) enough to admit to tracking it for a demographic purpose.
The company said it will use a mix of industrial astronauts and advanced robotic systems to provide a strategically-assured, continuous supply of propellants for spacecraft.
Did anyone else read this as the "industrial astronauts and advanced robotic systems" will be used as "a continuous supply of propellants for spacecraft?"
...It can also make a tank look like other objects, such as a cow or car, when seen through heat-sensitive 'scopes...
Wouldn't seeing a cow, car, or giant rock moving across the field of battle look a little suspicious? Wouldn't the enemy just shoot it anyway, especially after the first shot was fired? The worst that would happen is that they go "Nope, that one was an actual cow." (or an equivalent Arabic phrase). I guess it would be somewhat effective in a land war against India or other Buddhist nations...
The tank would have to use a one-shot one-kill weapon for this to be effective.

You kids and your new shit. Nothing simple about a 32-bit CISC chip. When I was a kid we had 8-bit CPUs and liked it!
I had a 24 bit mainframe with 128Kwords of memory. And loved it.
24 bit? Luxury! We only one second-hand bit that had been wired to ground.
Uphill, both ways!:D
I recall my first computer (that I bought for myself, not the family's) was an Atari 800XL with 64K of RAM. I still have the old box in storage, and I swear it says on the back "What will YOU do with all the EXTRA MEMORY?" Incidentally, it still had a slot for game cartridges on top.
Oh, and to answer the initial question, I watch "WarGames," "Sneakers," "The Net," or if I'm feeling really old-school, "Hackers." Especially the part where they all start rattling off the specs to Angelina Jolie's laptop, while practically drooling on themselves (and not because of her!).
People complained about UAC not because of its existence, but because it was SO poorly implemented. Microsoft managed to take an idea that's been in use for YEARS in the linux/unix world and screw it up royally.
It's that people blindly trust their GPS. How dumb do you have to be to drive more than 1/2-a-gas-tank's distance into the middle of nowhere, uphill, in a snowstorm, on a one-lane gravel road before you say "hmm... maybe this is not the best way..."
Having not heard the sound of the vuvuzelas, I click on the link to their website. Cleverly, they listed these ALTERNATIVE Uses for the VUVUZELA:
1. Cricket bat.
2. Hearing Aid.
3. Petrol funnel.
4. Water sprayer. (force trumpet side down into water)
5. Drinking funnel. Nuff said.
6. 4G mobile communication
7. Walking stick,
8. Light saber. (Just insert a torch) as seen on Starwars...
9. Jousting Stick (simply insert one into another.)
10. And of coarse... supporting any team/thing you like...
Actually, most web filters also block dynamic IP services such as no-ip.com or dyndns. Now, if you pay an extra $5-10 for a statis IP from your home ISP...
Students from more affluent areas have... often, more enlightened parents... Poorer students without home access don't have those opportunities.
WTF?!?!?! Poor families are less enlightened, as a rule? So poor equals dumb, and rich equals smart. Huh. Yeah. That totally makes sense. Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton must have been the smartest kids in school!!
Sorry, but anyone's reply that contains "isn't good neither" is automatically disqualified. But wait, now my reply contains those words. Dang my inflexible regulations!!
Agreed. I prefer Verizon's wireless care to Sprint, personally, but the sentiment is the same. Plus, they'd have the advantage of using their PC from the deck without worrying about how far they are from the WiFi router.:)

When I was a lad building your own house meant fighting the indigenous people and moving them off the land...
I'm not saying there's no one alive who's that old, necessarily, but if there is, you can bet they don't know how to "write on the inter-webs." ;)

"OMG SHINY APPS!!!". Next thing you know, the economy is down for good, the chinese take over...
Oh, is that why the characters in the Firefly 'verse speak Chinese and use the word "shiny" all the time? That explains a LOT!!

MMMMMmmmmmm.......
So the news is always, China "steals" from the US. Is this really the rule, and the US never "steals" from China?
The US can't steal from China, Chinese hax0rs are too 1337!

Phantomation: Excellent!
Kinect: Excellent.
Phantomation: Wait, did you just say 'excellent' because I said 'excellent?'
Kinect: Uh, no.
Phantomation: Excellent!
Kinect: Excellent.
No, no, no. You see, in the EULA that no-one reads they claim ownership of anything you upload. It won't be gone just 'cause you are.
Good point! Make sure to delete all your profile pics first, then follow previous directions. ;)
You can't opt out, unless...
You can easily opt out. Account menu, Account Settings, Deactivate. Done, your opted out.
Oh, you could also just NOT "check in" from every stupid location you go to!
...but other than Caprica, what exactly does SyFy have going for it now?
Don't forget Eureka and Warehouse 13!!
