Darwin spoke out in his later years that Evolution was indeed flawed. He also, in his earlier years stated "the fossil evidence will prove my claims" and then stated "the evidence simply is not there.
I agree regarding the distrust of voting machines. However, Slashdot's "politics" section should be labeled "liberal opinions" section. Personally, I think we should stick with the "old fashioned" way of voting and if people can't punch the cards properly... then the vote shouldn't count.
The iPod is "KISS" Keep it simple stupid. That's the beauty. The Video iPod is a bit of an exception, but then the majority of iPod sales are for the classic design that "just works". Not to mention there are no "digital rights" (or make it difficult to use your own music) features for many of the formats on the iPod (.mp3 for example). I'd venture to guess that Microsoft will enforce "digital rights".
Seems Cisco should be in legal hot water not Lynn. Why would we "shoot the messenger"? Kinda like blaming the little boy in "the emperors new clothes".
Weird. Just plain strange. They seem to think that the USA will react to "Europe and China want it". While it's still never been tested, could be copied if it did work.. etc. Very odd article. Surprised Slashdot posted one of such poor quality.
Linux is a certified platform for SAP, it takes weeks, months or even years to roll out SAP (ask ANYONE that has done it). The install on Linux and Windows should take roughly the same amount of time, unless of course the sysadmin only knows one OS and then it's like having a janitor (the windows admin) design the recycling center. Sorry, I just can't imagine how this is even worth posting! Sheesh.. one manager starts a Linux roll-out, another that is anti-Linux takes over the position and claims victory by moving the roll-out to Windows.
LOL.. yeah, and many windows servers are used in "heavily loaded" environments.. i.e. Beowulf Clusters, Large Super-computers... etc. Oh, Actually.. Windows can't run in those environments.
Let FEMA know that there are multiple OS's and web-browsers in the world. Leaving 1/10th of the population out of the loop isn't only a bad idea from the perspective of what's fair, it's not smart for our Country to rely on one OS/Browser/etc.. from a Federal Emergency point of view. Hopefully they listen (afterall, that's the job of FEMA).
Definetly Intelligent Design.. The other "method" (Theory) has yet to be proven AND seems too slow (if it was to work)...
"So a new breed of biologists is attempting to bring order to the hit-and-miss chaos of genetic engineering by bringing to biotechnology the same engineering strategies used to build computers, bridges and buildings."
Hey! Look what I made.. a computer! I did it from scratch! I used an Intel Motherboard and CPU, a Maxtor Hard Drive, a NVidia Video Card, a case from AlienWare... etc.. Not exactly from scratch.
"On that note, I really would like to see less of the retarded pro Linux, anti MS stories that have been popping up recently"... Next time try http://www.microsoft.com/ for news. They are MUCH less biased. YEAH RIGHT!
When a webbrowser is integrated with the OS, this greatly increases the ways a hacker can damage the system. Hence, while no browser is secure, one can is MORE secure simply because it is NOT woven into the OS. Of course, having updates frequently and being in more active development are good things as well.
Perhaps I should say Opera's and FireFoxes features? Yes, the the tabbed browsing appears to have been "copied". (one feature of the hundreds of new ones available in FireFox). However, Opera doesn't control the desktop and cannot force an icon to be installed by default. Therefore opera is not even close as far as being unfair "tough" competition.
How does the fact that real innovators have to work for free while MS watches, takes notes and THEN copies the ideas (long, long after the technology has been developed and the uneducated MS users have waited cluelessly) prove that Microsoft is not a monopoly? Yes, the OpenSource model adds competition (somewhat), but the sad truth is that there could be a great deal more technology being developed (both by commercial and non-commercial entitys) had it not been for the fact that MS "0wn3s" the desktop.
I couldn't agree more. Of course this summer is the release of the "new" IE. Sad isn't it that having control over a desktop can stifle innovation and hurt the competition (those who REALLY come up with the ideas)

This will force those that illegally use Windows to switch to a REAL OS... Linux. :)

Bummer. The news is good, the politics are so incredibly slanted here that it's sad.
Now the "giant" they once happily supported seems to not need them anymore. If the deal sounds to good to be true, it probably is..
"Microsoft Partner" is an oxymoron.
Adobe stopped supporting Mac with several of it's applications, never added support for Linux.
Symantec never offered decent support for Linux or Mac.
Just wait.. some Governments are getting it next.

Intellect, Innovation and GRACE from above.
Yeah.. sure they want free speech.. as long as they can control it.

The need to get their head out of themselves...

I'm sure it was... Yeah, right!

Install cygwin instead! www.cygwin.com or, better yet.. USE a UNIX flavor!
That's it.. set it up on a system at home and use https to access it. They can't read the email then. Screw-em for trying..

No.. Konqueror is only permitted to access the filesystem with USER permissions.
